Chapter 23 - Standoff

Daciana's P.O.V

“Seize them and throw them in the dungeon.”

Those were Caleb's orders before he left us with an army of armed guards and they were all hesitant to make a move.

It was either they still had respect for me as their heir, or they feared what I could possibly do to them if I was capable of doing what I was accused of.

Adam took a step forward and placed a hand on my shoulder. “Your father trained you for battles, didn't he?” He asked, his eyes scanning the number of guards around us.

There were about a dozen of them, and just two of us. “He did,” I whispered back to Adam.

He took another step forward and one guard ordered him to stop, but he didn't. “Daciana. Do you know something very important when you're surrounded?”

“I don't.”

“Always stay calm,” he said with a smile. “When you're calm, you think better, you don’t rush into a fight and you avoid making mistakes.”

I took a deep breath following what he said and let the wind gush through me. I felt a sizzling sensation
