Chapter 17: Summer is Grounded.

Summer's Point of View

Because of what I did, I was grounded, and Dad never stopped criticizing me until Mom stopped him. They seized my phone, so I was just lying in bed staring at the ceiling.

I went downstairs and observed that it was unusually quiet; I'm guessing that they had already gone to bed. I crept out to their room to retrieve my phone, which was on top of the table next to my parents' bed.

I did get my phone back and was ready to leave their room when it began to ring loudly. I dashed upstairs to return to my room and answer the phone.

"Summer!"

"Sam?"

"Yeah, it's me,"

"Why did you call?" "You do realize I'm grounded, don't you?"

"Yeah, I know, you said your phone was taken?"

"Yeah. I went out to retrieve it and then got your call,"

"Oh, that's cool. "I have something to tell you,"

"What is it?"

"I got news that there's a new barista at our favorite bar,"

"Tom's bar?"

"Yeah, check it out to see who is it, aren't that exciting?"

"Are you crazy? "I couldn't do it."
