Louis’s POV

"I heard you told my mate that she’ll die by my hand, Uncle," I called out coldly as I stepped into the backroom he claimed as his personal office. It was exactly the place I knew I would find him. So, the absolute second I shut down my mental link with Tracy, I had marched straight into his space.

"Did I utter something untrue, nephew?" he muttered, not even bothering to look up from whatever paperwork he had his eyes on.

I approached the desk calmly, letting my voice drop to a

"Do we really have to do this today, Louis?" I called out, my voice tight as he led me down the staircase toward the echo of endless chatter below. He hadn’t given me more than a few minutes to get dressed after mentioning the shifting ceremony. According to him, performing it now would boost pack morale—and it was a rite of passage we should have completed immediately upon taking our positions anyway. I had been dying to learn more about his wolf, but now that the moment was here, I wished I had more time to mentally prepare. It felt entirely too abrupt. "My parents are back and the pack is assembled. What reason do we have to delay?" he answered, finally releasing my wrist as we reached the bottom steps. "You don’t need preparation to shift, Tracy. You’re a wolf." With that, he took a firm step forward, and I followed as we approached the crowd. The pack members instantly bowed, choruses of "Alpha" and "Luna" filling the hall as we trailed outside together, the crowd following

I forced my feet to move after Louis left, shutting the heavy door loudly before walking back toward one of the plush couches littering the secret room. I flopped fully onto it, my eyes immediately fixing on the high ceiling.Never threaten me like that again, Tracy, my wolf’s voice echoed sharply in my mind.I scoffed internally, mentally shutting her off. Leave me alone, Lora, I whispered into the quiet room, my thoughts spinning out of control. He said he smelled my arousal. What could possibly be more embarrassing than that? I just wanted to crawl into some forsaken hole and never come back out. And to make matters worse, I couldn't even smell the damn thing myself. His heightened senses were going to be the death of me someday—that is, if I didn't figure out exactly what he was first. He had said it again: he wasn’t a normal wolf. If he wasn't normal, which I already knew for a fact, then what the hell was Louis Greenwood? Aside from being a freaking psychopath, that is.I knew I

I remained quiet even after hearing what Louis whispered, not because I lacked a response, but because he wasn’t wrong. He had managed to catch me off guard for the very first time, and I couldn’t control how my heart had jumped at the sudden touch, nor how the stubborn organ was still struggling to settle down while his warm breath fanned my exposed neck. "How are you all holding up?" his deep voice called out, this time addressing the pack members I had just been speaking with. "We were a bit shaken, Alpha, but we thank you for keeping us all safe," a man answered respectfully, and I felt Louis nod behind me. How long, exactly, was he planning to stay wrapped around me like this? "The Luna has also been so kind to reassure us that this won't happen again," a woman added, and I forced a soft smile in her direction. "I’m glad everyone is being well taken care of," Louis said. A quiet sigh almost escaped my lips as I finally felt his hands slip from my waist. "I’ll address the pa

Louis’s POV"How true is what your sister told me?" I asked smoothly the moment Mark walked into my office."If this is about those attackers disguised as rogues, then every word she spoke is true, Alpha," he responded, taking a seat opposite my desk."I’m sure you noticed how weak they were while fighting, too, didn't you?" He asked and i gave a brief nod. "Go through their bodies for anything that might lead us to their mastermind. I’ll personally interrogate anyone who’s still breathing."Mark exhaled deeply, leaning back. "Is it far-fetched to think this is Lesley’s work?"A small, amused chuckle escaped me, my brows raising. "If it really was his work, that would make things far too easy for me. He’d be giving me the exact leverage I need to strip him of his seat permanently."I shook my head, keeping my voice level. "But I won’t pin this on him just because I hate his fake guts. We investigate properly, as always, and only act when we have solid proof. Just find something substa

I walked straight up the stairs the moment I made it inside the pack house. People were just starting to file in, and everyone seemed too lost in their own heads to pay much attention to me, giving only curt bows before looking away.No major structural damage had been done, but I could feel how deeply shaken everyone was—and I didn’t blame them for worrying. The alarm might have warned us and provided enough time to evacuate the pack members today, but what if it didn’t work next time?I made my way straight to Louis’s room and pushed the door open without a second thought. If he was already mad, knocking or not wasn’t going to change the fact that he’d snap at me anyway. I was starting to understand how he operated. To my surprise, the harsh scowl he had worn when walking out on the elders was nowhere to be found. He raised his head slightly as I walked in, his eyes lingering on me a second longer than usual."Are you sure doing that is fine, Louis?" I muttered, walking over and se

The moment I finished speaking, the rogues wasted no time charging at me. They seemed to have come here with a specific purpose, but I couldn’t care less about that. I let Lora take over, and my claws extended in the very same second. I didn’t even give them time to be surprised before digging my claws straight into the chest of the man closest to me.I pulled my hands free, ignoring his screams, and locked eyes with the others standing a short distance away. A small smile graced my face as I snapped the rogue’s neck, letting him drop to the floor right after.Damn, that got my adrenaline pumping."What are you waiting for? Let’s hurry this up!" I yelled, bouncing on my feet before approaching them again. This time, the remaining rogues charged at me all at once.I did my best to dodge what I could, and what I couldn’t, I let the marks settle comfortably. I would heal in a few minutes anyway. I managed to grab a female rogue and twisted her arm until the sound of cracking bone filled
