The chilling night air hung heavy as Wade's uncle, Garret, towered menacingly over Harriet. His eyes bore into hers, cold and calculating. "You thought you could deceive us, didn't you?" Garret's voice was a low, menacing growl that echoed through the forest.

Harriet's heart pounded in her chest, fear coursing through her veins. She had never felt more vulnerable. "I never meant to deceive anyone," she protested, her voice trembling. "I had no choice but to survive."
