MasukHazel's POV
“ We don't." Susan and I answered at the same time. My mother chuckled, patting my brother's shoulders. “ Seems like your mate isn't loyal to you any more." She mocked. Lucas glared at me but I ignored him. I mean, what kind of a question was that? Did our reaction match people meeting for the first time? After exchanging pleasantries with Susan, we all headed to the dining room. Sitting between my family, having a meal while chatting happily was something I have missed for the past five months. Leaving your home to a totally new place without any friend had to be the hardest experience of my life. I can't count the number of times I wanted to come back and be with them but I just couldn't. The wound left in my heart was Just too deep and needed time to be healed. After dinner, I headed back to my róom. My brother excused himself and left for the Alpha's office. Throughout lunch, I could tell that someone was mindlinking him. I was halfway done climbing the stairs when a voice had me halting in my steps. “ Turns out I'm not your friend anymore huh?" Turning around, Amanda stood there, her hands akimbo as she had that miserable look on her face. I fought the urge to roll my eyes at her dramatic entry. “How is that possible? You do know that you are my favorite person.” I replied with a smile, descending the stairs to meet her. I had just finished descending the stairs when she crashed into me, sending the both of us on the floor. That's Amanda for you. A little bit crazy but the best you could find for a friend. “ I can see you plan on breaking my bones." I accused, pushing her off me and getting by butt off the floor. “ What bones? I doubt you even felt any pain." She answered, slapping my butt before giggling. I glared at her but ended up smiling. It's so hard to stay mad at Amanda. Taking my hand, she led me upstairs and into my room. Slumping on the bed like she owned it, the smile on her face vanished. “ I did what you asked me." She said, looking me in the face. “ And?" “ There's something indeed wrong with him." She replied, a concerned look on her face. “Is it serious?" I asked and she nodded. “ He is hiding it from everyone. It's like he doesn't want anyone to know." Amanda replied. “ I don't understand. Why won't he try to get treatment? It's easy to get his blood tested and identify the poison. He can easily get a team to make an antidote for him.” I wondered out loud. “ That's not the only problem. It's like someone knows about his situation and wants to take advantage of this to attack the pack." Amanda added, making me frown. “Attack the pack? No one told me about that." “ That's because my brother asked the few people who know to keep it a secret. What's even more strange is that it's the witches attacking." Amanda revealed, a frown settling on her face hearing her words. “ Witches again?" I mumbled. Three years ago during the night I shifted, my house was attacked by a group of witches. If it wasn't for that strange Lady who came just in time, I might still not be alive. To keep witches away from me for whatever reasons she didn't disclose, she used magic to seal my wolf. Although I can communicate with her, I can't shift. “ What do you mean by that?" Amanda asked, narrowing her eyes at me. “ It's nothing." I replied. I wasn't going to reveal anything about that night to anyone. Actually, apart from that mysterious lady, no one knows about the fact that I shifted three years ago. Not even my family. “ Let's forget about him for now. Tell me, what plans do you have now that you are back?” Amanda asked, making me heave a heavy sigh. " I don't have any plans but I know one thing, I'm back for good. I am not going to run away again from my troubles or that man.” I answered. Five years ago, I chose to run away now that I'm back. I am going to confront my past and the first thing is to cut whatever ties I have with that man. “ Have you made up your mind? To reject him?" Amanda asked and I nodded. “ Now that he already has his life and I have mine, I'll give him what he wanted from the start. I will officially reject him and cut all ties with him.” I answered with conviction. “ Does that mean you have a boyfriend?" Amanda asked, wriggling her brows at me. “ What boyfriend?" I answered with a frown. “ What do you mean by, what boyfriend? You've been in the city for five years and you want to make me believe you didn't find someone to … You know.” Amanda asked, winking at me. I looked away, my face burning with embarrassment. Trust Amanda to bring up the most awkward conversation. " No! I can't believe this! You want to tell me you are still a Virgin?” Amanda practically shrieked, a frown marred on her face. My eyes wandered anywhere but her face. “This is unbelievable! You want to die like an old maiden or what?” She asked, disbelief painted on her face. “ What's wrong with being a Virgin at my age?" I retorted, rolling my eyes at her. “ You want to start your life afresh after rejecting my brother and you don't even have a man in your life? What if he makes things difficult for you? You are old enough to start a family.” Her words made sense. What if that man thinks that I'm back to beg him to take me back? “ What about you? You are not married either." I countered but regretted my words immediately. Amanda chuckled bitterly. “ You Know my situation. I thought he was my mate but fate wasn't kind to me. He is married now and they are expecting a child.”Hazel's POVThe look on Logan's face upon hearing Jordan's words made me feel awful. It made me feel like a liar, like a sinner. His eyes were clouded with pain and… disappointment. While I was feeling awful for telling him a lie, Venus was trying to push to the surface.“I want mate." She declared, more like she commanded and that didn't sit well with me. Stupid mating bond. As much as I wanted to curse her and berate her for being a traitor, I understood why she had that reaction.Meeting her mate for the first time had her excited. Unlike our human sides, a mate bond has a strong pull to our beasts.“ He rejected us, remember?" I politely reminded her in case she forgot our current situation. “ I don't care. I want our mate.” She insisted, thrashing violently in my head.Annoyed, I pushed her to the back of my mind. Having her sealed three years ago made it easy for me to control her."Amanda, is that true? I thought Alpha Jordan is engaged to another lady?” Logan asked, his eye
Hazel's POVLooking at myself in the mirror, I couldn't help but smile. The woman before me was beautiful. “ You should wear dresses more often.” Amanda commented, looking at me with dreamy eyes. “ If I wasn't straight, I'd have asked you out.” She added and I smiled. Growing up, I loved wearing my usual baggy t-shirts and trousers. Sometimes, I can't help but wonder if that was among the reasons my mate rejected me. Compared to what the woman he held in his arms that day wore,my clothes would be considered bland. It didn't help that I didn't have a sense of fashion back then, not like I do now. “ I'm sure my brother would regret ever rejecting you after seeing you tonight.” Amanda said. “ Regret it?I'm afraid he won't even realise my presence.” I said in a low voice.“ Are you looking forward to seeing him? I can tell you are excited.” My wolf, Venus, asked. “ Maybe.” I vaguely replied before shoving her at the back of my mind. “ Let's go, the party is about to start.” Amand
Hazel's POVI could not help but curse inwardly. How could I press on her wounds which she was trying to heal from.“ I'm sorry, Amanda. You know I didn't mean it that way." I apologized but she just shrugged.“ It's okay. I am trying to forget him and I know I'll be able to do it." She said but the sadness in her voice could not be concealed.Getting my mate and having him reject me, I could partly understand her pain. Our situations were different but the pain was the same.Growing up, Amanda was never shy about showing my brother that she saw him more than a friend. She loved him and sincerely pursued him when she reached eighteen. Unlike me, she didn't find her mate and that even made her think that Lucas and her were meant for each other, until her hope was shattered. When I left the pack, I thought the two were already dating only to hear about the news of Lucas finding his mate.Amanda was broken, just like me. After all, he was the man she loved all her life. There's no way

Hazel's POVStepping down from the car, my eyes wandered around the all too familiar surrounding. Taking a deep breath, I inhaled the sweet scent of roses that was planted meters away in the small home garden. My mother has always loved roses and even made a small garden in the backyard of the house.Even after five years, nothing much changed about the place.Home sweet home, I thought inwardly. Five years ago, I left. Broken, I chose to run away. They say that finding your mate is the most magical thing for a werewolf. Well, I beg to disagree.Finding my fated mate was no blessing, it was a curse.Growing up, I always admired him, and prayed to the moon goddess to make him my mate.Guess what, my prayers were answered but the life I envisioned with him never happened. On the same day, he openly humiliated me and reminded me that I was nothing compared to the woman he held in his arms.“ You are nothing but a weak and useless human. You don't even have a wolf. What makes you think a
