Chapter 6

Author: TS
Talia POV

One afternoon, I was reading a parenting book when a sharp pain suddenly spread throughout my body.

I gasped for air, tightly gripping the thin fabric of my jumpsuit. This wasn’t the usual discomfort —

I instinctively knew. It was time.

"Guard!" I shouted.

The metal door opened, and a guard rushed in, clumsily fumbling with the intercom.

"We need medical assistance — now!"

Another guard brought over a wheelchair, and they helped me sit in it. My body was squirming every few seconds with stronger and more frequent contractions.

I was quickly rushed to the hospital, where the doctor did various checks and decided to perform a C-section.

It was the best option to deliver a triplet that too of a half werewolf.

Sweat covered my face, and I felt like I was going to die. I never imagined childbirth could be so painful.

I was wheeled into the operating room and lay on the delivery table.

"Doctor, you must save my child." I said, extremely worried.

"Don’t worry. Your condition is stable now. You and the baby will be fine."

"My condition is stable?" I paused in confusion.

Why is this doctor saying something different from the one who had examined me earlier? Which one is right?

"Yes, it’s stable. You can relax." The doctor assured me.

I let out a long sigh of relief when an anesthesiologist entered the room. I looked up to find none but Abby.

"Abby, what are you doing here?

Did Damon send you? Does he know the child I’m carrying is his?"

Abby smirked. "You’re still delusional? How amusing! You sold yourself at an auction. Do you really think Damon will acknowledge your child?"

Her cruel words made my heart sink. I thought the guards were treating me with special care, possibly because Damon was helping arrange things. But now, I wasn’t so sure.

A more terrifying thought suddenly crossed my mind:

"Was he just waiting for this moment, letting me believe I could have the child, and only when I’m about to give birth, he can kill me and my babies?”

I clutched my belly, enduring the pain.

"Just give birth to your child,” Abby said, giving me a smug smile. ," She then turned to the doctor. "Start the procedure, local anesthesia."

"Local anesthesia? Why local anesthesia? Isn’t a C-section done with general anesthesia?" I asked.

Before anyone could respond, Abby’s phone ring diverted the topic.

"Alpha Damon." She respectfully answered the call with a smile, her voice honeyed. I had to admit, her smile was beautiful.

Afraid I might overhear them, she turned and walked out of the operating room.

Not long after, Abby returned to the operating table. The anesthesiologist had already administered the anesthesia. Since it was local anesthesia, my brain was still awake.

I glanced over Abby’s shoulder. Damon’s wasn’t there.

I knew he didn’t care about my life, yet for some reason, I felt a sense of loss. From the moment my children were born, they would never see their father.

A sharp pain struck my chest, and I felt the babies inside me thrashing violently.

Abby ignored me and turned to the lead surgeon instead. "Don’t worry about the depth of the incision, cut open immediately, and get the babies out within ten minutes." She said, her voice firm and clear.

"Understood." The doctor obliged.

I felt the scalpel scratching really down. My face went pale, and my heart sank.

"What… what are you planning to do with me? "

Local anesthesia, direct incision, and extracting the babies within ten minutes — Abby wanted me to die.

And what she said the next panicked me completely.

"Damon wants the babies, and he wants the healthiest ones. As for you, you don’t need to leave this operating table." She said sternly, and I tried to squirm, trying to stop them, but my numbed body didn’t support my will.

Why? Why Damon wants the babies?

Why does he still want them if he doesn’t acknowledge them as his children? Is it because of the promise he made to me?

My head was ringing. I wanted to say something, but the words didn’t roll out. I could only sense my babies being taken out one by one and then something rapidly leaving my body.

"Not good, not good! The patient is hemorrhaging!" The doctor cried in panic.

The lead surgeon had cut a major blood vessel.

Damon POVThe evening gala of the Bonding Mate Festival returned to normal, but the incident had become a hot topic of conversation.I ignored the chatter and kept my promise, driving Talia to see Noahva and Elias. Carson insisted on coming along, too. Although I didn’t initially want him in the car, Talia seemed to rely on him deeply and insisted that Carson accompany her. Their trust and intimacy made me uncomfortable.“Talia, I truly didn’t know Abby had done so much to hurt you. Don’t worry—I’ll make sure you get justice!” I assured her while driving.“Hmph!” Carson sneered. “No matter what you do now, it won’t erase the pain and suffering Talia has endured.”“I know. I’m sorry, Talia…” For the first time, I felt that Carson’s scolding was justified. I couldn’t refute it, and I even wished Talia would berate me, too, but she remained silent.“Talia, who is Ava’s father?” I couldn’t help but wonder if it was Carson.“This has nothing to do with you!” Talia seemed unwilling to say.A

Damon POVCarson arrived just as I was at a loss for getting these werewolf guards to submit.Wait—why is he holding a little girl in his arms?“Ava! Carson!” Upon seeing him, Talia immediately rushed over and hugged the little girl.“Mommy!” The girl wrapped her arms around Talia’s neck. She called Talia “Mommy”? Is this Talia’s daughter? Can she be Carson and Talia’s child? Are they really together now?A flood of questions overwhelmed my mind, but Carson and Abby’s argument dragged me back to reality before I could make sense of it all.“Well, Talia, you even brought reinforcements! You’re really something—able to enchant all these men into willingly helping you!” Abby sneered.“Of course, we all like a kind and beautiful woman like Talia. Unlike you—no matter how hard you throw yourself at men, no one would ever want you!” Carson retorted with biting sarcasm.“You—” Abby was so furious she couldn’t speak while some guests laughed mockingly.“You wanted evidence? Here it is!” Carson

Damon POVI stared at Abby, feeling as if I was looking at a stranger. The Abby I once knew was honest, brave, and loyal—never someone who would resort to such despicable methods to harm others.I locked my eyes with her, and in them, I saw panic. That trace of panic confirmed what I had suspected: she had used my phone to send messages to Talia. And if what Talia said was true, she even dared to…Oh, god, no! I mind-linked my wolf. "Did I really get drunk last night and do those things with Abby? I don’t remember anything.""After we came back from the Bonding Mate Festival, I passed out completely. I don’t know anything either," my wolf replied."That’s impossible. Werewolf wolves can’t get drunk. How could you have passed out?"There was only one explanation—Abby had poisoned me with wolfsbane!I stepped forward, grabbing Abby by the throat.“How dare you deceive me! You even poisoned me with wolfsbane! Why did you do it?” I roared.“Alpha Damon, I didn’t! Don’t believe Talia! Have

Talia POVThe man hurriedly dressed and left the room.I didn’t care what had happened between Damon and Abby, nor was I interested. What truly worried me was this: if Abby hated me so much, did she hate Noah and Elias, too?If she and Damon were to marry in the future, would she treat my children well?A thought quietly sprouted in my mind—perhaps I should take them away.I silently picked up the broken robot from the floor, which Damon noticed, and walked over to me. “Did you buy this for Noah and Elias?” he asked.I nodded.“Noah loves wolves, but Elias seems to like Godzilla more. He always says Godzilla is the strongest, much stronger than werewolves,” Damon said with a slight smile.“Really?” Hearing Damon talk about Noah and Elias lightened my heavy mood a little.“Yes. Let me take you to get new gifts for them.” Damon helped me up.But when his hand brushed against my waist, I recoiled as if I’d been shocked. On the way to the toy store, Carson’s video call came in.“Talia, ar

Talia POVThe next day, I went to a shopping mall early to buy toys for Noah and Elias. However, I realized I didn’t know what they liked. Then, it struck me that I could never compensate for the lost time and missed moments. Following the salesperson’s recommendation, I bought two transforming werewolf robots. I didn’t know if they’d like them. I’m not even sure if they would shift when they came of age. They were half-human. Worries and guilt consumed me to the point that I even questioned whether meeting them was a good idea. I had been absent from their lives since the beginning—what right did I have to expect them to call me "Mom"?Anxiously, I waited in my hotel room until the afternoon, then took a taxi to the hotel Damon texted. My heart pounded in my chest as I stood outside Room 302. After years of yearning and wishing for the chance to hold them, I was finally going to see them again. Unable to contain my excitement, I pushed open the slightly ajar door—only to find the
