I was still glaring at Leo when some white-coat made his way into the room after a curt nod.

Looking up, I wasn’t too surprised to see Dr David. He was loyal to a fault to Leo. It had always been so.

Almost despite myself, I couldn’t help but recall everything that had happened over the course of my previous life. It all started with the check-ups when I was pregnant with Violet. The distaste the doctor had for someone like me – some scheming social-climber – had been obvious, and I had often shrinked in on myself when he examined me.

Then, I remembered my tragic wedding day. Aurora had attempted suicide, but we all knew it was more of a desperate call for attention than a need for help. Nevertheless, Leo had rushed to her side, leaving me alone, as to be expected of a blindly devoted man.
