Lucian's POV.

Sarah sits on a cold bench in one of the stone outbuildings, arms crossed, eyes heavy with exhaustion. I stand near the door, arms folded, glaring. Talon and Dorian flank the wall like statues of war, and Malakar stands directly in front of her, gaze steady and unreadable.

"We're not here to play games." Talon says, voice sharp. "If you came here for redemption you better start talking."

"We need to know everything." Malakar adds. "Where the hunters are. What they're planning. What weapons they're carrying. Every detail counts."

Sarah exhales slowly. "I told you, I don't know where they went after Malachai kicked me out. They never stay in one place for long. They're always on the move. It's how they've managed to stay alive this long."

"Convenient." Dorian mutters.

Sarah meets his glare. "Do you want me to help or not?"

I finally step forward. "Then what do you know? Anything about their next move? Their strategy?"

"No." She says, frustration creeping in. "I don't know

Hope's POV.Lucian lies crumpled on the forest floor, already back to his human form, blood staining his bare chest and arms, his breaths shallow and ragged. I drop to my knees beside him after retrieving my medical bag. I tare it open with trembling fingers. His skin is slick with sweat and the veins near the gash are already turning black."Lucian." I whisper urgently, brushing damp hair from his forehead. His eyes flutter open. Unfocused but aware. "Stay with me. You hear me.""Hope..." He rasped."Don't talk." I order. My fingers smear with his blood as I examine the wound. My stomach drops. The poison is spreading. Fast. It has already eaten into the tissue around the gash and is blackening his side at an alarming rate. The toxin has entered his bloodstream. There isn't much time."Lucian." I say, snapping on gloves. "Your healing - can it regrow things like muscle? Bones?"He blinks, dazed. "What?""Flesh. Bone. Organs." I press. "Can your body regenerate them?"Lucian hesitates

Hope's POV.I sit curled on the front porch of the pack house, a mug of untouched tea cooling in my hands. My eyes are fixed on the treeline, heart pounding with each gust of wind that rustles the leaves. Malakar and Lucian have been gone too long. A knot of unease twists in my stomach.Suddenly, a flurry of movement catches my attention.Talon, Dorian, and the rest of the warriors storm past me, their bodies already beginning to shift mid-stride - bones cracking, fur bursting through skin, jaws elongating as their snarls fill the air. The ground trembles with the force of their fury as they disappear into the woods, headed in the same direction as Malakar and Lucian.I leap to my feet, heart in my throat. "What's going on?" I call after them, but none of them stop.Morgana steps out of the front door just then, her expression pale and drawn, her eyes wide with worry."Morgana." I rush to her, grabbing her arm. "What's happening?"Morgana looks at me with a seriousness that chills me

Malakar's POV.I find Lucian beneath the canopy of twisted oaks, the moonlight breaking through the leaves in jagged shards. Lucian's pacing stops the moment he senses me, but he doesn't look up. His shoulders are rigid, fists clenched at his sides."Lucian." I call out quietly. He doesn't respond.I approach him slowly, cautiously, like one might approach a wounded animal. "You stormed off after the meeting. Everyone noticed.""I needed air." Lucian says flatly, still avoiding my gaze."You don't look like a man who just needs air. You look like a man carrying a secret that's breaking him in two."Lucian turns away, jaw tight. "Let it go, Malakar.""I can't. Not when something is clearly wrong. If it's about the pack... about their safety. I need to know."Lucian lets out a low, humorless laugh. "It's always about the pack, isn't it? Never about the mess that came before them."My brow furrows. "What are you talking about?"Lucian hesitates. His mouth opens and then closes again. He

Malachai's POV.Fifteen years ago.The sky had been a deep, blameless blue. Birds sang overhead, and the wind whispered gently through the trees like a lullaby. I was only twelve. My biggest worry being how to sneak extra marshmallows into my pack without my mother noticing. My father walked ahead with his usual commanding stride, my mother beside him, laughing at something that my little sister had said. And then - the forest changed. The air turned wrong. The birds stopped singing. The wind went still. I felt it first - a crawling dread that skittered up my spine like insects. My father stopped. His eyes scanned the trees."What is it?" My mother had asked. That's when it came.A blur of gray and red exploded from the treeline. One moment, my father was standing. The next, he was on the ground screaming, blood spurting from his neck as enormous jaws ripped through him like paper. The sound - the wet tearing, the crunch of bone - it would haunt me forever. My mother screamed. She gra

Hope's POV.The silence that Lucian leaves behind buzzes with uncertainty. Myself, Malakar, Talon, Dorian, and Sarah exchange uneasy glances, still processing his sudden change in demeanor."Something shifted in him." I mutter, crossing my arms. "Like he's seen a ghost."Talon nods slowly. "Or realized something that he doesn't want to admit.""He's hiding something." Dorian adds. "And I don't think he's going to be talking about it anytime soon."Malakar's eyes linger on the direction that Lucian went. "Whatever it is... it shook him."He turns back to the rest of us, now focusing on Sarah. "Talon, Dorian, give us a moment." His tone leaves no room for argument. The two betas hesitate for a moment before nodding briefly and stepping outside. Once the door shuts behind them, Malakar turns to Sarah, his expression firm but not unkind."You kept bringing up Hope's name. Even when we first found you."I shift uneasily beside Malakar. "Yea, you made it sound like he's... fixated. Why? Wha
