Morgan's POV

There was nothing left of my dignity in this pack. I had lost it all from the moment I was born fat and ugly.

I felt the urge to die, to climb up the tallest mountain and jump down into certain death but I did not trust myself enough to do it. So I went with the more embarrassing option, begging Brian.

He was seated very closely to Alpha Caspian when I walked in, his eyes lighting up with mischief as he stared at me.

Alpha Caspian and I stared at each other for a brief second before he looked away, as though embarrassed to let people see that brief exchange.

" Oh here she is....finally! I was beginning to think you would never come!" Amara yelled from her spot in alpha caspian's arms, cuddled up so close to him like he was the only life line she had.

In opposite seats sat my parents, their own eyes scrutinizing me too with irritation.

My hands quivered and I prayed for the ground to open and swallow me.

This was a humiliation ritual, the kind that could soothe the growing ego of Brian.

" She sure took her precious time. If I decide to get up and leave now...." Brian was saying but my mum quickly cut him off.

" Alpha Brian please don't. We are so sorry about her tardiness..you know how sluggish she can be. You are her mate and husband, even though she does not deserve you, please don't look at her faults"

I felt the last shred of my dignity drain alongside those words.

Mortification slipped through me in waves, the burning stares of everyone including Alpha Caspian leaving me near distraught.

He must think of me as a weakling now, a mere pushover. He must hate the fact that he even allowed someone as lowly as me to kiss his lips.

The more I thought about it, the more I felt my confidence dissipate.

" What are you just standing there for?! Will you go on your knees and beg your husband you unruly child!" My father yelled.

That snapped me out of my reverie and reminded me of the wolf's den that I now found myself in.

I stared at a grinning Brian, my knees refusing to kneel to that pompous face as I swallowed the last shred of my dignity.

And I knelt down.

Almost immediately, I felt that Victorious air engulf him. He sighed, leaning in carefully, just enough so I could be the only one that could hear him.

" I told you I will make you beg did I not?" He muttered.

I clenched my fists.

What were the odds that I could punch him and run away before I got caught? How fast did I need to move for that to become a reality?

" Is she dumb? Won't you beg him?" Amara asked from her perched spot.

Tears stung my eyes.

Beg him for what? I'm sorry that I caught him cheating on me? I'm sorry for picking myself first for the first time in my life?

" I'm sorry for leaving your house alpha Brian" I said instead, my voice coming out as merely a whisper.

He scoffed.

" I would need more than that. You can't just mutter a few words and think that the embarrassment you put me through would be erased." He said.

My balled fists grew tighter.

He wanted more? I would give him more.

" I'm sorry that you cheated on me. I'm sorry you beat me at the slightest whim"

Everyone froze. That was not what they were expecting right? But oh I was just getting started.

My words grew clearer with each sentence, that shiver in my voice that has come when I said the first apology now non existent.

" I'm sorry that your entire pack treats me like a maid, I'm sorry that I have never experienced love with you. So yes, I am sorry that you are just a big fat liar of an alpha! You are an abusive piece of shit and I'm sorry that the moon goddess was so blind that she gave me to someone like you!"

The minute the last word left my mouth, I felt his hand knock out the rest of my thoughts..hard, and unyielding.

When I raised my head back up in defiance, he brought down his hand again, getting up now as he hissed.

" You insolent gurl! How can you say things like that about your mate in public?! Is this what alpha Brian has had to deal with all this time?" My mum said.

I scoffed internally, a humorless laughter leaving my lips.

There was no reprimanding him for hitting their daughter, there was no anger about how he clearly treated me or all the words I said. All that did not concern them of course.

" Do you see what I'm saying ma? This is what I put up with! I put up with this bitch attitude every day! She is never grateful that someone like me picked someone like her, all she does is run her mouth and criticize me!"

Each word felt like a dagger, accompanied by a slap, and a shove.

My head hit the center table, the metallic taste of blood hitting my lips as I turned to look at my parents for help.

My dad looked away, my mum turned to look at Amara like she was the one in pain.

These people, all of them. They sat and watched this man continue his assault on my body.

Brian pulled out his belt, made from leather skin and jaggered edges of tree barks.

Then he brought it down heavily on my chest.

I suck in a scream but it was too late.

He smirked. I closed my eyes, preparing for the next attack.

I expected the belt to come down again, just like it always did at his place but it didn't. Instead, I opened my eyes to meet a looking figure standing in his way, hand on the belt.

" That is enough" caspian said, his voice threatening, aura feeling like death.
