Kael Voss

The scout’s words hung in the air like poison. Draven had messed with Elias’s heat on purpose. A serum. Some twisted plan to make sure whoever bought him would bond fast. My blood boiled so hot I could barely think straight.

I turned away from the unconscious scout on the floor and looked at Elias. He stood there frozen, one hand on his stomach with his face pale . The bond between us was screaming with his shock and confusion. It hit me hard, like a punch to the gut.

“Get him out of here,” I told Riven. My voice came out rough. “Lock him up. I’ll deal with him later.”

Riven nodded and dragged the guy away without a word. Smart. He knew when to stay quiet.

I stepped closer to Elias and put my hands on his shoulders. He was shaking a little. “Hey. Look at me.”

He lifted his eyes. Those storm-gray ones looked lost. “He planned it, Kael. My heat… us. Was any of it real?”

I pulled him against my chest before he could say more. His body fits there too well now. “It’s real,” I said. “The bond is real. The pup is real. Whatever Draven did, he doesn’t get to take this from us.”

Elias stayed quiet for a minute, face pressed into my shirt. I could feel him breathing fast. “But what if the serum made me… want you more than I should? What if none of this was my choice?”

The question stung. I hated that Draven could put that doubt in his head. I rubbed his back, slow and steady. “I don’t care how it started. You’re here now. Carrying my kid. Marked by me. And you bit me back, remember? That part wasn’t any serum. That was you.”

He let out a shaky breath. His fingers grabbed my shirt tighter. “I’m scared. For the baby. For us. Draven sounds like he’s been watching me for years.”

“I know.” I held him a little harder. “But he’s not getting you. Not the pup. Not anything. I’ve fought worse than him. We’ll fight him together.”

I walked him back to my wing, keeping one arm around him the whole way. The nest he made earlier was still there on the bed. He climbed in without me saying anything, curling up small. I took off my boots and got in beside him, pulling him close again.

The bond felt raw. I could sense his worry mixing with mine. This pregnancy was supposed to fix things for the pack. Now it was bringing more danger. But looking at Elias, tired and scared but still here, something in me shifted. I didn’t just want the heir anymore. I wanted him safe. I wanted him to stay because he wanted to.

“You should sleep,” I said quietly. “The doctor said rest is important now.”

He nodded but didn’t close his eyes right away. “You’ll stay?”

“Yeah. I’m not going anywhere.”

He finally relaxed against me. His breathing got slower. I stayed awake, staring at the ceiling, one hand resting on his stomach. The pup was in there. My child. Draven thought he could claim it? Over my dead body.

Morning came too fast. A knock on the door woke me. Seraphina’s voice came through. “Kael. We have a problem at the east border. More of Draven’s people. They’re not scouts this time. Looks like a bigger group.”

I cursed under my breath and carefully got up without waking Elias. He stirred anyway, eyes opening. “What’s happening?”

“Border trouble. Stay here. Eat something. I’ll be back soon.”

I kissed his forehead quickly, then headed out. Seraphina was waiting in the hall, arms crossed. “This is getting serious fast. Draven’s pushing because of the pregnancy news.”

“I know,” I said. “We hit back hard. Send a message he won’t forget.”

We headed out to deal with it. The fight at the border was messy but short. My men knew what they were doing. We pushed Draven’s group back, but one of them shouted something before running off.

“Draven says the Omega’s first heat was just the beginning. The real game starts now.”

The words stuck with me the whole ride back. When I got to the wing, Elias was up and pacing in the nest area. He looked anxious.

“Kael,” he said as soon as I walked in. “I felt the fighting through the bond again. Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” I pulled him into a hug. But my mind wouldn’t settle. Draven was playing a long game, and now my mate and child were right in the middle of it.

Elias pulled back a little and looked up at me. “I want to help. I don’t want to just hide here.”

His words surprised me. But before I could answer, Riven came rushing in again, out of breath.

“Boss. We just got another message. This one’s from inside the pack. Someone leaked the pregnancy details to Draven’s people. We have a traitor.”

The room went dead quiet. Elias’s hand tightened on my arm. I felt his fear spike through the bond.

A traitor. In my own house.

Someone close had sold us out

Elias's POVKael’s weight settled beside me in the nest. The bed dipped under him as he pulled me close, one strong arm wrapping around my waist. His body heat cut through the lingering chill from the medical wing. I stayed still for a moment, breathing in his pine and smoke scent that now mixed with mine. The bond hummed warmly between us, carrying his leftover anger from whatever message had made him crush his phone.“You’re tense,” I whispered. My hand rested on top of his where it covered my stomach. “What did the message say?”He didn’t answer right away. His fingers spread wider, protective over the small bump that wasn’t even visible yet. “Draven. He’s getting bolder. Said the child will be his too.”A cold shiver ran down my spine. I turned in his arms so I could see his face. His silver-gray eyes were dark, jaw set hard. The fresh bite mark I’d left on his neck stood out under the low lights. Mine. The thought still felt strange.“He’s not getting anywhere near us,” I said, t

Kael's POV…I crushed Draven’s letter in my fist, the paper tearing under my fingers. The cold, metallic scent on it turned my stomach. That bastard had the nerve to send congratulations like we were old friends, then openly threaten to take what was mine. My mate and my unborn child.Elias stood beside me, his hand still gripping my arm. I could feel his fear through the bond, sharp and real. It only made my anger burn hotter.“He’s bold,” I said, voice low and hard. “Sending this straight to my wing. He wants us rattled.”Elias swallowed. “What does he mean by ‘collect what’s his’? The genetic samples?”“More than that now.” I pulled him closer, one arm around his waist. “He knows you’re pregnant. Word travels fast when it involves something this valuable. The pup carries both our lines plus whatever rare shit your family sold him. He sees it as his property.”I turned to the messenger who had delivered the letter. “Burn every trace of this. Double the guards on the borders. Tell Se

Elias's POV…The door closed behind Kael, leaving the medical room feeling too quiet and too bright under the sterile lights. My hand stayed on my stomach even after he left. Pregnant. The word kept repeating in my head like it didn’t belong there. I was carrying Kael Voss’s heir. Our child. The ultrasound image of that tiny heartbeat was still burned into my mind.I sat on the exam table, legs dangling, trying to breathe through the mix of emotions crashing over me. Fear. Shock. And something softer that scared me even more — a tiny spark of hope. The bond hummed steadily between us. I could feel Kael moving through the estate, his anger sharp and focused as he headed toward the border. He was already thinking about Draven. About protecting us.A soft knock sounded. Seraphina walked in without waiting for an answer. Kael’s sister. Tall, athletic, with the same silver-gray eyes but sharper edges. She looked at me like I was a problem that needed solving.“So it’s true,” she said, cros

Kael Voss PovI stormed out of Elias’s suite with my blood still boiling. The new bond thrummed in my chest like a live wire, feeding me pieces of his guilt and fear. I wanted to punch something. Draven already had his claws on my mate before I even met him. Genetic material. A claim. The thought made my fists clench so hard my knuckles cracked.Riven caught up to me in the hallway. “Boss, you look like you’re about to kill someone. What happened?”“Draven,” I growled. “He has Elias’s genetic samples from the Vale family. That bastard thinks he owns a piece of my mate.”Riven’s smirk faded fast. “Shit. That changes things.”“It changes nothing,” I said, voice hard. “Elias is mine. Bonded. Marked. We’re running tests today. I want confirmation on the pregnancy and every detail on his condition.”I headed straight for the underground medical wing. The sterile lights and chemical smell always grounded me. This was my territory. My rules. Two hours later Elias was brought in by guards. H

Elias Vale PovI woke up slowly, my body heavy and sore all over. Especially low in my stomach and between my legs. The room was quiet except for steady breathing that wasn’t mine. Kael’s arm was wrapped around me, his chest pressed to my back. For a second it felt almost safe. Then everything came rushing back — the heat, the way I begged him, the biting, the bond locking into place.I tried to shift a little. That’s when I felt it stronger. The new connection in my head, like an open door between us. I could sense Kael’s emotions even without him speaking. Right now they were dark and sharp, like barely controlled anger boiling underneath.Kael moved behind me. His voice came out low and rough. “You’re awake.”I turned my head to look at him. His face was hard, jaw tight, eyes narrowed. He looked furious. The kind of mad that made people stay quiet and careful. I swallowed hard. “Yeah. What… what happened? I remember the heat getting really bad, and you stayed. But after that it’s
