JACE’S POV

I missed the fucking hockey meeting. I’d never done that before, not once, not even when I’d had a split lip and a broken rib from practice the night before, not even when I’d been hungover as shit, not even when my father had been chewing me out for hours about being worthy of the damn pack. But tonight I sat in Killian’s room instead, hunched over on his bed like a complete waste, staring at the carpet until the patterns blurred, my claws pushing through just enough to sting my palms. My wolf paced under my skin, restless, pissed, snarling at me, but I couldn’t drag myself up, couldn’t even look at my stick leaning in the corner because guilt clawed me so deep it felt like I’d never breathe again.

Killian didn’t yell. That was the worst part. He sat at the desk edge, arms crossed tight, jaw like stone, eyes locked on me in that way he had when he was figuring out if I was worth the time of day or not. He’d always been the one to kick my ass, shout in my face, slam his st

  • The Alpha's Ice Queen   Chapter 78

AIDEN’S POVI stood at the far corner of the bleachers, arms folded tight across my chest, the cold metal biting through my jacket, but I barely fucking felt it. My eyes were glued on Jace—out there on the rink, tearing himself apart like a lunatic. His stick swung wild, hard enough to echo against the boards, hard enough that I thought he’d crack the damn ice itself. His breath came out harsh, sharp, breaking. His shoulders hunched, his whole body shaking like he’d come apart in front of me. Blood dripped down, staining the ice in ugly red splatters that spread wider with each swing until it looked like a crime scene. And for a second—a single stupid second—I couldn’t breathe. Because it wasn’t supposed to look like that. I hated him, yeah, I fucking hated him with everything in me, because Father never looked at me the same way he looked at him, because Jace always had the upper hand, always got the praise, the pat on the back, the nod that said *you’re enough.* I wanted to see him

  • The Alpha's Ice Queen   Chapter 77

JACE'S POV.I couldn’t fucking breathe. My chest felt like someone had shoved claws in and ripped it wide open, my wolf thrashing, snarling, demanding I turn the car back around and drag her out of that house, remind her who the fuck she belonged to. But her words echoed over and over in my skull like poison, *Derek will be here soon. I’m with Derek now. You lost.* Lost. Me, Jace, the one who’d been her mate since the Moon Goddess decided, the one who felt her heartbeat in my fucking bones, the one who’d kissed her like my soul was burning out—lost to Derek, the asshole who’d been circling like a vulture ever since he knew what she meant to me. My claws tore grooves into the steering wheel, and I didn’t give a shit if the leather split. I wanted it to break; I wanted something to break, anything to match the gaping hole splitting me in half.By the time I realized where I was driving, I was outside Derek’s place, tires screeching as I slammed to a stop so hard I nearly went through t

NINA’S POV I stood there pinned against the wall, panting heavily, lips swollen from the heat of the kiss. Derek’s forehead rested lightly against mine, his breath uneven, his hands still holding my face like I was something fragile.“Gentle,” he repeated, softer now, like he was reminding himself as much as me. “I don’t want to hurt you. Not you.”The words scraped something raw inside me. My throat felt tight. I wasn’t used to being looked at like that, like I fucking mattered for more than just a bond I never asked for. I swallowed, forcing myself to breathe.“I’m not breakable,” I whispered, though the way my voice shook made me wonder if it was true.Derek pulled back just enough to search my face. His eyes were steady, his thumb brushing across my cheek. “I know. But that doesn’t mean I want to treat you like you’re some game. I want you to know I mean this.”He kissed me again, slower this time, softer. Less fire, more ache. His lips trailed along my face, down my neck, linge

NINA’S POVThe silence in Derek’s house pressed down on me until I felt like I couldn’t breathe. Everything around me gleamed too perfectly, and I sat on the couch with my knees bouncing up and down like they couldn’t stop on their own, fingers clawing at the seam of my jeans. My wolf paced inside me, claws dragging against my chest, growling low, restless. She hated this silence. She hated what I saw tonight. And she hated that my head wouldn’t stop replaying Jace—his mouth, his kiss, the way his scent wrapped around me like fire. The way he ripped it away the very next day, shutting me out like I was nothing.Fuck him. Fuck Jace and his confusing bullshit. But still, every time I tried to breathe, my chest ached for him, my wolf howled for him. And it pissed me off more than anything else.I tore my eyes up at Derek. He stood by the tall window, blinds casting lines across his face. His cheek was still flushed red from where his father’s hand had landed earlier, a handprint that sho

  • The Alpha's Ice Queen   Chapter 73

NINA’S POV I told myself a hundred times I shouldn’t have agreed to this, and yet my feet kept moving anyway, carrying me away from the school and toward Derek’s house like I had no say in the matter. The way he had grabbed my hand in the parking lot, the way he tugged me along with that same mischievous grin he’d always worn—it had done something to me. And maybe, just maybe, I had let it.It was easier to pretend I wasn’t making the choice. Easier to say he had pulled me here, dragged me, convinced me. But the truth? I hadn’t pulled away. Not once. The air outside was sharp with autumn chill, the kind that burned the lungs a little when you breathed too fast. Derek was walking just ahead of me, still holding my hand like he was afraid I’d change my mind. His grip was firm, warm, steady. I hated that it made me feel secure. I hated that it felt so different from Jace’s touch, rough and overwhelming, like he was always fighting with himself even while holding me. Derek wasn’t like th
