JASMINE

Feeling groggy I could only hear indistant sounds, that wolf had knocked me out. As I came to be, my vision was dark, I feel a cloth covering my eyes, I try to move my hand but pain explodes from my right shoulder.

"Mmmmn" I groaned out loud.

Fuck! My shoulder seems to be broken and from the pain it is taking it's sweet time to mend. I was sitting on the most uncomfortable chair that my butt unfortunately had to grace, my hands tied behind the chair in a tight knot. My legs tied to the front legs of the chair and thanks to the Sun-moon flower tea they didn't even think of using silver chains or cuffs on me.

" The mutt should be awake by now" a muffled voice said.

I must be in an enclosed room and from the stuffy feeling in my chest, there are no windows at all.

" Don't think so, I hit her so hard on the head, she should take another hour or so" Another muffled voice says.

" Who knew an alpha wolf could be easy to capture, I thought she would put up a fight" the other muffled voice continued, this time it sounded smug.

" That's because she was drugging herself, and she is not trained like you. Our pack specially trains it's warriors, Did you really think you would put up a fight if she was at her prime, especially with that old hag as her guardian, she would sever your spine" the first voice says thick with disdain.

The second guy keeps quiet, and if I'm right, he was the one who attacked me. And the old hag, are they talking about Daisy, and from the way they talked about her, she should be very powerful.

" Still trying to track that old hag, she's a slippery one, she escaped two of our raids In Miami and Chicago and vanished out of thin air" A third voice muttered, saltiness and annoyance lacing his voice.

They went after Daisy?

Who are these people, are they hunters or a pack who wants to expand their territory and are driving out rogue.

No. That won't explain them chasing after Daisy all the way from Miami to Chicago.

Maybe they are her enemies of hers, she has been a lone wolf for over twenty years, she did tell me that there were times her wolf went feral and attacked single pack wolves before she met me.

These wolves might have just taken me to threaten her. But it still does not make this situation anymore favourable to me.

I've heard tales of what happens to a lone wolf when In the hands of a pack and from the sounds of it, this pack should be very big.

" When we catch her I want to be the first to tear into her" the Man I recognize as my captor says malice thick in his voice, I can feel his wolf pull back it's lips showing his fangs in aggression matching that of of his human counterpart.

My heart drops to my stomach, the aggression wasn't fake.

they are out for blood.

We haven't done anything to these people and daisy is a sweet old lady, she couldn't have done anything wrong.

" And I can't believe she hid that mutt in our territory"

My heart stopped.

Me?

" For years we searched for that mangled wolf pup only to be tipped off that she is in our territory.

The old lady was really smart, hide in plain sight, she is very cunning "

Are they really talking about me.

No. I grew up in an orphanage, I met daisy when I was eight when my wolf showed. She was attracted my the call of my juvenile wolf in search for it's pack.

It couldn't be me.

" Even had the nerve to put her in the sunshine orphanage dedicated to our dead Alpha female " the third man spat out.

Blood rushed to my head as terror filled my very being, I can't refute that, I was the only wolf shifter and supernatural in that orphanage, the small hope that I had that they were looking for someone else died down like fire meeting water.

The sound of footsteps down the hallway brought me back.

" Is she awake" a deep timbre voice asked.

I could hear the dominance in his voice, he should be someone of high status in the pack, or maybe their leader.

" She should be, Alpha" guy number one answers. The flattery and respect in his voice was worlds apart from the disdain and dismissal he used on my captor.

The sound of a door unlocking came and the annoying squeaking sound of a rusted door followed.

A cacophony of scents rushed into the room, my senses are dull but the thick scents of their pheromones was stinging my nose. Aggression and malice filled the air, stabbing the back of my throat like a needle.

Out of all the scents, one was less annoying and more delicious to my taste.

My wolf stirred in my chest, although weak, she woke up curious about the scent but instead was met with aggression her fur bristled and began giving out warning growls, I soon found myself mirroring with growls of my own.

I was responded with a chuckle, deep timbre rumbling in the chest.

Laughing at my attempt of aggression.

" So this is the sole surviving heir of the House of D'Arvenzi famed for having a connection with the Goddess" the my mocker says his voice cold with a tinge of amusement.

" How disappointing " He spat out.

What did he mean by sole heir.

I have no parents, no pack, no family.

And House D'Arvenzi sounds like a big family or pack.

If I'm really part of that pack, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't have lived my life in an orphanage surviving on the arms given by hypocritical philanthropist who takes pictures of their cheerful giving to gain recognition. I wouldn't have to fight with other kids to get a penny on the floor.

My head swings wildly as the blindfold is roughly removed from my eyes. Squinting to try and adjust to the sudden influx of light, I take notes of my surroundings.

I'm surrounded.

Over a dozen wolves clustered in this little cell. Not sure if they expect me to suddenly bust with unknown energy and fight them to escape.

I again mentally slap myself for drinking the sun-moon flower tea, at least I would have a fighting chance if I didn't drink the tea.

My wolf's eyes dart around looking for a loophole, who's guard is down and how to get passed them.

It's useless.

She knows it, I know it too.

" Nice to meet you, Miss Jasmine Lunaea D'Arvenzi." Mr deep voice says.

My eyes fully adjusted to the light, I look at the owner of the voice.

He loomed over everyone with an imposing presence that commands respect, he was bulky, with muscles hidden in his slick black suit.

An Alpha.

His black hair pulled back, not a strand was out of place, his facial features, sharp with is thin lips in a straight line.

My green eyes met silvery grey.

His expression was indifferent but his eyes held amusement to the fiasco I pulled at them.

He is gorgeous , just simply Divine.

But experience has thought me that the most beautiful things are the most dangerous.

A Moth is drawn to a flame only to be burned by it.

" Which toy do you want to use first boss" someone says from the door.

Other wolves give way for him and what ever he dragged in. It's a hospital cart, the sides are stained with dried blood.

The cart is covered with a white cloth, but the blood stains on the cloth give me a hint on the toys he is talking about.

I look back to Mr deep voice, what ever he says now determines what happens to me but I'm not ready to face my fate yet.

The amusement I saw in his eyes was gone , replace by confusion then anger.

" Mate!" Mr deep voice growl out.

Me? Mate?? Is this a joke?.

" You can't have your mate now, your getting married next week!"

JASMINE " Monster" Vivian whispers in terror. " Just following my family's footsteps" I whisper back, knowing that deep down that Lucien's comments of me being like my biological father really got me. " Jas that's enough " Sloane say in a low tone. I'm very sure she's about to lose her breakfast, and if I do more, she would lose last night's dinner and won't have an appetite for lunch. " You three are to kneel here till 10pm, or till Lucien comes and release you. I've been told that my Alpha voice is stronger than most Alphas" I say. I look at Brittany whose blood Is already pooling on the ground, there is no good spot on her face, and her nails are still digging in deeper. " That's Enough Brittany" Brittany's hand fell in exhaustion, her body shaking from the pain that she's currently going through. The pain that Sloane would have gone through if I didn't do this. " Look at what you did to yourself" I tutted, now sounding like a villainess. "Maybe if you didn't have eyes m

JASMINE " Why aren't you speaking?" I ask. Silence settling in the cafeteria. The girls looked gob smacked like this was the first time anyone has ever spoken to them that way." You waltz to my table like the whole world owes you money for even being alive and you confront me of finding my mate... Yet you don't have the decency to introduce yourself" I continue." Preach!" I try to hold in my laughter as someone shouts from the audience. The blonde haired girl looks at the Audience, trying to find the person who said that." Blondie, my eyes are here!"She looks back at me, indignant. At what? The fact that I stood up to them?I have been through a lot in house Malvore and I am not going to take this disrespect." How dare you speak to us that way, do you know who we are" Blondie screeches." No I don't!..... Why don't you introduce yourself, instead of screaming here like a shrew"" Period!" Sloane chimes in." Shut up half-ling " the baby faced twin spat out in disgust." Not in

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO: CONFRONTATION

JASMINE The pack house was buzzing with late morning chatter. The scent of grilled meat and fresh bread drifted from the kitchen, mingling with the crisp tang of pine from the open windows. Outside, the sound of pups laughing and splashing in the shallow stream behind the pack house filtered in like an old memory of home.....except this wasn’t home. My home to be exact. The pack house was practically the central Wing of the Malvore territory, housing mostly the teens and unmated youths. It had a huge cafeteria that could house the whole Malvore wolves. I sat at the long wooden table between Isla and Wyatt, Sloane leaning back in her chair across from us, balancing on two legs like she owned the place. Isla was nibbling on a pastry while Wyatt was in the middle of a story about one of the younger wolves trying to challenge him to a race and losing spectacularly. How mature. “You didn’t have to humiliate him,” Isla chided between bites, though the sparkle in her eyes betrayed her

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE: WHAT'S LEFT BEHIND

JASMINE The Malvore territory felt so much quiet now. Other days I would see kids playing in the maze garden, or teens sparing in the east wing courtyard. Instead everyone stayed home and security was tighter, especially in the North wing. Everyone became solemn as their leader left for the meeting. After reading their history books, their behavior Is perfectly justified. Their leader can be assassinated like the former leaving them leaderless, to be divided by ravenous houses. Lucien left at dawn. I watched from the window as he entered car, vera dressed in a red formal dress entered the car behind him. Although they didn't enter the came vehicle, they still looked like the rightful Alpha and alpha female. I watched as his convoy pulled away, sleek cars slicing through the morning mist, sentinel guards surrounding him like iron shadows. Even through all this, he didn't look up. Not once. And why would he? He made it clear that night, I’m not his Alpha Female. Not his partner,

LUCIENSilence coated the chambers as everyone waited for the last house to show up. The chamber was colder today, not by degrees, but by presence. The moment the envoys of House D’Arvenzi stepped into the Council Hall, the temperature shifted. Words hadn’t yet been spoken, but already I felt it.Today is going to be hectic. They wore the D’Arvenzi colors, black and crimson, the shade of blood spilled in elegance. Their acting Alpha, Ronan D’Arvenzi, walked at the head, flanked by three sentinels, all lean, sharp-eyed wolves who reeked of arrogance and perfectly masked menace. As acting alpha, he had the right to sit amongst us, but that didn't mean we will all see him as one of us.I didn’t stand. He didn’t bow.Of course.Ronan’s pale eyes swept across the chamber, pausing on me for just a breath too long. The corner of his mouth curved.“Lucien,” he said smoothly, like he could already see himself as my equal. My wolf growled from his disrespect, obviously seeing Ronan's wolf as be

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER NINETEEN: THE SUMMONS

LUCIENFifteen days.Fifteen days since I rejected her as my Alpha female. Jasmine hadn’t come to see me once to complain or try to work things together. Not a glance or a word. Not even a whisper of her presence near my floor. Maybe it's because I've forbidden her name from being spoken in the East wing. Her lack of care for our future shouldn't have mattered to me. It shouldn't be getting under my skin. But it did.And everyday without her I feel like I'm fucking insane.Because every day she didn’t come back to me, every hour she didn’t confront me, i wondered if I’d cut deeper than I intended. And maybe I wanted her to bleed.Maybe I wanted her to fight for the title she claimed she didn’t want.Instead, I got silence. She gave me exactly what I asked for. And somehow, it felt like punishment. The knock on my door was delicate and sharp. My wolf immediately perked up, his ears pulled back, growling with subtle ferality.I didn't need to smell the wolf to know who it was at the doo
