The air was thick with the smell of burning wood, smoke, and a metallic scent I was starting to get familiar with.

The scent of blood.

The sounds of the fights going on in the distance were deafening.

Goddess. Just how big was the rogue attack?

As I got closer to the border just east of the pack grounds, the chaotic scene that unfolded before me made my heart stop. I had known there was a fight, but this… this was a full-blown war.

My heart was pounding hard against my chest as I watched the scene unfold before me, my eyes wide.

Pack members and rogues were locked in a brutal battle. It was a battlefield littered with bodies, both wolf and human. A group of shifters stood their ground, their bodies shifting in place, preferring to let their wolves take over.
