Hayley POV
As I place my hand in Blake’s, I know that this is probably a terrible idea. Cooper is already on the verge of losing it if the maelstrom of emotions swirling through the bond is anything to go by. Will the sight of me dancing with another Alpha push him over the edge? I’m about to pull my hand away and turn back when Blakes’s grip tightens on my hand.
"Trust me, Hayley," He speaks so quietly into my ear that I’m certain nobody else around us can hear.
"I just... this is a bad idea," I blurt out, feeling genuinely afraid that Cooper will see this as a rejection, and I know from seeing Rex how much that will hurt him.

Hayley POV The loud squeal of tires skidding across asphalt disrupts the peaceful morning air and I whip around to see where the noise is coming from. Then I see him. A young boy in a bright blue coat, standing in the road, his little face frozen in shock, staring wide-eyed, as a dark grey van hurtles towards him.
