I wasn’t sure I wanted a party throwing for my benefit but I couldn’t fault the pampering session that Jasper’s mom had organised for me. When I arrived at the Alpha’s mansion Patti was there waiting for me. She ran up to me, wrapping her arms around my neck and squealing excitedly.

Jasper’s mom rolled her eyes and ushered us both upstairs to one of the spare bedrooms. At some point while I was gone it had been converted into some kind of beauty studio. There were dressing tables all along one side of the room and they were covered with more make-up and colours of nail varnish than I have ever seen in one place before. Patti looked incredibly excited when she walked into the room to see everything lined up and waiting for us, but I found so much choice a little overwhelming.
