Destiny’s POV
I knew it was broad daylight, and anyone could see me hanging off the makeshift rope that was the bedspread knotted together with the blanket that I had thrown out the window. I pushed fear from the back of my mind as my gaze went to the ground way below me. A subtle breeze went through my hair as I held the cloth tighter. No one was down there, which made this escape all too perfect. My muscles strained as I grasped tight and slowly let myself down, making sure to not make any grunting sounds. I needed to hurry because it would only be a matter of time before Alpha Theo sent someone to come check on me. A sense of urgency wove through me, and I moved my body quickly. I was now outside the sixth floor. Seriously, how high was this mansion? As I moved lower, approaching a window, I prayed to the goddess that no one was inside that room. Or better still, if they were, they should be asleep or blind. But if someone was in there, they would have looked out the window by now to figure out where the cloth was hanging from, right? That consoled me, and slowly, I moved, my breath even as I neared the window. But when I got to it, peering inside, I froze, the hair on my neck standing up, my heart picking up speed. Staring straight at me was Alpha Theo, with a male and female on each side of him, their eyebrows quirked. But it was Alpha Theo’s stormy grey eyes that sent a chill of fear grazing down my spine. It held an ice that I was sure could freeze me the longer I stayed there. His arms were folded across his chest, his stance radiating power as he glared, his voice thunderous. “You dare test me—” It was the only thing I could allow myself to listen to before alarm washed over me, and I hurried down the makeshift rope, my pulse spiking as I moved. I let out a curse. I had expected to be caught red-handed by probably an enforcer, not Alpha Theo. Shit. Shit. Shit. My heart was now pounding loudly in my ears as adrenaline fueled my movements. I was now on the second floor, and thankfully, there were no other windows below. I knew Alpha Theo was now hot on my trail, probably already having sent some of his enforcers after me. If I could just hurry and slip into the forest, then it would probably be a while before they reached me. At least I would have run far away. When I got to the first floor, I let go of the rope, landing on the hard ground with a thud and without wasting any time, I ran. But I wasn't fast enough because a tug on the white t-shirt I was wearing pulled me back, holding me in place. “Where do you think you’re going?” Alpha Theo’s voice breathed into my ear, sending unexpected tingles down my body. The sound sent that all-too-familiar chill through me. My heart sank to my stomach. His spicy scent wafted to my nostrils, and I knew I was in trouble. “Let me go!” I screamed as I struggled to get out of his tight grasp on my shirt. I let out a curse as he gripped my arm, his hand hot and scorching on my wrist, turning me around to face him and pushing me back with enough force that I gritted my teeth when my back hit the wall of the house. His eyes held blazing fire as he glared down at me. “I am going to ask you one last time, Destiny. Where do you think you’re going?” His voice was low and threatening as he looked down at me, holding me tight against the wall. My heart rammed against my chest. “Where do you think, asshole? Away from this place,” I fired back. I was not about to beg him to let me go. “Let me go. I don’t owe you anything.” He tilted his head to the side, those gray orbs of his studying me intensely, and I had to hold back a shiver. I felt my hardening nipples straining against my bra as I registered the feel of his body on mine. “I wonder what gave you the audacity to defy me. I was sure I made myself clear. Get dressed and get downstairs.” His face was now a few inches closer to mine. “Well, I’m dressed, and I’m downstairs, am I not?” I shot back, glaring at him, my lips in a grim line. “Alpha.” A male voice sounded before he could respond, and a brown-haired shifter appeared. His heavy breaths came with the rise and fall of his chest as if he had been running. I remembered he was the male in the room with Alpha Theo, together with the female who was now behind him. Her blonde hair glimmered under the sun, a frown on her face. She raised a brow when she took in the position of me and her Alpha. “Alpha Theo, who is she?” she asked with curiosity, her voice soft. Alpha Theo just stared right at me, his gaze hard on my face as I was still struggling to get out of his grasp. “Matt, Maria, meet Destiny; she will be having my child.” His eyes were still trained on me as he spoke. Their eyes both went round in shock but he continued, “Destiny, meet my beta, Matt, and the head of the pack enforcers, Maria.” I yanked my gaze to them. “Well, it's not particularly nice to meet you guys, especially under these circumstances. But one thing I want to clarify is I am not his fucking breeder.” A low growl emanated from Alpha Theo, and in fear, I brought my gaze to his, alarm coursing through me. “You need to let me go,” I said through gritted teeth, despite the terror that was slowly rising at his now elongated fangs. “Not after you’ve done what I bought you for.” “I’m not having pups for you.” “You will.”Destiny’s povGrief engulfed me at the thought of my parents' death. I still remembered the night they were both burnt alive, not really understanding a thing apart from the fact that my parents were being taken away from me forever. And the fact that I was being left alone in this world.A single tear, a hot, salty thing, rolled down my cheek. And then another. And then another.I didn’t know why I was suddenly feeling intense sadness. Maybe it was the feeling of being utterly alone. Maybe it was the fear. I didn't know. All I knew was that I couldn't stop. I just sat there, in the middle of the garden, my body shaking with a mixture of shame and a hurt so deep it made my eyes sting.I was so consumed by my hurt that I didn't even hear him coming. I didn't even notice he was there until I felt a hand on my shoulder.I turned abruptly to see him, the entirety of him like a god. Theo’s voice was a low, gentle whisper, his eyes glazing with worry. "Are you... okay?"I didn't answer him.
Destiny’s povThe last two weeks had been a blur of misery and silence. It felt like I was living in a different world, one that was no longer a beautiful prison but a cold, hard cage. The pack that had slowly grown on me, becoming a place of warmth and comfort, was now a place of silent judgment. The whispers followed me wherever I went, like a shadow both under the sun and in the moonlight. The pack members, once friendly and welcoming, now stared at me with a mixture of fear and something else that made me feel dirty. They would go out of their way to avoid me, to turn their heads when I passed, to treat me like a disease. Like I was poison. It was like I was back to my former pack. Where I had been treated like an outcast. Theo was the worst of it. He had buried himself in his work, a silent. I guess as a way to avoid me. To avoid the truth. That the thing he hated the most was carrying his child. He would be in his office from morning until night, only showing up for meals. H
Theo’s povThe whiskey burned as it went down, a fire that did nothing to numb the ache in my chest. I had been at the pack house bar for hours, the dim lights and the smell of old wood doing little to soothe the storm raging inside me. My body was a tight knot of pure agony, a torment far worse than any pain the curse had ever inflicted. I was trapped between a rock and a hard place, and I couldn't find a way out.How could the Goddess be this cruel? I had found my mate. The one person meant to make me whole. The one person meant to break the curse. The one person who was supposed to be my other half. And yet, she was also the being I hated with every fiber of my being.A witch. The very thing that had taken my mother from me. The very thing that had caused me to kill my father. The very thing that had made me into the broken, empty shell of a man I was today.I had been so happy. So utterly happy when I was with her. Her touch, her scent, her voice. It was all I ever wanted. All I
Destiny’s povEthan. The male who had contributed to taking my life away from me. The male who had rejected me without thinking twice. My wolf was growling inside me. We no longer felt pain when we saw him. She no longer felt broken—just pissed that he was here, breathing the same air as I was. He was standing in the doorway, his eyes filled with a cold, hard hatred that almost sent a shiver down my spine.Theo's jaw clenched, his eyes filled with a dark, dangerous light. He didn't say a word. He just stared at Ethan, a low, dangerous growl rumbling in his chest."What are you doing here?" Theo said, his voice a low, dangerous growl."Maria here wants the best for you and your pack, so she reached out to me to look into the abomination that you want to be the mother of your child," Ethan said, a cruel, mocking smile on his face. "I thought I should come and warn you about her before it's too late. I came to warn you about her darkness. A darkness that I know is evil. A darkness tha
Chapter Eighty FourDestiny’s povA week had passed since the night Rose had stormed out of the dining room. A week since Theo and I had stood in that room, the air thick with unspoken truths and bitter accusations. The walls of the pack were rebuilt within that time. I wished I could say the same for my relationship with Rose. She was still not speaking to me. And that unnerved me. She was one person I had come to trust in the pack where no one knew me. The one person who had listened to me. We would pass each other in the halls, and she would avert her eyes, her face a mask of cold indifference. It was a punishment far worse than any shouted words. The days had been a confusing mix of quiet peace and a growing, unspoken intimacy. Theo and I had fallen into a strange rhythm, one that revolved around stolen moments and a raw, physical connection. We fucked. And we did so, hard. It was a routine built on the ruins of our argument. The days were filled with the silent tension of ou
Destiny’s povMy heart pounded against my ribs. Rose had told me she was going to stop being in contact with the human. She told me she was going to wait until we were out of here. She had lied. My mind was a whirlwind of emotions. Shock. Annoyance. Disappointment. How could she have been so careless? How could she have broken her promise to me?Theo's body was rigid, his jaw clenched, and his eyes filled with a dark, dangerous light. He just stared at his sister, a look of pure, unadulterated fury on his face. He didn't say a word. He didn't have to. His eyes said it all."Rose," Theo said, his voice a low, dangerous growl. "Is this true? You are talking to a human?"She flinched at his voice. "I... I'm sorry, Theo. I just... I didn't mean to.""Didn't mean to?" he said, his voice filled with pure fury. "You know the risks. You know the history we have with humans. You know what would happen if you were caught. You know that it is a taboo for werewolves to be with humans. So why?
