Lucas’s POV

I sank into the leather chair in my inner chamber, the furniture creaking under my weight.

My boots had pounded the stone corridor minutes ago when I ran back to save Mia from those men. My head throbbed, the mockery echo of my steps still ringing in my ears.

Something had snapped inside me, a pull I couldn’t name, a hook in my chest dragging me back to that pink-walled room where I’d left Mia with those two Alphas.

They weren’t my friends, just power-hungry wolves who wanted to be close to me. When I mentioned the Rogue Queen I’d captured, they offered to pay for a night with her. I agreed without hesitation, thinking it would break her, punish her for the poison she’d forced into me with that cursed kiss.

But her piercing cry had cut through the walls, sharp and desperate, and my heart raced tugging with a pain deeper than the toxin she’d used against me.

I had left her there, drugged and vulnerable to them as a punishment for her betrayal, for nearly killing me.

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate    Chapter 14

I stayed on the couch, trying to forget about everything, especially the rogue girl who had the moon goddess had given me but as I closed my eyes, sleep felt like a stranger. It had actually been months or even years since rest came without a chemical escort. The pills were my company, the thin line between the Alpha they feared and the man who could still fall apart on a kitchen floor.By day I was a machine: decisions, punishments, the slow grind of ruling. By night the gears rusted and the demons remembered how to speak my name. No children. No mate. No woman whose laugh could undo whatever the day had done to me. Respect and fear was all I had from everyone around me. Their every act is dutiful and hollow without love. It kept the pack in line and left my chest empty.I exhaled and fished a packet from my jacket but my hand paused at my mouth when I realized I hadn’t eaten since morning—taking the pills on an empty stomach tore at me. Better to eat anything from the kitchen than

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate    Chapter 12

“What do you want to do?” I asked with a gasp, narrowing my eyes at him as my arms around my body as if to protect myself from him. “You don’t ask questions before obeying orders! Do as I say!” He seethed, stepping closer and I could see his muscle tug and gleam under the lights.“I woke up without pain, all my wounds treated, food ready for me and I’m in a room that looks like paradise.” I paused and heaved a deep sigh. “The Lucas I know, the one that beat me up just a few hours ago, would never suddenly treat me right without a trick.”He ran his fingers through his messy black hair, eyes bored. “Don’t make me repeat myself,” he said, voice low, cold as the polished wood floor beneath the bed. “Learn to be obedient or you won’t last three days here.” His arms folded across his scarred chest, muscles taut and for a few seconds I was lost staring at those scars, some hidden with tattoos but others were glistening, deep cuts and gash that made me wonder if he had been fighting war al

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate    Chapter 11

Mia’s POVMy eyes fluttered open, vision blurry as my head pounded like a blacksmith’s hammer on an anvil. My shoulder burned, the bandage wrapped tight, its rough edges digging into my skin as if whoever bound it did so with spite. Each breath I took felt like a blade, slicing deep into my bones, the pain a searing fire that refused to fade. I clenched my teeth, tears slipping down my cheeks, my body trembling on the bed’s smooth silk sheets. I tried to shift position, to ease the ache, but it got worse, forcing a scream from me, my throat catching as if it might choke me. I was in a hospital but the pain all seemed unattended to. “Help,” I whispered, my voice a broken sob, barely audible, my body too scared to move because of the pain that felt like a beast pinning me to the mattress and eating my internal organs. What had happened? My mind clawed through the fog, piecing together fragments. Then I remembered….Lucas. I had poisoned him, my lips forcing the toxin into his mout

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate    Chapter 10

Lucas’s POVI could not believe the wreck in my chest, a kind of ache that had nothing to do with the poison and everything to do with her. The moment I saw her fall to the ground after the gunshot, my wolf tore itself free from whatever numbness the toxin had wrapped around us. I did not think. I ran forward.Darius was a fool. Who thought it wise to shoot her in the head? Who gave him that order? Her name ripped out of my mouth, raw with an emotion I had long killed. I rushed to her as she hit the floor, limp and still, and for a second I thought I had lost her. When I hunched over her and lifted her into my arms, relief hit like a physical thing. The bullet had gone through her left arm, not her skull, and she was breathing. I felt stupid for how much that relief calmed me.I should not be feeling this way.She was a rogue and had kissed me with poison on her tongue, causing me intense pain.“Alpha…” Darius called, but I turned on him with a glare that said enough.“Call the doctor

  • The Alpha's Rogue Mate    Chapter 9

I stared at Lucas, terror and disbelief churning in my gut like the poisoned wine burning through me. His smirk was a knife, twisting as he dipped his hands into his pockets, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes. The room spun, the bare stone floor cold under my knees as I tasted the metallic tang of my blood formed in my mouth. My wolf howled in my head, feeling the same pain too.“Please,” I gasped, lurching to my feet, my legs heavy, ankles buckling like wet rope. “The antidote. Please give it to me.” I stumbled forward, aiming for his pocket where the pill bottle hid, my fingers clawing the air as he moved back. The poison hit hard, a gnawing fire in my stomach spreading like wildfire through my veins forming me to crash to the floor, the thud jarring my bones. My breath was rough and shallow. “Help,” I choked out, crawling, teeth clenched, my hand pressing my abdomen as if I could claw the pain out.It wasn’t just ache, it was like a beast, twisting my insides, every fiber screami
