Stefan's POV

My eyelids parted as my wolf stirred within me. I frowned, realizing I had woken up in a strange environment.

Then, it hit me like a storm, mom had remarried yesterday. I was a bit happy about the marriage to be honest, because I'd finally have a father figure in my life after all these years.

Her new husband was rich, handsome, and controlled the most powerful wolf pack, what's there not to like.

But there was this nightmare. My step brother,it seemed like he didn't like me. Which was understandable. I heard he just lost his mother recently.

A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts. It was a maid informing me to get ready for school. I smiled, because of mum's new bond,I could attend nevermore. The school only alpha's cubs could afford.

Mother married Alpha Kael for this. So I could get a better life.

I happily took my bath and went down for breakfast. The chairs were empty, except for him— Adrian. He was seated at the head of the table having bread and tea.

As I walked down the stairs,he looked at me like he was boring into my soul and entire being. I gently sat down after mumbling good morning.

Some minutes later, mom and alpha Kael came downstairs for breakfast too.

“My darlings,” mom greeted Adrian and I with a smile.

Adrian didn't even look up,he kept eating like nothing happened.

“Good morning mom. How was your night?” I smiled warmly at her.She smiled back “Good my dear.”

Her gaze turned to Adrian. “How was your night,Adrian?”

Adrian finally looked up. “Deadly,” he smirked.

Mom slightly raised a brow before sitting down. Alpha Kael hadn't spoken a word since he arrived,it seemed he wasn't one for talks.

After breakfast, Adrian and I got into the car taking us to school. It felt weird as I wasn't used to such luxury. “Don't get too comfortable.” Adrian smiled at me, although I could tell it wasn't genuine.

The thought of going to the same school as him clawed at my throat, but I had to keep my cool. As the car drove forward,I could see the peaks of the legendary Nevermore school I'd always dreamed of attending.

“Don't get too excited.” Adrian gave a raw laugh, ruining my moment.

I just rolled my eyes and looked away. My lips parted as we drove through the large gates. The compound was more than I had imagined. It was way beyond beautiful.

Immediately we got down from the car,a swarm of ladies approached us.

I was confused at first, but they all gathered around Adrian instead.“Adrian, you look so hot.” One of them complimented Adrian.

“Want to see how quick I can make you wet?” Adrian smirked, flashing his white teeth at them.

A series of wild events and imagination flashed through my mind. “Jerk!” I mumbled before leaving.

Unfortunately,I was put in the same class as Adrian. As I stepped into the class, the air shifted and they all turned to look at me. I could hear them whisper and sneer that I got into the school illegally. I didn't care. Their opinions didn't matter.

Adrian stepped in not long after,he had his buttons undone, revealing his well built chest underneath the uniform. He was clearly thirst trapping, and everyone was falling for it.

“Adrian is so hot.”I heard the girl beside me whisper.

I watched as he took heavy steps towards my table with a smirk. As he passed by,I could smell his perfume. It was really inviting and the scent lingered in my nostrils for a while. I wondered why he was so cold to me. Always looking at me intensely with hate or with a cold smirk.

As classes went on,I couldn't help but think of the way he had been intimate with me on the party night. The way he had whispered in my ear was weird. He said I hated him,but I didn't. It was just a really awkward moment.

Immediately it was break time, everyone dashed hungrily to the cafeteria to have lunch, except Adrian. He was busy flirting with a girl at the back of the class. Who wouldn't want the hot alpha's son?

Immediately I got into the cafeteria,I felt an arm wrap around my waist and pull me close. My eyes widened as I looked at the stranger whose arms I was in. He looked at me with a smile, his eyes staring into mine deeply. He was a beauty to behold.

“You should be careful next time, that guy was about to crash into you.” He smiled.I blinked multiple times before I finally came back to my senses. “Thank you,” I said, straightening myself.

I dug my hand in my pocket, but it was empty. It seemed I'd forgotten my meal ticket in my bag.

I had to get it so I could eat lunch before the break was over.

As I walked through the hallway,I stopped to admire the paintings on the wall describing how werewolves came to existence.

As I walked closer to the class, I could hear sounds. Muffled moans. Or maybe it was someone humming, I couldn’t really tell.

My stomach rumbled again, reminding me of my original mission, so I quickened my pace.

The moment I got to the doorway, I froze.

I caught sight of Adrian’s hips snapping brutally against another lady’s. They were f****** themselves in the classroom without shame. I turned around immediately, but the pen I was holding fell to the ground, alerting them of my presence. I quickly averted my gaze.

Adrian quickly covered her with her clothes and asked her to leave.

“You really lit up the room.”Adrian's voice shot at me, leaving the bitter taste of sarcasm.“I was just coming here to sit,” my fingers trembled slightly as I spoke, mainly because I was afraid of him. Afraid of his coldness.

“Just to sit? Your expression some minutes ago looked like you wanted to replace that girl I had.” He laughed at me.

“You wish,” I muttered, sitting on a chair.

“Tread carefully, brother. You're new here. You should come to the party I'm hosting this evening.” He smirked in a way that made his offer seem like a trap.

“I think I'll just do my homework.” I tried to fake a smile so he wouldn’t notice how scared I was.

“And didn't dad strictly say no parties?” He only laughed at me.

“Homework?”

“You should come to the party if you know you really want friends this semester. Right now,it seems like no one here likes you.” I could see his fangs elongate as he walked out of the class, leaving me to my thoughts.

It seemed this was going to be my worst year.

  • The Alpha's Possession   Chapter 43

Adrian's Pov I left the council chamber like I’d been unstitched. I didn’t say anything. I didn’t look at anyone. The hall kept going and going until the weight of the decision had time to set in properly. Losing the title felt like someone had taken a piece of me, it was not just a name on a door. It was permission to open things, to pull threads, to get people to move. Without it everything felt locked behind polite faces and new rules.I went straight to my father’s office because it was the only place that made noise I could stand. The guards did not stop me. They looked at me like you look at someone you have loved and are not sure what you are supposed to do next. The room smelled the same, the only difference was that the air around it no longer hummed with my authority.Maps lay where I had left them, scent notes folded into a corner, paper like a fragile city. Every time I tried to pin the investigation down the bond pinged and pulled, useless and constant. Stefan’s fear thr

  • The Alpha's Possession   CHAPTER 42

Dawson's PovIf stress had a smell, Adrian wore it like cologne but not the "fresh linen" kind, more like "burnt toast and coffee," and honestly, who could blame him. I’d been tracking the tech’s movements like a dog with a bone all morning, but the thing that kept most of my attention wasn’t rogue maintenance logs or deleted camera files. It was Adrian, and how he was fraying at the edges in real time.I walked back into the packhouse hoping for a clear plan and found instead a hurricane of paper. Maps, printouts, sticky notes clinging to everything like evidence had wallpapered the strategy room. Adrian was right in the middle of it, looking like someone who’d lost a very important argument with a spreadsheet. He wasn’t organizing — oh no. He was doing the exact opposite of organization: flipping, grabbing, tearing his eyes from one page to the next before the thought could finish."Adrian," I called. "You seen the perimeter checks? Tyler wants the west lane secured."He flipped a p

  • The Alpha's Possession   Chapter 41

Adrian's POV I returned to the packhouse with my mind still processing the evidence from the northern building. The glove. The scent transfers. The link between Cassandra and the technician. Everything pointed to a coordinated effort, and I needed time to organize my next move. But time wasn't something I had.My phone buzzed. A message from Councilwoman Marsh.Emergency council meeting. Conference room. One hour.I stared at the screen. An emergency meeting now, when every second mattered in finding Stefan, felt like the worst possible timing. But I couldn't ignore the council. Not when they held authority over pack decisions.I drove back to the packhouse and arrived with ten minutes to spare. The conference wing was already occupied. Several council members sat around the long table, their faces serious. The glass walls made the room feel exposed, like everything happening inside was on display for the entire pack.I took my seat at the head of the table. Tried to project confiden

  • The Alpha's Possession   Chapter 40

Adrian's POV I left the mansion with the northern storage building marked on my map.The location was tucked behind an old service road, hidden by overgrown trees and forgotten by most of the pack. Perfect for someone who needed privacy and time to work without being noticed.I drove fast, my hands tight on the steering wheel. The mate bond pulled at me again. Faint. Inconsistent. A thread of fear that drifted through the connection and made my chest ache.Stefan was scared. Or hurt. Maybe both.Every moment spent gathering evidence felt like time he didn't have. But I couldn't rush in blind. Not when we were this close. When I reached the building, Dawson was already there. He stood near the entrance, scanning the exterior with careful eyes.Lauren arrived moments later, carrying a small kit for analyzing scents and chemical residue."Door's been tampered with," Dawson said without looking at me. "Lock's new. Hinges are clean. Someone's been maintaining this place."I walked over an

Adrian's PovThe briefing had been a carousel of maps and updates, names, times, grid squares we’d already run through until the edges blurred. I came back from it with my shoulders doubled under the weight of decisions and a heart filled with regret. Every hour that passed without Stefan pulled the mate bond taut until it was an ache. It was small things, the way my hands kept twitching toward my phone, the way my voice had gone thin and quick when I barked orders. Distraction was a luxury I couldn’t afford. Our enemies wanted me scattered; my job was to be solid. Then Lauren asked to see me.I should have felt relief. Instead I felt the pre-warned when you know someone’s about to hand you bad news with perfect packaging. She met me in the strategy room with that expression of hers as if she was already three moves ahead and furious that we’d been a step behind. She didn’t waste my time with pleasantries."Adrian," she said, dropping a stack of papers and the clear evidence bag with

  • The Alpha's Possession   Chapter 38

Lauren's PovI started the morning like I’d started every morning this week: with too much coffee and a spreadsheet in front of me. Dawson had been feeding me search updates all night and I’d slept like a person who wakes up and immediately regrets every minute of sleep. I laid everything out on the long table in the strategy room like I was trying to build a map out of mess: reports, timestamped photos, scent notes, camera stills, and the sealed evidence bag with the fabric Dawson found tucked into it.The fabric sat there, I didn’t open the bag, chain of custody is not a suggestion but the tear pattern was obvious enough through the plastic. It matched the missing piece on Cassandra’s jacket down to the fray. That made Cassandra look bad on paper...like real bad.But my gut is a jealous, nitpicky thing, and it doesn’t read paper...my gut read gaps.I pulled the chemical analysis up again, the lab notes were like someone trying too hard to be clinical. The residue on the fabric match
