I shrugged, the slow light of the morning sun stretching across the room. A muffled groan coursed free from my lips as I turned in bed.

“Fuck! Don’t scare me like that!” I retorted, recoiling away as soon as I saw Kate. She sat, bunched, her face peering at mine intently.
