Ligon’s claws dripped as he stepped over the fallen were-chimpanzee, gray fur bristling under the camp’s torchlight. The rest of the troop backed away in jittery grunts, unknowingly heading to where Mangolia stood....but one figure didn’t move.

Kruel stood at the center of the camp, arms folded, grin stretched wide.

“Rotten bones of the damned I've sent to hades has never seen anything so ....enrapturing” he drawled, eyeing the corpse at Ligon’s feet. “The little wolf pup grew fangs.” His gaze slid lazily over Ligon’s towering Lycan form. “Weren't you Mangolia's side piece? The one crying to let his friends go? Now you're standing before me in that adorable form, waiting for a challenge?” Kruel's laughter boomed loud into the quiet night, a warning echoing across the darkness to all whom he deemed prey.

Ligon looked at Kruel squarely, his expression blank as the words rumbled from his wolf's lips “I suppose I can mark this as my first encounter with a big, blind monkey, with function

“That’s it?” Ligon tilted his head at Kruel, his brows drawing sideways and downward with annoyance, his eyes scanned Kruel from his feet up to his face. “All that grunting and bone-cracking just to look uglier? The gods must truly despise you, Kruel." Ligon paused, before shaking his head and continuing."I waited to see the what 'true strength' looked like, but I have to say old man, you've disappointed me gravely." He drawled "I almost fell asleep waiting for you to finish… whatever that mess was.” he concluded, his voice clipped with annoyance.Kruel couldn't stop his frame from trembling with rage, he had done more than any Chimpanzee to attain his peak form, he even went as far as demanding for his mother's womb to be torn so he could enter once more and be reborn. It was done, his mother's womb was sewn with him inside, and the ritual involving a werewolf's blood was done over again, he had stayed there for three days for his mother's body to accept him, neither drinking wate

They reached the edge of the forest. Ligon's people were waiting for them with familiar wagons and horses. Ligon must have made arrangements to steal the Chimps’ horses and wagons. Mangolia thought, as a smile played on his lips. _How much more will he surprise me?_“Hello.” One of them, a lady, stepped forward “We were expecting you, Ligon has given us a breakdown on what is going on, he had planned on getting kidnapped for this very reason. And it seems things are going as planned. Oh. My name is Glacy, Glacy Vitro.” The young girl stretched her hand in a courtesy greeting.“He planned to get kidnapped?!” Mangolia couldn't keep the surprise from his voice, Ligon had surprised him again even without being here. The collective gasps behind him reiterated that he wasn't the only surprised one. Mangolia had barely been keeping it together after getting kidnapped, but someone was purposefully getting kidnapped?? “Don't look so surprised.” Glacy's voice was soft as she smiled at a stil

Morning came again in solemnity. Smoke still lingered over the camp, it was a daily ritual now, and the cries of newborns echoed faintly from the huts. The guards strutted proudly, their faces smeared with blood as if it were a badge of honor.Ligon sat by the pit wall, tracing patterns in the dirt with his fingers. Each mark mirrored the layout of the camp: guard routes, gate posts, armory huts, traps positionings, the stables, the wagon sheds, the route out of the forest. He had memorized them over the course of one week, he had been posted from one person's hut to another to work and at the end of each day, they are forced to watch one of them being taken and slaughtered for the ceremony.Mangolia stirred beside him. “You don’t sleep, do you?”“I do. You just sleep while I'm awake, through when I sleep and you finally wake while I'm awake again, what an....amusing individual you are.”Mangolia grimaced. “You’re talking like your sleep routine is normal.”“For me, it is,” Ligon said

"We've arrived." Kruel's deep voice rang over his shoulders as he stepped behind to open the now battered door, the children still in chains came out. Five men walked toward Kruel, engaging him in a conversation. Mangolia recognized the men's aura as the ones who pursued after him then, they must have followed behind their wagon. They turned, their eyes sharp as they scanned the children as if counting their numbers. One walked behind Ripo , shoving him and others in front of him, in the direction he wanted them to go.“Keep walking,” he snarled. His voice rasped like bark scraping against stone.Mangolia grunted, spitting a mouthful of saliva to the dirt. “You could at least offer your guests some water” he muttered. The back of a hairy fist cracked against his jaw before the words even finished leaving his lips.“Speak again,” said the chimpanzee, “and I’ll use your tongue for the ritual right now, rather than waiting for you to adjust.” his lips unfurled in an ugly grin, yellow

“So any plans of escape?” Mangolia cleared his throat, his voice, low yet firm , carried through the tight spaceNo one answered. The smallest boy in the middle, lifted his head, his clavicles popping out like dried twigs, his small head dangled on his thin neck as he tilted his head at Mangolia. “What a fool.” He snarled bitterly “do you think you can escape from the clutches of this wicked man? We are small, he is big, even a blind can see we stand no chance against that monster, so-”“You underestimate yourself.” Mangolia interrupted. “If we move together, one man cannot overpower us all.”The little boy smirked.“You must have been taken for ransom,” the boy started. His voice was soft, but something about it made the others glance his way, wary. “Fancy shirt, clean hands, freedom mentality. Definitely not one of us.”Mangolia straightened, tugging against his chains. “My suggestion isn’t because of my status but let me introduce myself. I am Mangolia Paul. My father will burn th
