“Is everyone in agreement?” I yelled over the crowd.There was a quiet pause before a sporadic acknowledgement. I told everyone to disperse and leave the area. I had to admit the find was pretty exciting. I definitely wanted to do whatever we could to restore the piece and bring it back to its full glory. My days were slowly starting to find some routine. When Lucas had encouraged me to dive into this garden project, he really meant it. He helped me when he could, including with interviews and making final decisions on a contractor and suppliers. Our lunch went longer than expected. When I finally made it back home, Lucas was out with Jack. Aunt Lara would be here in a couple of days but Lucas wanted to get Jack set up in some summer programs before she arrived. I still wasn’t sure how I felt about the situation. I didn’t want to force the kid to be around me if he didn’t want to, but it also didn’t sit right with me to keep him occupied he could feel I was purposely avoiding him.But we had some time to work all that out. I called Aunt Lara first thing the next morning. She was surprised to know that Daisy and Jack had come to the city at all but she happily agreed to come and spend a few weeks getting Jack situated. The only concern was when she could make it out. She would need to work things out with Uncle Rodney and even then, it may be a week before she could manage it. We hung up with the promise of her getting back to me by the evening.It was the first days of the summer break, so Jack was still asleep.
