The sky above the Lycan border had turned the color of bruised iron. A torrential rain began to fall, freezing the moment it hit the dark, jagged stone of the Citadel's outer gates.

I stood on the high stone parapet, hidden from view by the deep shadows of the battlements. Down below, the iron gates groaned as a massive force gathered outside.

Dozens of Bloodstone vehicles and armed riders formed a dense, hostile semicircle in the snow. At the very front, astride a massive black warhorse, stood Kael.

He was no longer the pristine, smiling Alpha from the ballroom. His formal uniform was soaked through, mud splattered across his chest, and his sea-storm eyes were bloodshot and wild. He looked like a man possessed, his knuckles white as he gripped the reins.

The heavy iron gates of the Citadel slowly ground open.

Lucien walked out alone. He didn't bring an army. He didn't even draw a weapon. He simply stepped into the freezing rain, his long black coat trailing in the slush, his hands tucked casually into his pockets.

Yet, the moment his boots touched the open road, the horses of the Bloodstone vanguard began to rear back in terror, catching the scent of the apex predator.

"You are trespassing, boy," Lucien said, his voice quiet but carrying perfectly over the roaring wind.

Kael forced his horse forward, stopping a mere ten yards from the Lycan King. "I am here for what is mine, Lucien! Hand over Lyra, and we will leave your lands. This is a pack matter."

"A pack matter?" Lucien tilted his head, a chilling smile touching his lips. "The girl I found dying in the snow? The one you publicly rejected and branded a nameless servant before your entire lineage? She ceased to be your matter the moment you broke the bond."

"The rejection wasn't valid!" Kael roared, his voice cracking with desperation. He threw a heavy, rolled parchment onto the slush between them. "She lied to the pack! Her mother lied! She carried the blood of the Moon Queen. She is the rightful Luna of the Bloodstone Pack, and by ancient law, her place is by my side!"

Up on the parapet, my hands tightened around the stone wall. He doesn't want me, I thought, a cold, bitter wave of clarity washing over me. He just wants the crown.

Lucien didn't even look down at the scroll. He stepped forward, planting his heavy boot right on top of the ancient prophecy paper, grinding it into the muddy snow.

"The Moon Goddess gave you a mate, Kael. You chose a political alliance," Lucien hissed, his silver eyes flaring with a sudden, suffocating light. "You don't get to claim the queen after you threw her into the mud."

"I am her Alpha!" Kael shrieked, his wolf pushing so hard to the surface that fur began to sprout along his jawline. "I command her to return!"

"Then let us see if she hears you," Lucien murmured.

Slowly, the Lycan King raised his eyes to the high parapet, looking directly at the shadow where I stood. "Lyra. Your old master wishes to speak."

Every eye in the Bloodstone ranks snapped upward.

I stepped out of the shadows, walking right to the edge of the stone drop. The wind whipped my dark hair around my face, and the black dragon-hide armor gleamed under the gray sky. The silver fire beneath my skin pulsed, casting a faint, ethereal glow around my silhouette.

Kael’s breath caught. He stared up at me, his eyes widening in a mixture of awe and agonizing regret. I was no longer the girl in the stained apron. I stood tall, the posture of a warrior, looking down at him as if he were nothing.

"Lyra..." Kael choked out, extending a trembling hand toward me. "Lyra, please. I was blind. The elders lied to me about your status. Come back to the pack house. I will make you my Luna. I will give you everything you deserve."

I looked at the hand that had once allowed another woman's heel to crush my palm. I looked into the eyes that had stared at me with pure disgust just twelve hours ago.

"You didn't want a servant, Kael," I said, my voice echoing down from the wall, cold and steady. "And a Queen does not bow to a fool."

Kael’s face contorted in pure, agonizing rage. "You belong to me! I will burn this entire kingdom down before I let another man touch you!"

He drew his broadsword, the silver blade gleaming in the rain. "Charge!"

But before the Bloodstone warriors could even take a step, Lucien blurred.

He didn't hit Kael. He hit the ground.

Lucien slammed his fist into the earth, and a massive, shockwave of raw Lycan aura erupted from his body. The ground cracked open, a tremor ripping through the road that threw the horses off their feet. The sheer pressure of his power slammed into the vanguard like a physical wall, sending Kael flying off his mount and into the mud.

Lucien stood over the fallen Alpha, his claws fully extended, his silver eyes burning like twin stars.

"If you step one foot closer to my gates," Lucien whispered, the sound vibrating through the very bones of every warrior present, "I will not just kill you, Kael. I will erase your entire pack from the history books."

Kael scrambled backward in the mud, staring up at the Lycan King in absolute, paralyzing terror. He finally realized the gap between a regional Alpha and the ancient ruler of the Lycans.

"Retreat!" Thomas yelled from the back, dragging his terrified Alpha up by the collar and shoving him into a vehicle. "Retreat!"

The Bloodstone forces scrambled, turning their trucks and horses around in a chaotic panic, fleeing back down the mountain road like beaten dogs.

Lucien didn't follow them. He stood in the rain, watching them go, before slowly turning around to look up at me.

But as the adrenaline faded, a sharp, burning agony suddenly exploded in the center of my chest.

It wasn't Kael's bond. It was my own wolf. The silver fire inside me, triggered by the confrontation, was suddenly expanding too fast, tearing through my veins as the true awakening began.

I gasped, my vision going pitch black as I collapsed over the stone edge of the parapet, falling forward into the open air.

  • The Alpha's Greatest Mistake   Chapter 4: The Sound of Silver

The following morning, the Citadel did not wake to the sound of birds, but to the rhythmic, bone-jarring thrum of training daggers hitting target dummies.I stood in the center of the subterranean training hall, my chest heaving. Sweat slicked my skin, and my muscles burned with a fatigue I had never known. The training armor they had strapped me into—lightweight dragon-hide, black as coal—felt heavy and unnatural."Again," Lucien’s voice cut through the air, cool and detached. He stood ten paces away, his arms crossed over his chest. He hadn't lifted a finger to help me, yet his presence was a constant, crushing weight that forced me to be better.I lunged forward, blade outstretched. I was fast—faster than any omega had a right to be—but Lucien didn't even shift his feet. He simply flicked his wrist, and the wooden training sword in his hand caught my blade, sending a jarring vibration up my arm that nearly made me drop it."You are fighting like a pack servant," he critiqued, his s

The grand heavy doors of the Lycan Citadel slammed shut behind us with a deafening thud. The sound echoed through the massive black stone foyer, sealing me away from the only world I had ever known.I stood shivering on the cold marble floor. The oversized black sweater Lucien had given me swallowed my small frame, reaching down to my thighs. Hundreds of Lycan guards stood at strict attention along the perimeter of the room, their silver eyes tracking my every breath."Take her to the high tower suite," Lucien ordered, his voice echoing authoritatively off the vaulted ceilings. He didn't look back at me as he tossed his heavy coat to a waiting attendant. "Bathe her, feed her, and ensure she doesn't leave the room.""Wait," I called out, taking a step forward. My voice sounded small against the vastness of the hall. "Am I your prisoner?"Lucien stopped. He turned slowly, his sharp, aristocratic features completely unreadable under the glow of the crystal chandeliers."A prisoner is kep

The ground beneath me trembled as the Lycan King took another step forward. His presence was suffocating. The sheer weight of his aura pressed down on the clearing, forcing the dark trees to creak and groans under the pressure. Rogues froze in fear at the mere mention of his name, yet here he was, standing over me in the freezing snow."Stay... back," I choked out, my voice barely a whisper.Every breath felt like inhaling shards of glass. The rejection bond from Kael was a gaping, bleeding wound in my soul, while the silver fire of my awakening wolf threatened to tear my body apart from the inside out.Lucien Draven didn't listen. He moved with a terrifying, fluid grace, closing the distance between us until his towering frame blocked out the moonlight. He dropped to one knee in the snow, completely ignoring the frost biting through his dark, expensive trousers. Up close, the scent of ancient stone and intoxicating blood-wine washed over me, numbing the phantom scent of Kael's chocol

  • The Alpha's Greatest Mistake   Chapter 1: The Ashes of the Pack

The scent of roasting wild boar and expensive French perfume clung to the stone walls of the Bloodstone Packhouse. Tonight was the Ascension Ball.It was the night Kael Blackthorn would officially take his place as Alpha. It was also the night the entire pack expected him to announce his political betrothal to Lady Victoria.I kept my head low, the rough fabric of my servant’s apron scratching against my collarbone. I hauled another heavy tray of crystal flutes up from the kitchen. My hands were raw, chapped from scrubbing grease since dawn."Move it, Omega," a sharp voice snapped. Before I could step aside, a heavy combat boot shot out. I tripped, my knees slamming hard against the polished marble floor. The tray flew from my grip. Crystal shattered in a deafening cascade, sending shards of glass and expensive champagne spraying right over the designer heels of Victoria herself.Silence rippled through the grand foyer like a dropping stone."You clumsy, worthless little bitch," Victo
