“Earth to Sutton. Hello,” Tarrah waved a hand in front of my face.

“Huh… oh, sorry. What were we talking about?” I said, shaking myself out of my thoughts.

“Girl, that’s, like, the third time you’ve zoned out on us today,” Sera said as she held out a glass of champaign for me.

I winced. Realizing I was being rude. They had been such a big help with planning this ceremony that they deserved my full attention.

“I’m sorry,” I said, taking the glass. “I’m a bit distracted. A lot going on, you know. But I’m all yours now.”

“That seems like more than just a distraction,” Sera speculated. “Is everything okay?”

I chewed my lip, not sure I wanted to get into it all with everyone. Tarrah and the others had tried on their dresses first. They all had looked beautiful and I could see why they were so excited for the ceremony. I was trying to figure out how to change the subject when Simone came out of the back room with a broad smile and a dress draped over her arms. Lenesha, the designer, right b

Sutton had taken the news as well as I had hoped, despite her reluctance to put our desires on hold. But we were both too close to keep from knotting her and that was not the time to lose control. We would be there soon enough and until then, I needed to be the voice of reason.I did provide Sutton with a perfume that would help disguise the change in her scent. She was closer to her heat than she had gotten before and others would start to notice if we didn’t take precautions. It wouldn’t do anything to affect her shift in hormones, but it would keep others from noticing. Everyone except for me, of course. That particular form of sweet torture was something I’d have to endure for a few more days.I sent Sutton off to our apartment to shower and clean up. I had a phone call to make.“Alpha Lucas,” King Osric answered. “I was expecting your call.”“Your majesty,” I replied. “The fact that you were expecting my call makes me wonder why I was so blindsided by our early arrival.”“Yes, I

We got Princess Nomi settled in her suite as quickly, yet politely, as we could. Once she was preoccupied and Jaden was left to deal with her guards, Soloman followed Lucas and me to his office. The moment the door was shut, Lucas turned on Soloman.“What the hell is she doing here?” he demanded. “You didn’t think to warn us that she was even considering showing up early?”‘I can assure you, Alpha, that I am just as surprised as you are,” Soloman insisted. “I can’t imagine what she could be up to or what would have prompted this… intrusion. I think we can all agree this has nothing to do with the Luna ceremony.”Lucas scoffed. “She’s here to spy but on what?” he speculated. “And why send her?”“Why not send her?” I commented. “We’re obligated to cater to her. She can follow me around wherever she wants. She can demand access to any location from anyone. And she can be here without raising suspicion. In fact, her showing support is beneficial to the pack. To snub her claims would be d

We were less than three days away from the ceremony and every minute felt rushed. I had been all over the packhouse, finalizing arrangements and reviewing organization. Luckily, Elise had everything more than under control, giving me space to spend my time in the gardens. Not that my presence was required there either, but in a good way. Regardless, I was enjoying seeing the progress of my project. The gardens were almost complete. We were down to a final section of wall designated for restoration. Yet, the rest of the space was filled with personnel bringing in supplies for the ceremony. They were the only ones allowed on the premises besides Tanji’s crew. We had decided to block off the gardens and have the grand reveal be the Luna ceremony. Tanji thought it would be fitting seeing as it was my vision that brought the place back to life. It would make a perfect gift to the pack as their new Luna.I was helping Tanji place a trellis when I noticed Soloman coming towards us over her s

I chewed my lip as I set the table for dinner the next day. After speaking to Soloman, I was able to make a decision last night. Still, I wanted to take some time to make sure it would stick. So, I spent the day working through any doubts I may have had with my choice. Nova speaking supportive affirmations the whole time.Dad and Helene would be joining us so I could get it all over with at once. I think what was going to be the hardest part was knowing that someone was going to be upset. I couldn’t make everyone happy and I would learn to live with that. I’d have to get used to it as Luna. That was one of the first things Lucas taught me when he started to prepare me for my new role. The oven beeped in the kitchen as I finished nervously straightening the silverware for the fourth time. Just as I pulled the main course out, the elevator doors opened. Lucas came in, pulling at his tie already. My heart sank. It must have been a long day for him. I wasn’t sure the coming interaction wo

I couldn’t answer that question. I reached out to Nova but her indecision on the matter was as strong as mine. After a tense silence, I let out an exacerbated grunt and threw my face in my hands.“I don’t know,” I groaned. “Honestly… my first instinct is no, I don’t want her there. I feel like it would be foolish to so easily give Hannah the opportunity to ruin such an important event. And after… after everything she’s done it would be foolish not to expect that she would try. The easiest way would be to bring Alpha Anders. And let’s face it — it wouldn’t really be her bringing him, would it? It would be Anders flaunting her in my face, because that’s the only way she would be able to show up.”“Then it’s settled,” Tarrah said. “She’s not getting an invite.”My stomach fell into my gut and my shoulders drooped. She should have been right. We should have been done with the conversation. So why did I feel so… defeated about it?“Sutton…” Sera pressed.I let out a long slow breath. “On t
