Alpha's Liam's office was immaculate and cold. Everything was perfectly clean and polished and in the right place. It was so organized that I wondered how one could function normally in such a place. Could we even be a happy couple, given that I was accustomed to messy places? I figured he was definitely going to hate me when he found out I couldn't keep things organized for long. Liam watched me from behind the desk. His gaze was sharp, making me feel like I was being examined, like he was about to interrogate me. Did he know my secret? Craving one brother while engaged to another? This was unheard of. To worsen it, they were twins. I watched as he stood slowly, circling the desk. “You’ve been avoiding me,” he said, standing in front of me. “I’ve been training,” I replied quickly. “And working on the trackers. Everything’s been moving fast.” He came closer and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear. I flinched involuntarily . His eyes narrowed for a second before returning to normal again. “We’re mates, Stacey. It’s natural for me to want to be close to you. We need to share more than just time and words.” His hand slid from my hair to my jaw, his thumb brushing across my cheekbone. I forced a smile. “Of course. I… I just think we should take things slow.” “Slow?” he asked, one brow rising. “You didn’t say that the night I marked you. You said you were honored to be my future Luna.” I swallowed. “I was. I am. I just… Let's wait. For some things.” “Stand,” he said, and I rose. His hand went to my waist, holding it firmly. “You don’t want me to kiss you?” I panicked for a second. My silence did not faze him. He leaned forward, and his lips brushed mine softly. I stood frozen, body stiff. My body didn’t move toward him, wanting more. Instead, it recoiled. I felt my wolf whimper in my chest and could tell it was feeling restless and agitated. I turned my head slightly, breaking the gentle kiss. Liam pulled back, his brow furrowed confused. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, trying to think of a good excuse. “I… I made a vow. To myself. That I wouldn’t… do anything intimate until marriage.” He started at me for a few seconds before speaking. “You never said that before.” “I didn’t think I had to,” I said softly. “It’s just something I’ve always believed. I want our first time to be after we’re truly bound as husband and wife.” His eyes searched mine. I prayed he couldn’t see the fear in them. Or worse, the truth. “Fine,” he said, looking directly into my eyes as if he could read my thoughts. “Then we’ll be married next week.” My mouth fell open. “Next week?” He turned away, already walking back toward his desk. “There’s no reason to delay. The pack expects it. You’ll be Luna. The ceremony will be held on the seventh night of the moon cycle. My mother’s seamstress will be informed today.” “Liam, we can't.” “It’s settled,” he said without looking at me. “You may go.” And just like that, the conversation was over. It felt so formal, so business-like. I wanted to protest, but he grabbed a folder and opened it, transferring all his attention. I left the office in confusion, my legs barely carrying me down the hall. When I reached my room, I leaned against the closed door and tried to breathe. I would be married next week. I was going to be his wife, trapped forever with a man who didn't act like he loved me. Were all marriages like this? I sank onto the bed, my hands trembling. Every part of me screamed that something was wrong. Not just with Liam’s rushed decision but with the bond itself. It felt more like a chain around my neck than a connection between two souls. I didn’t know how long I sat there, staring at nothing, until a knock came at the door. I wiping my face as I stood up. “Yes?” The door opened, and a woman entered. I’d seen her before around the pack house, usually near Liam’s quarters. She was tall, slim, and elegant. Her dark brown hair was pulled into a tight bun, and her lips painted a sharp red. She didn’t smile. “Miss Miller,” she said crisply. “I’m May. I’ve been instructed to take your measurements for your wedding gown.” My stomach dropped. “It’s… happening this fast?” I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. This was not how I pictured getting married. She blinked, as if surprised I didn’t already know. “The Alpha said it was to be a formal ceremony, but discreet. Only pack members, no external dignitaries. The seamstress is waiting in the tailor’s room.” I hesitated. “I wasn’t told about this.” Her gaze flicked over me. “You are to be the Luna. Everything must be ready in time.” I nodded numbly, walking past her out the door and into the hall. She led me through the house, her heels clicking on the polished floor. We went down one corridor and up a set of stairs, before entering a room lined with fabric, lace, and mirrors. It looked like a boutique. I didn't know the pack house had such a room. The seamstress was an older woman with a friendly face. She smiled warmly at me. “Come in, child. Let’s get you ready for your big day.” I stepped into the center of the room. May stood by the wall, watching silently as the woman began to circle me with a measuring tape. She spoke kindly and asked many questions. Did I prefer sleeves? Did I want a train? Pearls or crystals? I answered mechanically, my eyes fixed on my reflection in the mirror. The girl in the mirror didn’t look like a bride, but like a prisoner wearing silk. As the measuring tape brushed my neck, I flinched. The seamstress gave me a puzzled look. “Sorry,” I muttered. “I’m just tired.” She nodded, moving to my waist. As she worked, I kept my eyes locked on the mirror. And then I thought of Caleb; the way his gaze made my heart race and filled me with longing. I thought of Liam’s kiss and how empty it had felt. It felt wrong. But in a week's time, I was going to marry him, unless I found a way to stop it. But how was I going to do that? What would happen to me? Alpha Liam was a kind man, but alphas do not take rejection easily. What would happen to me if I rejected him? No, I couldn't. I had to stop thinking about Caleb and everything I felt when he was close. There was a knock on the door. Mara went to open it. The door swung open, and to my surprise, Caleb strode in. He was accompanied by a beautiful redhead. I had seen her before but had no idea what her name was. “I've been looking for you,” Caleb said, his eyes meeting mine. The woman smiled as she linked her hand with his. My hands followed where their hands met, and I felt a pang of jealousy. “Why?” I asked quietly, trying to avoid looking at his large arm with bulging veins. “I’ll not be around tomorrow, so we have to train today,” he said. “What’s going on?” “I can't train with you anymore,” I said, trying not to look at her hand on his. I couldn't bear it. She was touching him like he was hers. “I didn't come to ask for permission,” he said. He shook her hand off and moved closer. Leaning over, he whispered. “I'll be waiting for you at the clearing.” When he stepped back, I released a breath I had not realized I was holding. My core was throbbing at the thought of being alone with him. My heart was beating fast. I looked up and met his eyes. They were so intense I couldn't stare at them for long. “Okay,” I said finally. He kissed my forehead before leaving with the redhead. As they walked away, I stumbled back and sat down. “Is everything okay?” May asked. Nothing was okay. I didn't want to marry Alpha Liam, and yet I wasn't allowed to reject him. I was royally screwed.StaceyBy the time they finished with me, I was having a terrible headache. Every strand of my hair had been pinned into place so tightly it hurt but I couldn’t complain. The dress looked perfect, flowing effortlessly over my body. When I looked at myself, I saw a woman who looked like the lunas I had admired growing up. The women chatted about me, while staring like I was a piece of art.“Perfect,” one of them said and the others murmured in agreement. I rolled my eyes but kept quiet. If I spoke, I might say something explosive and I wasn’t in the mood for drama. The women came to my sides and guided me towards the door.“It’s time,” a woman with two dark braids said. They led me through the corridors of the pack house. We passed by several pack members. Despite the conditions surrounding our marriage, they all looked excited and dressed in their finest clothes as if this was going to be the wedding of the year or something. .As we approached the main hall, the sound of music becam
Stacey.I woke up in Alpha Liam’s bed. For a few seconds, I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, trying to remember how I ended up there. The soft sheets and warm air felt so different from the cold, damp cell I had been locked in.I sat up slowly, feeling headache as I looked around. The space was large with everything arranged to perfection and it smelled of him.Swinging my legs off the bed, I stood up. My body was still sore from everything that had happened and the memories of the night before came rushing back in fragments. I remembered the argument with Liam and being grabbed by the guards. After that, everything was blank.Sudenly the door opened and two women walked in. One of them smiled. The smile was fake as hell. It didn’t even reach her eyes.“It’s good you’re awake,” she said. “We have a lot to do.”“I’m not interested in whatever games Liam is up to.” I told them. The first woman exchanged a brief glance with the second before speaking “The wedding ceremony is t
Caleb.Something led me into the pack territory. Maybe it was instinct or intuition, but I felt I needed to be there. Something was wrong but I couldn’t tell what it was. All I knew was that I needed to be there. My wolf stirred uneasily beneath my skin. It was restless and more alert. It made me feel on edge as I hurriedly marched through the forest.I had tried to ignore my gut feeling but it kept growing so I ended up going to the pack area. I knew I should never have let her return with Liam. I should have taken her with me when we met at Silvermoon pack.My brother seemed to have relaxed security. I didn’t find any guards at the border post and easily made my way through the woods like I belonged to the pack. Soon, the packhouse came into view through the trees. Lights burned in almost every window and there seemed to be more activity than usual at this hour. Something big was happening. What are they planning? I wondered. A party?I slowed as I got closer and scanned the area.
Stacey. The guards didn’t speak as they led me through the corridors. Their grips on my hands were tight but I didn’t have time to dwell on that. My mind was racing as I wondered what was about to happen to me. Were they taking me to my death? As long as Liam was the Alpha of our pack, I was not safe. I felt goosebumps as we left the main pack house made our way towards the alpha's house. People stared at me, giving me different types of looks. I tried to avoid them but could feel all their eyes on me.I kept my gaze forward, refusing to let them see how shaken I was. We stopped outside the large wooden door. One of guards knocked once before pushing the door open without waiting for a response. Warm light spilled into the foyer as the first guard made his way in.“Move,” the guard behind me muttered. With a sigh, I stepped inside and we went to the living room.Liam stood near the window, his back facing us. He looked quite fine not as weak as I’d expected. He turned and the first t
Stacey. The noise became louder with each bang. Wondering who it might be, I got on my feet and went closer. Whoever was there had to know I couldn’t open the door. So why wouldn’t they stop banging? “Stop!” I called out. “I can’t open the door. What do you want?” The banging paused for a while and I heard heavy boots in the hallway. There was a click of a lock, followed by the door opening slowly. Dim light from the hallway spilled into the cell, making my eyes squint involuntarily. A hunched figure stepped inside and the door closed immediately, before locking. “Grandma?” I said, moving closer to her. “Why are you here?” “I’m here to talk some sense into you, stubborn girl. You shouldn’t have done that. How could you even think of hurting the alpha?” “He was trying to force himself on me. I had to protect myself.” “The alpha is your fiance,” she said. “The sooner you accept that, the better for you. Many women have been in the same position as you and they somehow man
Stacey. “I didn’t mean to hurt him,” I said. My hands were shaking terribly and my knees ached from being pressed against the floor. “But he wouldn’t stop. I lost it, I'm sorry.”“Step back!” a guard yelled, nearly shoving me aside as he dropped to his knees beside Liam. Another guard grabbed my hand and pulled me up roughly.“I didn’t mean to hurt him,” I said again, louder this time. Liam was not getting up and I was starting to panic. “You have to believe me.”“Silence!”The command was sharp, making me freeze. The guard holding me pushed me towards the wall until my back hit it. Another guard went on his knees, taking my position. He and his colleague turned Liam's head before pressing two fingers on his neck.Time seemed to slow down as I waited for the verdict. “He’s breathing.” the first guard said. A surge of relief swept through me.“He’s breathing,” the guard repeated, glancing at the others. “Call the healer now.”He was alive! I was relieved before I remembered what had
Stacey. They had probably injected something into me. Why else would I be powerless even outside the cells?Every girl dreams of their wedding day, to make it the most beautiful day of her life. We want it to be perfect and unforgettable in a good way. But for me, that had been taken away from me.
Caleb.I don’t know if Liam intended for me to find out about the wedding but by sunrise, everyone within a hundred miles knew about the so-called wedding of the year. Word traveled fast between packs. They said Alpha Liam Morell of Midnight Pack was marrying the most beautiful and powerful woman i
Stacey. “Please step back,” I said quietly. Liam didn’t move. He stayed rooted to that position and it made me very uncomfortable. “I need you, Stacey.” He said, his cock hardening against my exposed bum. “Can’t you feel it? I’m so hard for you.”His voice was soft and polite. “I can’t do this,”
Stacey. All of a sudden, the whole chamber was overheating. While everyone was trying to process Liam's announcement, the air in the chamber turned hot. The ritual symbols began to glow, creating lines that spread all over the floor. It seemed that the magical forces were colliding with something
