ALPHA DAMON.

“You don't just know when to keep your mouth shut do you?” I ask Daniel the moment Kylie leaves the office.

“Hey now, what did I say that was so wrong? She signed the contract, right? Which means the next thing is the wedding or isn't that what you want anymore?” He asked me.

“Of course, that's what I want; that was always the plan.” I tell him.

“Then explain to me why you looked like someone pissed in your shoes when she handed you the contract?” He asked me.

“I don't know what you're talking about.” I tell him.

“Yeah, you do, but you're still living in the land of denial, but something tells me that you're about to be out of there soon enough, and I can't wait for that day.” He says.

“Keep dreaming.” I simply tell him.

“So, are you going to tell me why you need me to look into the moon shadow pack all of a sudden?” He asked me.

“It was something Brady said.” I tell him.

“And since when do we take the word of a

KYLIE. I make my way out of the terrace and into the ballroom. The crowd has cleared enough that I now have a clear sight of our table, but Daniel isn't there, and neither is Liam or Aurora. Hopefully, they've left the party. I'm sure Daniel is fine, the person that I'm worried about is Damon. I close my eyes and focus on that tug again, and I feel it; it's still leading me out of the ballroom, and this time, when I follow it, thankfully, no one stops me. I make my way out of the ballroom and I'm thankful for that tug because if not for it, I would be lost. I make my way down a dimly lit hallway, and before I know it, someone grabs my hand and slams me against the wall; I'm just about to scream like a banshee when they put their hand over my mouth, but it's clear they don't know who they're dealing with. I extend my fangs and get a good bite of their hand and they immediately take it out of my mouth. “You bitch!” He shouts. “Liam?” I ask and I can finall

KYLIE. I'm having a problem wrapping my head around what he just said and it seems like the villa in France was the last item on the auction list. The music starts playing and Damon gets up and leaves along with half of the party. I get up to follow him, but he immediately gets lost in the crowd, and since it's a masquerade party, it makes it even harder for me to find him. I focus on that tug that I usually get, and I feel it a little; it's leading me out of the ballroom, so I follow it, but I haven't even taken ten steps when Iannis walks in front of me and stops me in my tracks. “Kylie, just the woman I was looking for.” He says and I'm getting a weird vibe off him. “Excuse me Mr. Ar'Sanin, but I can't talk now.” I tell him as I try to walk around him but he steps in front of me. “I've told you, call me Iannis; that's what all my friends call me, and I really want us to be friends, Kylie.” He tells me. It's clear to me that I'm not getting

KYLIE. I look over at Aurora and Liam; they are having a conversation with another couple, and my eyes stay on Aurora, but not on purpose; she has on the most revealing gown that I have ever set my eyes on. It only covers her nipples and her vagina area; everything else is on full display, including her little baby bump, which makes my heart break, and my hand instinctively moves to my stomach. Why does she get to carry her own child when she's the reason I lost mine. “Are you ok?” Damon asked me. He had this confused look on his face as he looked down at my hand on my stomach, and I quickly removed it. “Yeah, I'm fine.” I tell him, and he doesn't say anything, but he doesn't look convinced. Liam and Aurora finally start making their way over to our table and I take a few deep breaths to steady myself. “Well, look who we have here, Alpha Damon, Beta Daniel, Kylie.” Liam says as he sits down, and Aurora sits next to him. “Isn't this a ha

ALPHA DAMON. I get out of the car, still angry but trying my best to push that to the side for now because I don't need to be distracted at this party. I go over to the other side of the Limo and open the door; Kylie steps, and I hold my arm out for her, and she reluctantly takes it; she must've clearly clocked that I was upset. But it's not like I don't have a right to be; I mean, she kept this from me, the same way she's kept so many things away from me. But you're the one who keeps her at arm's length; why should she open up to you? My wolf asks me. He does have a point, though. We walk down a huge red carpet filled with photographers, but I don't bother stopping, and the way Kylie stiffens by my side, I can tell she doesn't want to stop either. There are jugglers and fire breathers at the entrance of the party; that's the thing with Iannis, he's always go big or go home; I wouldn't be surprised if there was an elephant around here somewhere.

KYLIE. “What do you mean it's me?” I asked him. “You see, the thing that makes the Ar'Sanins so powerful apart from the fact that they are the one human family aware of the supernatural world and have been trusted with our registries, among other things, it's the fact that they deal in secrets.” He tells me. “Secrets?” I ask because I'm still confused. “Yes, they're always the first to know about anything at all that concerns us and you well, no one knows about you. You just showed up and I announced that you were my fiancé.” He explains to me. “So you think that he knows that we are lying?” I asked him, and he got this weird look on his face that I didn't understand, but it quickly disappeared. “Not lying per se, but you're an enigma; no one actually knows anything about you, and he'll want to know everything.” He says. “Ok, so what do I do? It's not like he's a shifter. He can't tell when I'm lying.” I tell him. “That is true, but h

ALPHA DAMON. “You keep pacing like that you'll wear a hole in the bloody carpet.” Daniel tells me, and that's when I even realise that I was pacing, so I immediately stop and stand at the bottom of the stairs. “Why are you acting so nervous, man? It's just Kylie, and it's not like you haven't seen her all dressed up before. Or did something happen between the two of you?” He asked me, and I turned around to glare at him, and he had a smirk on his face; he enjoyed taunting me. “I'm not nervous and no, nothing happened between us.” He doesn't need to know about the hot makeout session that we had in the hallway. “If you say so.” He says but that annoying smirk is still on his face. “Why are you here exactly?” I snapped at him. “Hey, somebody is touchy, you're the one who invited me.” He says. “Yeah, I'm starting to regret that decision.” He says and the expression on his face completely changes to one of awe. “You should turn aroun
