Selene pov

“She’s burning up,” Maria said, holding me close.

I couldn’t even speak. Everything hurt.

“We need to get her to the pack house. Now.”

One of the guards rushed ahead. The other helped Maria lift me.

I couldn’t fight it anymore.

Everything went dark.

When I opened my eyes again, it was from the heat. Another wave slammed into me.

I woke up screaming.

“Luna, calm down, you’ll be okay….”

“Get more ice water!” Maria shouted to another maid in the room.

I was shaking, drenched in sweat.

“What’s going on?” I asked, tears sliding down my face.

“Luna… I don’t know,” Maria said, panicked. “I’ve never seen this before.”

“Everybody out,” Kael said as soon as he walked in.

“Alpha, she….”

“It’s fine,” he cut in. “You can explain later. Just leave me and the Luna alone for now.”

“What is going on, Kael?” I asked.

He didn’t answer. Instead, he walked up to me and tore the fabric off my body.

I gasped, from the heat and the pain. My skin was burning.

Without a word, I helped him, pulling the rest off myself.

Then he started taking off his own clothes, starting with his shirt.

I breathed hard, trying to stay conscious.

That’s when I noticed that he was sweating. A lot more than normal.

Something was happening to both of us.

He stripped until he was down to what barely covered him.

I tried not to stare but his toned abs, the way his hair clung to his skin… he looked like something carved from heat and sin.

When he was done, he climbed onto the bed and pulled me into his arms.

The moment our bodies touched, it was like ice was poured over mine.

The burning stopped.

Just like that.

“What was that?” I asked, breathing hard, trying to ignore the way his skin felt against mine… or the heat building between my legs.

“You’re in heat,” he said simply.

“But I’ve seen other werewolves in heat,” I whispered. “It wasn’t like this. Not this intense.”

He didn’t answer right away.

“Is it because of the blood bond?” I asked, feeling him tense behind me.

His silence told me everything.

“How did you know about the blood bond?” he asked, his voice low but edged with something I couldn’t quite place.

I turned to face him fully, ignoring the way my body still trembled in his arms.

“Just tell me the truth,” I said. “Why are you hiding it from me?”

He didn’t answer.

“I know you don’t like me much,” I whispered. “But I’m your mate, Kael. Whether you wanted me or not. And this… this affects both of us.”

“I’ll kill Sylvester,” he muttered under his breath.

“Sylvester didn’t tell me anything,” I said quickly. “How I found out isn’t important.”

I looked at him, feeling the heat of his skin still against mine.

“But why can’t we just complete the bond and go our separate ways?” I asked quietly. “I won’t come between you and Elara.”

I swallowed hard, then added, “Or better still… Let's just reject the bond.

“I would never reject the bond,” he said firmly.

“Why?” I snapped. “You don’t even want me. You—”

“That’s my problem,” he cut in. “Not yours.”

I stared at him, confused and angry.

“And about the blood bond…” he sighed. “Don’t think about it too much. It’s too unpredictable. We can’t stay too far from each other. We don’t know when this will happen again.”

“I wanted to know more about it before telling you,” he said quietly.

“Is that why Sylvester is always around?” I asked.

“Yes… kind of,” he admitted.

“Before I came to the rogue forest to find you… I already felt the bond. It started about a week before…but it was still weak, because you hadn’t come of age yet or maybe the bond hadn’t just clicked for you.”

I held my breath.

“But after I marked you,” he continued, “the signs of the blood bond showed up. I didn’t understand it at first. So I called Sylvester.”

“Is that why you haven’t tried to complete our mating bond?” I asked.

He sighed and leaned back, his walls going up again.

“You’re asking too many questions now,” he muttered, slipping back into that cold, detached tone I hated.

“Or…” he added, eyes flicking to mine, “are you just desperate for me to touch you?”

“What do you mean desperate?” I snapped, sitting up.

“Didn’t you feel the heat that almost consumed us both today?” I shot back. “From what I read, the blood bond feeds on our already existing emotions.”

“So I think that’s what’s amplifying the heat,” I murmured. “Normally, when a mate is found, they consummate the bond almost immediately….”

Before I could finish, he rolled over, pinning me to the bed.

His body pressed against mine, eyes locked on me.

“Do you usually ramble this much?” he said, his voice low and dangerous.

I parted my lips, too shocked at the shift in the mood to continue.

“I…”

The word barely made it out.

Raising one of my legs, he hooked it behind his waist, shifting just enough for me to feel the hard press of his length against my pussy.

“I thought you hated me,” he whispered, his breath brushing my ear. “Why do you sound so desperate for me now?”

“Who’s desperate?” I shot back, trying to blink away the angry tears burning my eyes.

I knew what he was doing…twisting the moment, shifting the topic…trying to distract me, trying to make me forget the truth.

“Ahh,” I moaned softly as he shifted again, the movement adding just enough friction between my legs to make me gasp.

I could feel his hard length pressing right against my pussy…each motion sending a rush of heat flooding through me, pooling low in my belly.

Just when I thought he would stop, he raised my second leg, shifting his waist to settle deeper between my thighs.

I clung to his neck, panting, my wolf whimpering from somewhere deep inside…loving the feel of his body against mine.

My nipples hardened instantly from the teasing pressure of his chest.

“Ahh…” I moaned, unable to hold it back.

Dropping my legs, he stopped moving…his chest rising and falling with each breath.

Then I felt the slow shift of my undergarment as he pushed it aside.

One finger circled my clit. My back arched on instinct, a soft gasp leaving my lips.

When he finally pulled his hand away, his finger glistened,it was coated with my juices.

His eyes darkened as he looked at it… then at me.

He moved up, his mouth finding one of my aching peaks, lips wrapping around my nipples as heat flooded through me.

At the same time, his fingers slid between my thighs, plunging deep, sending a cry tumbling from my lips.

I grabbed onto his hair, helpless under the way he touched me like he knew every part of me, like he owned every reaction.

The sound of our bodies, the soft rhythm of wetness and breath, filled the room.

His free hand teased the other breast, squeezing, rolling gently until the pressure made my toes curl.

Then he leaned up, pressing both my breasts together, and took me in his mouth again, groaning low like he couldn’t get enough.

My body trembled under him…needing more.

When I was a rogue, all I knew about intimacy came from the books I read.

Keisha somehow always found the explicit ones filled with breathless details and wild emotions I never thought I’d understand.

Sometimes I read them in secret, alone in the dark, touching myself and wondering if the real thing could ever feel that way.

But this… this was nothing like those pages.

This was raw and real.

Every touch from my mate pulled feelings out of me I didn’t even know I had.

He slid in a second finger, stretching me just right, while his mouth stayed latched to my breast…sucking, teasing, devouring me.

The sensation was overwhelming. I stopped moving, caught in the flood of pleasure as it crashed through me.

I felt my release spill over, soaking the sheets beneath us, my body trembling in his hold.

He pulled his fingers from me slowly.

Then, eyes locked with mine, he brought them to his lips and licked them clean, like he was savoring the taste of me.

This should be enough to keep the heat out for a couple of days,” he said, adjusting his clothes like nothing had happened.

“What about you? Don’t you….”

“Don’t worry about me,” he cut in, his tone colder now, snapping me out of the fragile bubble I was still floating in.

Then his eyes met mine..they were unreadable. “And don’t go poking around for answers about the blood bond. I’ll handle that myself. Just… stay out of my way.”

He turned and walked out without waiting for a response.

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 16-The tavern

Selene pov Walking into the tavern, everything seemed to still. Conversations died, cups froze mid-air, and every eye turned to us. They definitely weren’t expecting their Alpha…especially not with a girl like me by his side. Ignoring everyone, he walked straight to the receptionist…a beautiful girl with the same rich dark skin as his. She was smiling like she’d just won a trophy. “What brings you here today, Alpha?” she asked, completely ignoring me. “I need a room,” he said simply. “Somewhere I can stay till tomorrow.” Giving me a dirty look, she walked over to the board filled with keys, grabbed one, and handed it to him. “I’m sorry, there’s just one room,” she said….speaking only to him, like I wasn’t even there. “Don’t worry, we’ll stay together,” he said casually. “What?” she snapped, her mouth falling open like someone had just slapped her. Her eyes flicked to me, then back to him, disbelief written all over her face. I couldn’t help the small smirk that tu

Selene povI heard a low rumble above me…it was deep and threatening in a way that sent chills down my spine.I pushed hard, trying to shove the weight off me, but the wolf only growled louder, his jaws snapping close to my face like a warning.Realizing I had no other choice, I shifted back into my human form, collapsing onto the cold earth, breathless and shaking. The wolf towering above me shifted a second later, revealing a tall, broad-shouldered man with sharp eyes and a firm stance. He stepped back slightly but didn’t let his guard down.“Luna?” he said cautiously, still watching me like I might bolt.“I’m part of the military wolves,” he added, voice low. “Alpha Kael ordered a special watch on the border today… in case you tried to pass.”My chest tightened, fury and shame clashing inside me.Of course, he would already be aware of my absence.Kael was many things, but a fool wasn’t one of them. Even as kids, he was always one step ahead…he was the calculating, quiet, and dange

Selene povI paced around the room, feeling everything I didn’t know was possible.I felt hatred so much of it I could barely breathe. Hot and sharp anger ,beneath my skin.Disappointment, so heavy it dragged at my chest. But most of all, self-reproach.For letting someone drag me out of the life I was surviving, out of the place I had clawed through pain to call my own.I stopped by the window, gripping the frame tightly as the cold breeze hit my skin.I looked out at the world beyond the park house. From here, I could see the forest…faintly…resting far beyond the borders. The rogue lands.Rogues weren’t allowed to stay in any town for long.Yes, we could sneak in for food or medicine occasionally, but we couldn’t belong. We couldn’t mind-link.We couldn’t be claimed by a pack like normal wolves. Some wolves didn’t make it.Some went mad.Because it’s in our nature to belong to a pack, to a bond, to something. And when that’s taken away… the beast inside claws for control.I wondere

Kael’s POVI turned to walk out, trying to ignore the look of disappointment on her face.Clutching my chest, I made my way to my room, trying to shut out the painful feeling spreading through me like slow poison. And this wasn’t because of the blood bond between us.This was different. It was because of the hurt on my mate’s face.I walked down the long hall, trying to block out the sound of my wolf.He was clawing at my chest, growling at me to go back…To claim her.To protect her from the pain I keep causing. But I can’t do that ,not now.Elera stood at the end of the hall, right outside my door, wearing that same smug smile I wanted to rip off her face. She looked so much like Selene…,But how could two sisters be so different?.I ignored her, walking straight into my room. She walked in too, shutting the door behind her.Without a word, she came closer, wrapping her hands around me from behind as we both faced the mirror.“You made the right choice handing the banquet over to me

Selene pov“So the first lady is Lady Cassy,” Maria said, pointing to the top name on the list.I didn’t tell her I could read.“She’s a beta wolf,” Maria continued. “A skilled healer. She is a bit quiet but smart. Knows a lot about pack history and rituals. She’ll be useful.”I nodded slowly, already picturing her face in the group. I wasn’t looking for status. I needed people who knew what they were doing.“The next lady is Lady Alexa,” Maria said.“Someone I personally know and recommend.”She didn’t say more than that, but I could tell Maria trusted her. That was enough for now.She spent a few more minutes walking me through the rest of the names, pointing out details…who was from which house, what they were known for, and which ones had served in the pack house before. I listened, nodding where it mattered, but it was a lot to take in.Still, I was trying.I crossed my legs and leaned forward.“So what else do I need to know apart from the ladies-in-waiting?” I asked Maria. She

  • The Alpha's Forbidden Mate   Chapter 11 -Prepare for the banquet

Selene pov“Luna, are you okay?” Maria asked, rushing in the moment Kael stepped out.She froze when her eyes landed on me, noticing I was bare under the sheets. Her cheeks flushed deep red, and she immediately looked away, fidgeting with the hem of her apron.I didn’t blame her. Walking into such a scene can be quite distressing.“It’s fine,” I said softly, tugging the blanket higher. “You can look at me now. She peeked up nervously, and I offered a small, tired smile. I could see the questions on her face, but to her credit, she kept them to herself.“I’m sorry,” Maria said, flustered. “I didn’t think to help you out of your clothes. I just… I’ve never seen that kind of reaction before.”I let out a soft sigh, leaning back against the pillows. “It’s fine, Maria. I was just feeling a bit sick, that’s all.”She looked at me, unconvinced. Her brows were pinched, lips pressed together like she wanted to ask more but didn’t know how. I appreciated that she was trying to respect the line
