Layla's POV

As we both stood there looking at the Alpha who was to decide my fate, I kept on blinking without knowing the words to say to defend myself right now.

“How could you bring her here when you know everything that is going on?”

“Dad, I had no choice. I could not just leave her.”

“How could you make that decision without asking me first?”

“How could I ask you first?”

“Young lady, there is a thing called a phone!”

“I’m sorry, Dad. She just needs a place to hide till she figures out what is going on.”

“You realize I have to lie to Nate about all of this.”

“I know.”

“I need an explanation.”

“You will get one, dad.”

“Now!”

“All of this is my fault.” I immediately butted in. I did not want her bearing the brunt of all of this.

“I found out Nate did not care about me and it seemed like I was being a burden all along so I thought I’d just give him a little space till I figure out what is going on.”

“Tell me, child, is it just a little time you need or you are planning to run away?”
