Chapter 39: An Unexpected Reunion

Waverly bent down and grabbed her own clothing, taking one last look at the crumpled bedsheets and comforter that she and Sawyer had spent the night in. Their conversation didn't go exactly how she had hoped it would, but somehow went exactly how she knew it would. Sawyer would never open his eyes to the fact that Christopher could potentially be the one who slipped the poison—and if he was, he could also be responsible for the missing women.

Waverly sighed and left the bedroom, which still smelt of Sawyer, and closed the door behind her. Lost in her own thoughts, she automatically turned to go down the hall and bumped into another body.

"Whoa, there. Done with your evening so soon?"

She brought her eyes forward to see Christopher standing directly in front of her, with his hands on either side of her, helping to keep her steady. Waverly took a step back and glanced down at the clothes that were in her hands, noting that she was only wearing a robe. Wonderful.
