Valeria's POV

Ares's mouth descended on my neck, latching onto my skin as he moved, rubbing his bulge directly onto my covered heat. "Shit," I swore when the contact sent sparks flying all over my body, lighting me up until it felt like I was burning up.

"Ares," I panted, my fingers digging blindly into the silk sheets as the contact threatened to scatter whatever was left of my sanity.

"Shut up, Valeria," he growled against my skin, his voice rough and completely feral. His hands gripped my hips with bruising force, lifting me slightly to adjust our angles so that I felt his covered bulge pressing harder.

"If you don't want this, tell me to stop right now," he rasped. "Because the second I touch you without these clothes between us," he paused, lifting his head to hold my gaze. "I am not letting you go." The words, accompanied by his searing gaze, had liquid pooling between my thighs, warm.

"I want it," I gasped, the words tearing from my throat yet again before I could think to filter them.

A dark, possessive sound vibrated from his chest, and in a frantic haze, he tore away my nightdress. The cool air that hit me contrasted with the burning body. His eyes roamed over my body as he discarded his clothes hastily. I barely had time to admire his sculpted body before he positioned himself between my legs, making my breath hitch. It was the second time I was catching a glance at his manhood, and all I could think of at that moment was whether he was going to tear me with the size of it.

"I don't make love," he warned, the head of his cock right on my entrance, teasing me. "I fuck," he hissed, before driving into me with such force that a broken sob escaped my throat. An agonizing burning pain spread from my core, down my legs and up my stomach, leaving me gasping for breath as a lone tear escaped.

"Fuck!" He stilled for a moment. "You are a virgin," he stated as a matter of fact, his voice strained, a vein popping on the side of his forehead as if holding back was painful. I could see it, the control slipping, and when it did, he pulled out and pushed all the way in, stretching me in an impossible manner.

"St-op," I cried out, trying to push him away and pull away at the same time. Instead, he grabbed my hands and pinned them on either side of my head.

"I gave you a chance," he grunted, pumping himself inside of me. "You didn't take it...so no," he pulled out, the pain beginning to subside. "I won't stop, Valeria," he groaned. "Not when I feel how wet you are, you want me too."

The more he stroked my insides, the more the burning pain ebbed, transitioning into a feeling I couldn't explain. Every single time he pumped, something stirred in my lower pelvis, something that made me shiver. My eyes fluttered shut, allowing myself to bask in the floating feeling. I felt the whole of him, the length, every part of his member as he filled me. Ares moved with a ruthless rhythm that made me call his name, over and over again.

He claimed me hard, driving us both higher until the room spun. The sound of skin slapping skin filled the air when he hooked one arm under my thigh, angling his thrusts differently. Then he hit a spot I didn't even know I had, making me throw my head back, my walls clenching instantly.

"Goddess, Ares, please... don't stop," I cried, lifting my hips to meet him halfway as he pummeled into me.

"Shut up and enjoy," he grunted, my lower pelvis beginning to tighten. I could feel it, the fire in my core intensifying, my toes beginning to curl and my walls squeezing him harder than before. I writhed beneath him, trying to pull my wrists free, trying to grab onto something, anything.

The moment he leaned over, latched his mouth again onto my neck, while hitting the same spot repeatedly, a blinding explosion wrecked through me. My back arched off the bed, my whole body shaking as I fell over the edge, screaming his bloody name. Yes, I had orgasmed before, by my hand, rubbing myself, but this was different. It was heavy, tearing through me until I couldn't breathe, until white light danced behind my closed eyelids.

"Fuck." He increased the speed, his thrusts becoming sloppy. "You're squeezing me," he spoke with his teeth clenched, pumping even faster. I opened my eyes, and the look on his face prolonged my orgasm. His mouth was open, his eyes hazy, looking at me, a thin layer of sweat on his forehead as he grunted. Then his jaw locked tight and he stilled before twitching and shooting his essence into me. Just like that, we had crossed the line, and I didn't think things were going to be the same again.

*******

The first thing I became aware of when I woke up the next day was the profound soreness I had ever felt in my life. My muscles ached, as if I had been out running for hours. For a fraction of a second, the humming warmth in my chest made me feel a sense of absolute peace. I rolled over, expecting to feel his heat beside me, but when I felt none and opened my eyes, the bed was empty.

"Ares," I groggily whispered, blinking rapidly as my eyes adjusted to the dawn light in Ares's room. He was standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows, completely dressed. His hair was brushed back into its usual perfection, his back visibly tense.

"Dress yourself," he said, without even turning to look at me. His voice was flat, making my heart plummet straight into my stomach. I pulled the sheet around my chest and sat up, moaning in pain as my core burned.

"Are—" I called again, pulling my brows together.

"Last night was a mistake," he cut me off, his tone entirely unbothered. I felt like he had kicked me on my chest, like air had been sucked out, all of it. "It was simply a severe lapse in judgement; it will never happen again."

"A mistake?" I choked on the words, the inside of my eyes stinging. I scrambled up and stepped off the bed, keeping the sheet wrapped around me, ignoring the discomfort that came with friction from the movement. "You said you spent years ignoring me to keep me alive! You admitted looking at me was consuming you!"

"I said things I shouldn't have to justify a mere impulse," he responded, finally turning to face me. I didn't know what I was expecting, certainly not the flawless mask of indifference of his expression. "We are step-siblings, and like I said, you are human."

"So you didn't know that when you were deep inside me hours ago?" I yelled, something hot and not sexually hot bubbling inside of me.

"There is no future between us, no meaning to what happened in this room." I blinked, my jaw dropping. "We both satisfied an urge, and nothing more."

I swallowed, a lump forming in my throat as he walked over to his heavy oak desk, picked up a fountain pen, and quickly scribbled something down on a checkbook. I watched as he tore the slip off and walked over to me.

"This should get you anything you want," Ares said, his eyes meeting my wet ones with a chilling, detached emptiness. "Consider it compensation for whatever happened."

I shook my head, letting out a dry chuckle. "Are you kidding me right now?" The question came out weaker than I had intended.

"Don't tell me a few minutes of sex had you believing we will have a happily ever after," he mocked. "Pack your things by noon; this check should be able to cover your living expenses." He looked at the paper before lifting his empty eyes back to me. "It's better if we do not live under the same roof from now on." His words sliced deep, somewhere across my heart, until my chest tightened.

I couldn't believe he was buying my silence, that he was treating the most important night of my life as a transactional inconvenience. Ares was cutting me out of his existence with a piece of paper, and he didn't give a damn about it. He knew he was my first, and yet, without another word or hesitation, he walked past me, towards the exit door. I didn't turn to look at him, but when the sound of the door closing filled my ears, a lone tear escaped, just as the slip of paper slid down and hit the rug on the floor.

"Oh, how wrong I had been," I whispered to myself. Things were not the same, but they definitely were not what I was expecting after such a night.

I blinked once, twice, hoping for them to disappear, but they didn't. My fingers tightened around the edge of the sink, my heart forgetting how to beat for a few seconds."No..." The words barely made it past my lips. With my fingers trembling, I picked up the test and turned it over, as though the answer might somehow change on the other side, but it didn't; it was still a cruel positive."No, no, no..." I quavered again, my own voice barely unrecognisable to my ringing ears. Slowly, I lowered myself onto the closed toilet seat before my jelly knees could give out. "Pregnant," I muttered to the empty room, the word settling inside my mind with a terrifying weight. "I can't be..." My hand drifted to my stomach, flat, as if there wasn't a life inside me. A life created that night, with Ares, my own stepbrother.I squeezed my eyes shut, a

I asked, taking in a deep breath when he placed his hands on either side of my head, trapping me. The heat radiating off him was suffocating, and for seconds he held my gaze, making my pulse go frantic and wild. I watched as his eyes dropped to my lips and lingered for a moment with a heavy hunger that made my knees weak. Instinctively, I leaned in, expecting and wanting contact. But then, his jaw flexed hard as he looked away and took a sharp step back."Get out," he said in a flat voice, drained off the warmth from seconds ago.My brows shot up. With one last look at him, I turned and walked out, but

Valeria's POV"Shit." My step-brother's voice drifted through the quiet hallway, stopping me in my tracks. "Fuck!" he added. It was the kind of swearing someone muttered after smashing their little toe against the edge of a table. But then, another curse followed, louder, strained, almost pained. My feet moved before my mind could tell them not to, walking towards his study. Living under the same roof as Ares Kingswood for seven years had taught me one simple rule: Avoid him at all costs. He was impeccably well put together, a cold-blooded heir to our family's werewolf lineage. He was the man everyone in the kingdom admired, respected, and even feared, the man who never lost control, and the man who treated me like I was invisible. Ares never initiated conversation with me, never even called me by my name; at some point I thought he didn't even know it. He barely glanced my way, and whenever we found ourselves alone in the same room, the man would walk out, keeping off me as if I w
