Chapter 3

It was already eight o’clock in the morning when Nexus woke up because of the repeated and non-stop ringing of his alarm clock. From lying down, he sat in the middle of his bed and turned off the alarm clock that just kept on ringing. Then he grabbed his phone from the bedside table, put it in his pant’s pocket, then stood up and left his bed.

He went straight to the bathroom to wash his face. After washing, he then wiped his entire face with a towel.

He winced when he heard the growling in his stomach. He forgot he had eaten nothing last night. So he went straight to the kitchen, opened his fridge and took two pieces of egg, and cooked it. He also prepared two pairs of bread and brewed coffee.

His phone rang while he was eating.

When he saw who the caller was, he immediately answered the call. It’s Michael, the owner of the club where he works as a male omega prostitute.

“What do you need?” He asked after he answered its call.

“Is that how you should answer your boss?” Michael said from the other line.

He doesn’t even see Michael, and he already knows what he looks like. He’s sure that Michael is raising an eyebrow as he spoke at him.

Michael Esguerra is not just his boss. He is also a close friend. And unlike him, who is an omega, Michael is a beta.

“Just tell me what you need. You’re a nuisance to me.” He answered coldly.

He heard Michael sigh on the other line. “Since you didn’t call me last night, I just want to know how you’re doing. Did that young alpha treat you well?”

He grinned at his friend’s question.

“What? You’re worried about me?” He asked back while grinning.

“Why? Is it bad to worry for a friend?” Michael asked back in irritation.

Still grinning, Nexus shook his head. “Don’t worry about me. That boy treated me well. And you know me. You know I won’t let anyone hurt me, especially if it’s an Alpha. So stop worrying. I’m fine.“ With conviction, he said.

Nexus knew Michael. He knew he wouldn’t keep quiet until he made sure he was well and safe.

Michael has always been a worrywart. Ever since he met him, a few months after he left their home and moved away, Michael gets worried easily about him and to everyone he cares about. And he’s the same. Though he doesn't show it, Michael is important to him and he treasures him a lot.

Michael was the one who took care of him and helped him to start anew, and he will be forever thankful to him for that.

Michael is not just a boss and a friend. Michael is his savior as well.

“It’s fine if you won’t go to work for now. Just take some rest.” Said, Michael.

He frowned upon hearing what Michael said. “Why? I told you I’m fine. I’ll come.”

“But---“

“I’m going.” He quickly cut off what Michael had to say. “I’ll be there at five. I’ll help clean the bar. All right, see you later. Bye.” He said and quickly cut off the call without even waiting for Michael to answer.

He placed his phone beside his plate and took a very deep breath.

He knew where their conversation is heading. So before their conversation got there, he already turned off the call.

“Having a friend as a boss can be annoying sometimes.” He said to himself as he shook his head.

It was exactly five o’clock in the afternoon when Nexus arrived at Michael’s Club.

“Hey, Nexus! Looks like you got lucky last night!” Roniel said one of his colleagues at the club.

Like him, Roniel is also an omega and a prostitute.

He sat down on a couch that was there. Roniel sat next to him, obviously waiting for his answer.

“That kid was a virgin.” He said.

“I thought so!” Roniel exclaimed. “Haven’t you lost your patience with teaching him?” Roniel’s question made him grin.

“He’s quick to learn. At first, he was a little nervous but after a while, he was already like a mad dog that I couldn’t stop.” He answered it while shaking his head.

Roniel’s grin widened.

“Well, it’s good to see that you can still walk.” Said Roniel with a malicious tone in his voice.

He laughed at what Roniel said.

“I almost didn’t.” He said that made both of them laugh.

“Did he gave you a bonus? How much? I heard from Michael that that kid is hella rich.”

He shrugged. “Well, I can say that it’s enough for my one-week expenses.” He replied then grinned.

“Good for you. As for me, it seems like I was really out of luck last night. Aside from he’s already old and that he’s not even that good in bed, he even pays very little! I can’t believe I even grind on top of that old man!”

Roniel’s complaint made him laugh out loud while Roniel was pouting and telling him to stop laughing. But he only stopped when he noticed Michael standing in front of them and looking at them while there was a small smile on his lips.

“Looks like you two are having fun.” Said, Michael.

“Michael!” Roniel happily exclaimed.

The gleam in Roniel’s eyes was so obvious as he stared at Michael.

Roniel may not say it but he knew that he is in love with Michael. There’s just something with the way Roniel looks at Michael.

“How long have you been there?” Nexus asked Michael.

Michael sat on the other side of the couch, right next to him, ignoring Roniel who now, has a disappointed look on his face.

He can’t help but pity Roniel. Roniel should know that omega and a beta will never work.

“I just arrived,” Michael replied and leaned its head on his shoulder while its hands were wrapped around his arm.

He looked at Roniel and he caught him staring at Michael’s hands on his arm.

Roniel seemed to notice that he was looking at him, for him to take his eyes off of Michael’s hands

Suddenly, Roniel stood up that surprised him and Michael. A fake smile was posted on Roniel’s lips. “I’ll just go to Cyrus.” He said then hurried away.

He’s still staring at Roniel, who is now talking to Cyrus when Michael removed his hands from his arm, moved a few inches away from him then sat up straight.

He raised his brow. “You are fully aware of his feelings yet you’re not saying nor doing anything.” He said while looking at Michael.

Michael sighed. “Do you think he would listen if I tell him to forget whatever his feelings for me? No, Nexus. He’ll just keep on doing whatever he wants and he’ll just keep on insisting that whatever his feeling for me is right.” Michael answered seriously.

“So making him jealous is your way of telling him to get over you? Do you think that will work? Moreover, why are you using me in this nonsense plan of yours?” He asked then shook his head. “This won’t solve anything, Michael. Why don’t you try to talk to him and put some sense into his head.”

“I am telling you, that won’t work,” Michael said then sighed. “I don’t even know why he likes me! I did nothing good to him, except to let him in, here in the club which is not a big deal. Also, I am not an alpha. Omega is only for an alpha. And beta is just for a beta. That’s how our society works and he knew that. “ He can feel the frustration in Michael’s voice.

“But how about you? How do you feel about all of this? What are your true feelings for Roniel?” He suddenly asked.

Michael looked at him. Its forehead furrowed. “My true feelings?” Michael sounded so surprised by his sudden question.

He nodded then met Michael’s gaze. “You love him, don’t you?” He asked directly that struck Michael. “No matter how much you try to deny it, I know and I can see it, Michael. You love him.” He said as he snatched a cigarette case from his pants pocket. He opened the box and grabbed a piece of a cigarette and lit it. “I know you better than anybody else, Michael. The way you look at Roniel, the way you care for him, I know you don’t consider him as just a simple worker or a friend.”

“W-what are you saying?” Michael stammered as he avoided looking at him.

“Do you think I wouldn’t know how you tried to keep Roniel away from the customers that might hurt him or push him to his limit? If he was just a mere employee to you, you wouldn’t bother that much about him.”

“Isn’t that what I do to you as well? I just wanted to take care of you and Roniel.”

Nexus let out cigarette smoke and then smiled and spoke. “Come on, Michael. We’ve known each other for a long time. You can no longer use that reason for me. Yes, you take care of me but you don’t look at me, the way you look at Roniel.” Michael goes silent. “If I were you, you’d better talk to him and make it clear to him. You already said it. Omega is for an alpha and a beta is for a beta. That is if you want him to get over you.”

That was all he said before he left Michael who was stunned by what he said.

Nexus was already fixing himself when Michael entered the room that is exclusive to him. It has a large bed, two couches, and a small table. Every sex worker who works in the club has an exclusive room where they can entertain their customers. But the customers are also given a chance to take them outside, with their consent, of course, just like what happened to him and that kid last night.

“You already have a customer,” Michael informs.

“That fast? We just opened.” He said, his forehead furrowed.

“You were already booked by that customer’s manager yesterday,” Michael said then shrugged.

“Manager?”

Michael nodded as an answer.

He must be a celebrity. Nexus thought.

That’s not new to him anymore. He’s had a couple of celebrity customers before and most of them are those what they call A-lister celebrities.

“A regular or a new one?”

“A new one.”

“Does he look rich?” He asked again while still fixing his clothes.

“That seems to be the case. I mean, the manager paid a lot of money just for a night with you.”

“Alpha or Beta?” He asked again.

“Alpha.”

Nexus sat down on the sofa. “Alpha again.” He complained.

Well, he likes seeing Alphas going crazy and getting helpless over him but sometimes he also wants to take a break from the Alphas. Alphas are like wild beasts when it comes to sex. They don’t seem tired, just like that young Alpha that he had last night.

Michael laughed at what he said. “Come on! Stop complaining. He looked like a decent person. And as what I’ve said, he’s loaded. Just satisfy him and I am pretty sure you will be able to pay your rent for at least, two months with just a tip from him.” Michael said while still grinning.

He grinned back at his friend. “You know me. I haven’t had a customer who came home with a dissatisfied look on their faces.”

Michael laughed and tapped him on the shoulder. “Gotta go. Be prepared. The moment I went out of this room, then your customer will come in.”

He just nodded in response.

When Michael finally went out of the room, he stared at himself again in the mirror, making sure that he looked good enough. Then he sat on the far side of the bed while holding a cigarette stick that he had lit. He was patiently sitting on the edge of the bed when the door of the room suddenly opened. He was ready to give his customer a seductive smile when he saw who his customer will be.

He gasped and his cigarette fell. He felt like his breathing stopped for a moment as he stares at the face of his new customer. He couldn’t believe it.

He just saw him on the television last night but now, he is right in front of him.

He did not expect their paths to cross again.

So with his eyes wide open and with his heart beating so loud, he uttered the name of the Alpha whom he never wanted to be associated with and the Alpha who has known the darkest part of his life.

“Maximino…”
