LOGINLeo’s pov: “Where is the hostess?” One of the Alphas present asked, and I would have cursed Aurora for her tardiness, if the circumstances had been any different. As it was, I could only offer him a frigid, “She’s on her way.” Aurora was indeed taking her sweet time, while I had to mingle with the guests, alone. I wondered what she was up to. Hadn’t she told me she was on her way via mindlink a few minutes ago? The woman was sometimes more self-absorbed than she needed to be, and I truly didn’t know what to do with her. Was she truly a good fit for me? Was she really born to lead? There were times when I had my doubts… But now wasn’t the time for conflict. Heavens, even the elders liked her, and those old geezers were hard to satisfy… and I kept telling myself that that was enough. Having lost my parents some years ago, the elders had helped me rule the pack since, and made me into the Alpha I was today. I cared for them as much as I despised their meddlesome ways. Just as I
Yuri’s pov: Naturally, I couldn’t perpetually avoid Aurora. Seeing as she was going to become the Luna, and this party was organized for her engagement party with Alpha Leo, crossing paths with her almost seemed like fate. “Oh, Yuri, you came,” her eyes gleamed with something I wasn’t quite comfortable with, even as a small smile graced her lips. She donned a lilac haute couture gown which must cost a fortune, hugged her curves beautifully, showed just enough cleavage to entice, and basically ticked all the boxes for a woman to feel pretty on her special day. Some people were born with luck. I didn’t have much of that in my previous life, but I had every intention of rewriting history. So far, I wasn’t doing too poorly, I’d dare say. “I was invited, wasn’t I?” I retorted simply, not quite in the mood to humor her, ready to sidestep her… only she blocked my hasty retreat. “Let’s be the sisters we were always meant to be,” she offered me a big smile, teary eyes, and all, and I fel
Yuri’s pov:“You have to attend, Yuri,” mom kept saying over and over again, making me beyond fed up with this phone call. “It’s Aurora’s and Alpha Leo’s engagement party. Many people will be in attendance…” “Why would I even care about the she-devil getting engaged?” I retorted, face-palming, and wondering what mom was even thinking. “Don’t do this to me!” She went on in a wobbly voice, “Regardless of your sister’s ways…” I didn’t let her finish, and cut in at once, “She’s just my stepsister, mom. And not a very good one at that.” I heard her deep inhale and soon she conceded, “Fine, she’s not the best, but you cannot allow this chance to slip through your fingers. You might meet some handsome young man who’d be worthy of you.” “That’s all you think about, huh?” I sighed, unable to hide the disappointment from my voice. “I am a mother first and foremost,” she all but growled at me. “I wouldn’t want you to end up like an old cat lady.” “I am only 20, mom,” I shook my head even
Leo’s pov: The car was gliding across the road, making its way into the city, when the sight of the woman who had me obsessed caught my eye. “Park right here,” I instructed the driver. The man didn’t hesitate to do so, no questions asked. That was exactly what he was paid to do – drive without asking questions. Thankfully, the car’s windows were tinted, so the chances of me being found out, of her getting upset at me were slim… Hell, I didn’t even know why I cared what Yuri freaking Jones had to say about my stalkerish tendencies, but the issue was that I did care. I watched with a faint smile I didn’t even put on my face consciously, as she ate, a smile on her face, a healthy blush or glow or whatever it was called making her magnificent. I saw one of her colleagues put some food on her plate, and she accepted it willingly with a nod, and a smile… and that was when I saw red! “Drive!” I all but growled. The car all but shot into the road again. What was I even expecting
Yuri’s pov: I was deep in the zone, focusing on the design in front of me, trying to find fault with it, as per the intructions I was given, when someone came to pat me on the shoulder. “5 more minutes please,” I let out softly, without even looking at who it could be. “I believe the boss gave you till the end of the day,” Timothy’s voice was smooth and mellow. “I just feel like I might figure it out soon,” I told him sheepishly, refusing to admit that I was almost desperate to understand what was wrong with the design. “We can understand that,” Kevin drawled, agreeing with me readily, “But we don’t run on empty stomachs.” I had looked at the design, from every angle, for a little over 2 hours, and I still couldn’t figure it out. Kevin might be onto something. Maybe I really did need to have lunch with the team and reset.“You know what? You’re right,” I nodded at him, a small smile stretching my lips. “Maybe food is exactly what I need.” “I know I am right,” Kevin’s earnest ex
Yuri’s pov: Today was the day. Today was the day I’d meet a legend – David Stone. I still couldn’t believe I had become an intern at the very firm where he worked. I was nervous when giving my name to the receptionist. I then felt self-conscious when she gave me a once-over, before a small mocking smile made it to her face… Oh heavens, I knew that whatever she was about to say would be like venom. And lo and behold, she didn’t disappoint, “ You won’t last a day.” “That’s for me to decide,” I responded briskly, a fake smile plastered on my face. “3rd floor, on the right. You can't miss it,” she shrugged, rolling her eyes and shaking her head at the same time. If anything, I was more intrigued. I made it to the third floor, with 3 minutes to spare. I gave myself a pep talk right at the door, “You can do this, Yuri. Remember that you need this. Don’t be a klutz, and don’t mess up.” “And for the love of God, move if you’re not going in.” I startled around so fast, I feared I
