Raven POV

“Oh fuck it.” I don’t know why I voiced that thought out loud just before I slammed my lips against Jacob’s. I still don’t know what possessed me to do it. One second I was getting ready to walk away because I suddenly got the idea that maybe he was just being nice so he could convince me to have sex with him. He wouldn’t be the first guy over the years that looked at me and thought that I would be an easy mark. You know the chunky best friend who comes from the trashy family. She will always put out to whoever pays attention to her because she gets ignored so much. She’ll be grateful to any guy who even talks to her. Believe me, those guys are easier to spot than you might think. They always seem overly sweet and caring, but as soon as you show no interest in anything sexual with them the first time you meet them, their whole demeanour changes.

I had one guy get really pissed when I told him that I wasn’t going to give him the blowjob he asked for five minutes after I met him. He looked over to where Sara was dancing with Kevin. It was the night she met him, then grabbed my arm and tried to drag me off into the woods. He was going on about how my slutty friend was going to be busy for awhile so I had nothing better to do. I’m just grateful that Trish and Duke had seen what was happening and came to help. The guy was a lot stronger than most guys I’ve dealt with. It turned out the guy was from their private school and was pissed that Sara had turned him down to dance with Kevin.

There had been a few other guys like that over the last year or so, but never to that extreme and never any of the guys that knew Trish, Duke and Kevin. It was guys from our high school that would have sex with almost anyone just to add them to the count.

Jacob had likely sat and watched as guy after guy came up to Sara, and only a few that were obviously only there because their buddies asked them to come had talked to me. The only reason I hadn’t worried about it at first was that Trish had introduced him to me, but now that I had some time to think, I thought it might be a good idea to make sure that he understood that nothing like that was going to happen. But the second I felt his arms wrap around my waist in a move that was so fast that I had barely had time to register that I was about to fall off the dock, something changed. Every nerve ending in my body lit up like a Christmas tree. The tingling that I had felt earlier intensified, threatening to short-circuit my brain cells. Maybe it did because the only thought that I had when we landed in the boat was ‘oh fuck it’. I no longer cared if he was just using me for a roll in the hay, a bang in a boat? See fried brain cells. I wanted to experience this. Everything in my body was screaming at me to just let things go where they were going to go.

As my lips connected with his, I felt his strong arms tighten around me. A level of want that I had never even thought possible took over. I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew what I wanted. And what I wanted was to feel Jacob’s hands on me, everywhere. I wanted to run my hands up and down the hard sculpted chest and abs I could feel pressed against me as I lay on top of him. The thought of running my tongue all over his heated skin flashed in my head.

Jacob let out a small growly purr-like noise. That sound sent more tingles through my body that ignited little flames of desire between my legs. The feelings were so new I didn’t know how to process them. I was in complete overload. I wanted to just let go of my doubts and give in to the feelings that this solid, handsome man was stirring in me, but I was scared of it too. What if I got pregnant? Then all my work to get that scholarship would be for nothing. I could feel Jacob thread his fingers into my hair at the back of my head and start to pull me down to deepen the kiss. That is when I knew I had to put a stop to this. Using more willpower than I thought I had, I started to pull away before things could get any more out of hand. I pushed back against his hand and pulled away from him. He didn’t try to stop me, but he kept his hands on me to keep me balanced as I scrambled off of him as fast as I could without rocking the boat. I sat for a few seconds on the front of the boat catching my breath. When I stood, Jacob didn’t say anything. He just held the boat still while I climbed back onto the dock. Once we were both back on the dock, I kept my head down, looking at my shoes.

“You probably think I’m a tease, and I’m sorry that I did that, but also not sorry.” I started to stammer out, trying to explain myself without sounding like a complete idiot and hoping that he wouldn’t get mad.

I felt Jacob’s large, strong, warm hands cup the sides of my face and his thumbs gently push on my chin to tilt my head up. I once again found myself staring into those beautiful hazel eyes. “Don’t ever say you’re sorry to me for stopping things that were making you feel uncomfortable. The last thing that I ever want to do is make you feel like you have to do something.” He leaned down and kissed my forehead. “But if you’re OK with it, I would like to just stand here and hold you while I get certain parts of my body back under control.” I looked at him, confused by what he was saying, then I felt his hardened length pressing against my stomach. My eyes widened in surprise.

“It was a pretty amazing kiss.” Jacob chuckled. That sound warmed me almost as much as being held by him did.

Jacob POVI found Zane in the kitchen, holding Cameron as he warmed a bottle from the extra Raven kept in the fridge.“Where’s Dawn?” I asked, scanning the rest of the room.“She has an early meeting at the preschool tomorrow, so I gave her the car to head back with. Plus, I wanted to talk to you.” He replied, passing Cameron to me.“Dawn changed him when he woke up, so he should be good,” Zane said, turning to get the bottle.I made my way over to the couch and got comfortable before taking the bottle from Zane. “OK, spill. What’s going on?”“Dawn is mad at me,” Zane said, exhaling as he sat on the other end of the couch.“Why?” I asked cautiously. Not wanting to be mad at my best friend unless it is truly warranted.“Because I told her that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to have kids.”“Ok now I’m a little confused. Because if I remember correctly, weren’t you the one that was sitting around imagining what it would be like to, and I quote you, ‘watch Dawn get round with my child’?”“Yep,

Raven POVWhen Rene and Sean returned, I told them about the stories my Grandmother used to tell me. Stories that she said had been passed down through her family. In these stories, wolves always became life companions to certain family members. But according to my Grandmother, there had not been one of these pairings in a long time. So long, in fact, that everything that was known about them faded away. The only thing left were the stories.“Ahh,” I groaned in frustration. “I wish I had listened better,” I said, looking at everyone else in the room.“It’s OK,” Jacob said, trying to make me feel better.“Yeah, but if I had known any of this stuff was real when she was telling me the stories, I would have paid more attention. But come on. I thought Grandma was getting old and was making things up in her head.” I shook my head. “I loved her dearly, but she was talking about magical wolf creatures.”I looked around at the people sitting here with me and chuckled. “I guess she wasn’t losi

Raven POVWe pulled up outside the packhouse. I opened Emma’s door, and Jacob grabbed Cameron out. I had wanted to walk so I'd have more time to think about what I was going to tell Luna Rene about my eyes. But the sky looked as if it was going to pour down any minute. Emma ran ahead towards the back where the private entrance to the Alpha suite was.“Emma, wait,” Jacob called. “Grandma and Grandpa linked me that they are already in the dining hall. Let’s go in the front door this time.”Emma switched direction quickly and ran up the front steps. Jacob took my hand, and we followed her in. As we entered the hall, we could hear Emma’s squeals of delight as Alpha Sean threw her into the air. I know both of them have told me that I don’t have to call them Luna and Alpha because I am family. I had noticed that even Heather calls them by their first names, but she grew up here. The Alpha quarters were her second home. After a round of hellos and greetings, we sat to eat. When we were finis

  • The Alpha's Disappearing Mate   Chapter 90

Jacob POVThe panic that hit me when I stretched my arm across the bed and realized that Raven was gone was the worst feeling that I have ever experienced. And it only spiked when I saw that she wasn’t in the bathroom either. I grabbed the jogging pants off the floor, almost ripping holes in them as my claws extended from Coal, starting to push forward. His panic only added to mine.I reached the front door, but it wouldn’t open. What was keeping me from getting out? I was about to rip the thing from the frame when I realized that it was locked. Here on the pack territory, we don’t have to lock the doors, but it makes Raven, and I will admit me too, feel better because we know that Emma can’t just leave the house without us in the middle of the night. But right now it is just pissing me off because in my panic it is also stopping me from tracking Raven. I was reaching for the lock when I heard the best thing ever: my name being said by Raven. I turned to find her sitting on the couch

  • The Alpha's Disappearing Mate   Chapter 89

Jacob POVI can’t believe that I didn’t lose control right then and there. This is the first time that Raven has ever taken full control like this. Any other time, I was the one who encouraged her to climb on top, but not this time. Goddess, she looks beautiful. I rest my hands on her hips to help her balance, but that is it. She is setting the pace, which she is increasing quickly. I can feel her walls start to flutter around me. I feel my balls tighten, and I know that I will not be able to hold off much longer. But my male pride won’t let me cum before Raven gets her pleasure. I slide a hand between us to find that little bundle of nerves. She must have been even closer than I thought because as I touch it she explodes. Her walls clamped down, and she screamed my name so loud there is a chance that they heard her all the way up at the packhouse, and I was right behind her.Raven POVI lay sprawled on Jacob’s chest. I can hear his heart race as he comes down from that rush, the same

  • The Alpha's Disappearing Mate   Chapter 88

Jacob POV“And what do you want to do to me?” I asked as I gently nudged Raven down the hall towards our bedroom. This was the first time that Raven had ever shown any signs of initiating any intimacy. Don’t misunderstand what I’m saying. She is comfortable with starting our hugs and kisses. Sometimes that does go further, but I have never pushed her. Anything that happens between us is all at her pace. But this is the first time that she has ever verbally stated that she wants me that way. I just hope that it means she is starting to understand that she is safe here, that she will never be forced to do things that involve her body against her will.As we enter our room, I softly close the door behind us and pull Raven close. She pushes away, and I start to worry that I moved too quickly. But my nerves settle when she grabs my hand and leads me to the bed. She positioned me at the end of it and gave me a shove to make me flop down flat on the bed. Of course I could have stopped her, b
