Emery
“Quite an entrance you had there. It’s like everyone shut their mouths all of a sudden.” I heard a male voice beside me. I turned my head towards the person and observed his appearance. He was good-looking and very.. I mean, very tall. I only reached up to his shoulders.
“Umm.. Hi. I thought my entrance was normal.”
“Oh, it sure was.” He said sarcastically. “How come I’ve never seen you before? The name’s Dalton, by the way.”
“Emery… I’m not from here.” I lied through my teeth. “I just wanted a change of scenery and I saw the announcement of the incoming Alpha’s birthday celebration on TV, so I decided to come.”
“Oooh, a fan of Kairo, I see.”
“I’m not a fan! It’s just, he’s someone admirable, you know?”
“I get it, I get it. I sometimes even wonder if he’s human.”
“Are you close with him?” I asked, wondering why he spoke so fondly of the Alpha.
“For your information Ms. Emery, you are looking at the one and only best friend of Alpha Kairo Ford.” I looked at him with wide eyes. “Are you joking?”
“I may look like a joke, but I take my friends very seriously.” He said, jokingly poking my shoulder.
“So, where is he now? This is his birthday but I haven’t seen him anywhere.”
“Oh crap. You just reminded me. That bastard is probably locked in his room. He hates parties.” He said while looking at his watch. “You’re chill, Emery. I’m sure Kairo would like you. Bye, for now. I better find that bastard and drag him to this party.”
“See you later,—” He left before I could even finish my sentence. I was welcomed by silence once again, so I decided to grab some food at the snack bar. I was about to grab some fruits when I felt a hot breath on my ear.
“What’s up, sweetie? Are you from around here?”
“Hi… no. Excuse me, please.” I said, trying to avoid his advances.
“Figures, no one’s as hot as you in this pack. Want to go for a walk? I’m mateless, don’t worry.” He said, blocking my way.
“I’m not interested. I’m going to go now.” I pushed past him but I felt a strong grip holding onto my wrist. “I’m not asking, sweetheart. I’m telling you to come join me for a walk.”
“And I’m telling you that I’m not interested. So, will you please let go?” I forcefully tugged my wrist away from his grip but he held it even tighter. “Feisty, eh? I like it when you say please. Come on, beg me even more.” He smirked, leaning even closer to me. I smelled his rancid breath so I stomped on his foot and elbowed him on the nose. He groaned in pain, holding his nose; so I took the chance to run away from the pervert.
I walked swiftly, avoiding the people in the party and bolted to the balcony. I let out a sigh of relief as I breathed in the fresh air. That guy’s breath really smelled like garlic bread. Ugh. I hated it.
“Oh, there you are! My sweet maid, I’ve been looking for you. You’ve made quite an entrance, huh? Think you're better than me now?” I looked over to the voice and saw Caitlyn with a couple of her friends standing beside her.
“Woah, this is your maid, Cait? You didn’t tell me that you had a sexy maid. I would have come over to your house more often if I knew.”
“Shut up, Damien! Do you remember the story about how my dad was seduced by some slut?”
I looked up and looked at Caitlyn with shocked eyes. “Well that was this maid’s mother, okay? And you know what they say—like mother, like daughter. Don’t you guys dare flirt with her if you don’t want to be snaked later.” She said, circling around me.
“Well, geez! You don’t have to remind me twice.” Damien said, moving away from me.
“But.. of course, our family is so forgiving that we even gave her a home to stay. I’m even friends with her! You know, she doesn’t have any friends."
"I have a great idea!” She chirpilly said, placing her arms around my shoulder. “Let’s go have a drink, hmm? We’ve got a room here. Why don’t you join us?” She laughed. “Oh, why do I even have to ask. Come. Join us.”
She dragged me to the room, her friends’ laughter can be heard behind us. “You better follow as I say bitch before I spill anymore news about your mother to the other pack members.” I dejectedly joined them as they sat on the floor in the middle of the room.
“Let’s play ‘Never have I ever,’ the one who has done something needs to take a shot of this.” Caitlyn said, pulling out a large bottle of vodka from underneath the bed.
“Where did you get that, Cait?” Damien asked. “Well, you know? Connections.” Caitlyn laughed.
“You’re the best, Cait,” was heard all around the room. Her friends elated because of the vodka.
“Okay, I’ll go first.” Damien said. “Never have I ever… been a virgin.” Whistles were heard, and Caitlyn looked at me mockingly. Two other females took a shot, but I didn't want to drink.
“Oh, come on Emery. You’ve never even held a guy’s hand. Drink up. Don’t be such a debby downer.” I reluctantly took the shot and Damien looked at me with hungry eyes.
A couple of questions were passed around, and it feels as though that they were all deliberately trying to get me to drink. If it wasn’t “first kisses” or “intercourse,” they mentioned things that only a person who was locked up for her entire life would be able to do. I was getting quite dizzy and Damien seems to be inching closer toward me.
“Oh! Me, I’m the last one!” Caitlyn said with her shrill voice.”The person who has done this should drink the remaining vodka in this bottle.” I looked at the bottle and saw that it was still a fourth full. “Nobody should reject it, okay? This is all just for fun.” Caitlyn said, winking at Damien. I found it strange. I had a weird feeling brewing inside of me.
“Never have I ever…had a mother that deliberately seduced a mated man and unclothed her body on his bed.” She said slowly, looking at me with sharp eyes.
I looked at her, betrayed. How could she do this to me? I felt my eyes heating up, tears were ready to spill from my eyes. “Come on, drink up Emery.” Damien urged while rubbing my back. I removed his touch away from my back and quickly stood up, wiping the tears on the corners of my eyes.
Damien held my hand. Why are people so adamant in holding my hand today? “Where are you going? You still haven’t done the punishment.”
“I’m leaving.” I said, looking at Caitlyn with cold eyes.
“Oh, stop being a prude! Just drink the fucking vodka. Can’t you see that you’re ruining the mood here?” I looked around and saw the disgusted looks of her friends. Caitlyn went closer to me and placed the bottle on my lips, forcing me to drink the intoxicating liquid. “Drink up, whore.”
I couldn’t take it anymore. I grabbed the vodka bottle from Caitlyn and poured it over her head. “You are such an evil being.”
I hit Damien's hand with the bottle, leading it to break on the floor. The girls screamed from the sight of the broken glass, so I quickly dashed out of the room and went to the next floor in the house. I heard footsteps running behind me so I ran again to the higher floor.
Luck wasn’t on my side because almost all of the doors on this floor were locked.
I panted as I fumbled the door handles. “Please, please, please open up.” I heard their footsteps getting nearer so I bolted to my last chance— the highest floor of the house.
“Fuck Damien, why are you so slow? I already gave you a chance to fuck my maid and you’re just going to let go of the chance?” I heard Caitlyn’s voice. “Come out Emery. You’re going to enjoy Damien’s surprise for you.” She chuckled.
I ran even faster, trying to muffle the sound of my footsteps so that they wouldn't hear me. I arrived at the highest floor of the pack house and was surprised to see a long hallway, leading to a single door. I ran to the door, praying that it was open. “Oh god. Please, just this one.”
My hand reached out to the handle. I let out a deep breath and opened the door with all my might.
Third Person’s POV On a warm evening in April, the Ford family members are all gathered at one table. Emery prepared their favorite foods, and it seemed like things were going well. They looked like a perfect family, and they are! However, Emery and Laura started talking hushedly and giggling as the dessert was served. Kairo leaned closer to her lovely ladies in an attempt to hear their conversation. Laura turned to her swiftly and scooted closer to her mom. “What are you doing, dad? Can’t you see that mom and I are talking?” Kairo pouted and bitterly ate his black forest cake. “You’ve changed. You used to tell everything to daddy. But I guess you’re too cool for that now.” Laura is now in middle school, and Kairo has been feeling melancholic these past few days. He feels like time is moving too fast, and his once cute children can now live without depending on him. Laura sighed and pushed her seat back in its original placement. “I always tel
Dalton“You signed me up for what?” I asked incredulously as I looked at my group of friends. They were all looking at me with wide eyes, and I couldn’t help but sigh out.Emery fiddled with her fingers and avoided my gaze. “We kind of signed you up for a speed dating event.”I threw my head back and pinched the bridge of my nose. “Out of all things that you could have signed me up for, you signed me up for speed dating? You could have signed me up for a hotdog-eating event, horseback racing, corn tending, you could have even signed me up for a Japanese karaoke reality show, and I wouldn’t hesitate to agree. But this! This is too much!” I said and shook my head.Karina went over to me and shook my shoulders. “Oh, come on, Dalton! All of the events that you’ve suggested are even weirder than the speed dating event! We saw the ad on a very reliable site, so you don’t have to worry about its l
DevynThe birds chirped as I removed the sheets from my body. I wrapped my arms around myself when I felt a soft breeze brush against my bare skin. I let out a deep breath as I felt the bright and vibrant sun lightly hitting my closed eyelids.Wait… Sunlight? Why am I feeling sunlight?I always wake up before sunlight.I jolted up from my bed and checked the time on my phone.8:00 AMWhat the fuck! Why the hell didn’t my alarm go off? I looked at my set of alarms and saw that they were all turned off. I slammed my phone down on the bed and screamed the name of the one and only culprit.“Arlo! You motherfucker!” I screamed while making my way downstairs to find that bastard. He was sitting on the dining table, leisurely sipping his coffee.“Oh! You’re awake. Good morning, brother. Great day, isn’t it?”I walked closer to him and slammed my fist down the table. The mug
ArloI looked at myself in the mirror and could not help but whistle in satisfaction. Staring back at me is the most handsome and charming man that I’ve ever seen. Of course, that man is me. The music in the background only amplified my beauty, and I couldn’t help but look at myself in wonder. However, my self-loving session ended when someone turned off the music. I turned around to scold the culprit and saw my mom.“Mom! What are you doing in my room? Privacy, please!” I said exasperatedly. She gave me a tired look and went beside me. “Arlo, please. I love you very much, and you’re a very handsome boy. But you’re turning borderline narcissistic. You’ve been hanging out too long with your uncle Dalton. I need to speak to your father about this.”I gestured towards my new shoes and complained. “But Uncle Dalton’s a cool guy, mom! He just bought me some new shoes for my first day of s
Third Person’s POVEmery stood anxiously by the door while Kairo bounced in excitement. It has been a while since they’ve gone out on a date, and today, they finally got the chance to do that. Kairo went all out and booked an expensive hotel just outside the city for Emery and him.“Are we really leaving our kids to him?” Emery asked.“Hey! What’s wrong with me?” Dalton asked, distastefulness heard in his voice. “Just look at the kids! They’re so behaved now that I’m here.”After Dalton said that statement, Laura pushed off the contents of the living room table while Arlo chased Devyn with a worm. It seems like the house became more chaotic with Dalton just being there.Emery looked at him incredulously. “Are you serious?” She turned back to Kairo and held onto his shoulders. “Let’s have our date some other time, okay? Maybe when the kids get older.”
KairoToday, Emery is taking Arlo and Devyn to their monthly haircut, so I had to stay at home to take care of baby Laura all by myself. Laura is now three years old, and she’s the most energetic that she’s ever been. She wasn’t awake yet at the moment, so I had some time to breathe for myself.Emery had just finished arranging the boys’ bags when I went behind her to give her a back hug.She chuckled and turned around. She brought her arms around my neck and gave me a peck on my pouty lips. “What are you acting like a big baby for?” She asked softly.“You’re leaving me alone,” I whined.Emery chuckled. “I’m only going to take the boys for their haircut. It’s only going to take two hours at most. Besides, this is going to be a great opportunity for you to exercise your fatherhood. You haven’t even tried being alone with Laura now that she’s a toddler.”
