Almost at the same moment, Roslyn posted on the social media platform.

The photo showed her fingers interlaced with Kaelen's.

Caption: He said he would give us a home.

In the comments, Kaelen's subordinates were already flooding the post with likes.

The wolves who had once looked at me with contempt were now congratulating the Alpha on this blessed union.

Not a single one mentioned my name.

As though a woman named Selene had never taken a poisoned blade to protect him, had never purged every last traitor from the pack on his behalf.

I sat on the sofa, expression blank, as I double tapped the post .

My comment read: "Congratulations. May you both be happy forever."

Less than ten seconds later, my comment was gone.

The next second, the door burst open.

Kaelen's voice carried the authority of someone long accustomed to command.

"Selene, what exactly are you trying to do? Are you trying to draw the wolf council's attention to yourself?"

I looked at him, my eyes calm as still water.

"I didn't, Kaelen. I was only fulfilling the last duty I owe you as your mate."

Kaelen frowned and gently took my hand.

"I know you feel wronged. Everyone knows tomorrow night was meant to be our bonding ceremony. But what you just said will make people think Roslyn is a woman who destroys relationships and violates pack law."

Through the mind-link came the faint sound of Roslyn sobbing.

"Kaelen, don't blame her. It's all my fault. I shouldn't have gotten pregnant at a time like this. I'll leave right now. I would rather die outside than bring shame to Dawnlight Pack."

Kaelen's voice immediately softened, carrying a tenderness he had never once shown me.

"Roslyn, this is not your fault. Tomorrow night, once the priest completes the ceremony, you will be my formally recognized Luna."

Then his voice turned cold as frost.

"Pay no mind to the gossip. Anyone who dares mock you, I'll tear apart myself."

He was silent for a moment, then stepped forward and pressed the Luna crown into my hands, his gaze warm and earnest.

"Babe, go apologize to Roslyn. What you said just now hurt her. She is in pain right now."

I looked down at the crown he had forced into my palm.

The sharp edges of the jewels dug into my skin.

What if I refused?

He drew a sharp breath, his voice rising as though he had just witnessed some great betrayal. "How did you become so cruel? Roslyn is pregnant and unmarried, already in a fragile position. She is frightened enough as it is. Do you still have to provoke her like this?"

"Fine. You don't have to apologize. But you need to make amends some other way. Write a letter. Tell everyone that you grew tired of this life, that you were the one who chose to break the mating vows."

  • The Alpha's Fading Moon   Chapter 10

Every day when I left home, I would see Kaelen at the border of the Moonshade Pack's territory. He stood there holding roses of every kind, and when he caught sight of me, he would hold them out.I never took them. He never lost heart, returning the next day with a different flower. My patience finally broke. "Stop sending them. I don't want to see you."He seemed not to hear a word of it, standing there in silence, staring at me with hollow eyes.He was commanding and cold, untouchable in his authority. I had never seen him lose composure as an Alpha.Yet in that moment, he seemed to have returned to that bitter winter night — alone, as though the whole world had cast him out."Kaelen, don't come looking for me anymore. I truly loved you once.""But now, I want nothing more to do with you."Kaelen finally vanished from the border. The days of recovery at home passed quietly. I followed my father, learning to handle pack affairs, filling the hours. Then came the news. The Dawnlight Pac

  • The Alpha's Fading Moon   Chapter 9

The day I returned to the Moonshade Pack, my father looked genuinely startled when he saw me dragging my luggage through the door."What brought you back all of a sudden?"I tried to hold myself together, but the moment I saw him, I fell apart."Kaelen and I dissolved the bond."Over the years my father had watched me quietly devote myself to Kaelen. He knew exactly how deeply I had loved him.In truth, Kaelen had never been my father's first choice for me.More than once, Father had told me that Kaelen was too calculating, too ambitious, nothing like me.I never listened. I always believed love could conquer everything.I had seen both the darkness and the light in Kaelen's life. I told myself I was someone special to him.But I had only been fooling myself. As Dawnlight Pack grew stronger over those five years, and since my feelings were so plainly genuine, my father eventually stopped saying anything.I told him everything about Kaelen and Roslyn, holding nothing back. My mother sho

The days that followed were deeply unsettling for Kaelen. He began losing sleep night after night, numbing himself with hard liquor. The old wound on his shoulder had started to ache again.Out of habit, he reached for the second drawer on the left side of his desk, searching for the healing herbs.Empty.Inside lay only a note Selene had left behind:"Remember to tell me when the herbs run out. And drink less. That old wound of yours will act up."He had found her fussing tiresome at the time and shoved the note into a corner. Now the herbs were gone, and there was no one to remind him. When the council meeting was called, he rifled through the files twice looking for the treaty documents. They were nowhere to be found.Without thinking, he picked up his phone and sent Selene a message:"Selene, where did I put the treaty?"No reply came. The severed Mind-link held nothing but silence. He stood still for a moment before it hit him. She had vanished from his world entirely. The elders

When the warriors brought Roslyn in, she still wore a delicate, innocent smile."Kaelen, why did you bring me here?"She reached for his arm. His men blocked her without mercy.Kaelen's gaze was hollow. He did not even lift his eyes."Roslyn, haven't you always wanted the position of Luna?"He tossed the Luna insignia onto the center of the table."Today, I'll give it to you myself."Roslyn stepped forward, but when she saw what was frozen on the screen, the smile on her face went stiff. It was a still frame of her face, twisted with cold malice, caught in the moment she had turned on Selene."Familiar?"Cold sweat broke out across Roslyn's skin. She shook her head frantically."You don't recognize it?"Kaelen finally raised his eyes. The next second, he pressed play.Do you know why Kaelen doesn't want you to have his pup?Because Kaelen wants a pup of noble bloodline. And you are not worthy. Her sharp, venomous whisper rang out clearly through the room.Roslyn crumpled to the floor,

  • The Alpha's Fading Moon   Chapter 6

Kaelen had imagined the bonding ceremony with Selene countless times. He would have the roses of Dawnlight Pack bloom for her, have every wolf in the pack bow before her, and under the blessing of the Moon Goddess, make her the happiest woman in the world. He always told himself to wait until things were more settled, until the timing was right. He always said later, and never noticed that all those delays were slowly cooling his mate's heart. The black SUV screeched to a halt outside the security center. Before the vehicle had fully stopped, Kaelen shoved the door open and strode into the hall."Where is the supervisor for the villa's surveillance footage?"The warrior on duty answered with a trembling voice: "Alpha, please wait. I'll contact Zane immediately."Minutes later, Zane arrived in a hurry, his expression complicated as he looked at Kaelen."Kaelen."Kaelen's gaze turned cold, like a thin layer of ice had settled over his eyes."What happened in that living room before Selen

Three hours later, Kaelen returned to the villa from the hospital.Roslyn was unharmed. The healer had given her some calming herbs and advised her to rest.He pushed open the door and called out of habit: "Selene."No answer.A maidservant hurried forward, her voice unsteady: "Alpha, Selene packed her things and left."The color drained from Kaelen's face. His throat worked with difficulty. He tried to reach Selene through the mind-link.There was nothing. Only a silence like death. He suddenly remembered the cold look in her eyes just before she left. He had been about to speak when Roslyn's cry of pain had pulled his attention away.Roslyn, standing nearby, listened to the maidservant's words and was quiet for a moment."Kaelen, don't panic.""Maybe this is Selene's way of getting back at you. She might just be trying to make you suffer, to force you to regret."Kaelen said nothing. He looked at Roslyn."Getting back at me?"Roslyn nodded, her fingers drifting lightly to his chest,
