Chapter 41

Lizzy and I were tired from our run when we got back home, so tired that we fell asleep almost instantly. It was a shame, she seemed more confident when she started to tease me before her shift. I had been hoping we could come home and explore that newfound confidence together.

Waking up slowly, I reached over to wrap my arms around her. It was strange, normally when I woke up Lizzy’s head would be resting on my chest and our legs would be intertwined. I was missing the heat from her body and the soft tingles I felt when my skin touched hers. Now that Lizzy’s wolf was awake all of these sensations were so much more intense and I craved her touch so much more.

As I reached across the bed, I realised that Lizzy’s half of the bed was cold. My eyes shot open. She wasn’t in bed with me any longer, panic filled me as my eyes scanned the room. She was nowhere to be seen but her scent was still strong in the room so she couldn’t have gone far.
