Catherine’s POV

My heart skipped a thousand beats as I moved away from him. "I... I'm sorry"

"Oh spare me the pretense! You must have thought to yourself that just because I have poor eyesight, I must be stupid as well". He took menacing steps toward me.

I moved back until the bedpost stopped me from behind. "I never knew you had poor eyesight, I swear-"

"Silence! You thought you used me and deceived me, but the truth is I used you to get what I wanted, you were nothing but a pawn in my game." He gripped my chin firmly and threw me on the bed.

"I never intended to use you, I promise...I, I... Please, have mercy-". My cries fell on deaf ears and my plea was cut short when his fangs grew out from his upper gum.

He pressed his lips against mine, but instead of a kiss, he bit my lips with his fangs until they started to bleed. I could not cry out, nor could I push him away. He was too strong compared to my weak self. I could taste the metallic tang of blood on my tongue as he continued his torture. His body was pressed firmly against mine and it was getting harder to breathe. My head was in a haze. Maybe my mother was right, I AM unlucky.

The man in front of me was unrecognizable. He was a beast! A monster! Alpha Philip turned out to be far worse than my sister described.

When he finally freed me from his kiss of death, I tried to run away but that proved to be the worst mistake ever. He threw me against the bed and got on top of me. He gripped both my arms and held them over my head. I had no words to describe such a feeling... helplessness, hopelessness. He tore off my clothes and conquered my body without a care in the world. I belong to him now and there was nothing that could change that. This was his revenge against me for deceiving him. I had nothing left inside of me except for the breath of life which he was gradually sucking out of me. If death ever meant business, this would be the best time for it to appear at my doorstep.

When he was done with me, he dragged me out of his room. Everyone stopped to watch me being ridiculed. He dragged me by hand down the hallway until we reached a darker part of the castle. I noticed the metal doors and chains attached to the wall, this must be the dungeon. Without sparing a second, he threw me inside a dark cell.

"You will rot in here for as long as I see fit!" He spat and shut the door, abandoning me here.

I bent my head and burst into tears. Never in my life have I cried and bled so much. Up until now, I used to feel sorry for Sarah because she was doomed to marry a man she did not love. But today, there is no one here to feel sorry for me. My olfaction adjusted to the terrible stench that lingered in the air, a stench of death, blood, tears, and human waste. The cell reeked of everyone who has ever been inside.

Like a lamb waiting to be shuttered, I waited for hours for a miracle, maybe he will change his mind. But as the hours grew by, my hope grew thin, and my body grew tired. Before I knew it, I had fallen into a deep slumber.

PHILIP'S POV

Soon after the death of my father, all eyes were on me to become the next Alpha. I had all it took to become a powerful leader, all except a Luna.

When I was a child, a chemical fell into my eyes and ever since then, my eyesight has been bad. But this never stopped me from fulfilling my duties. I have brought down powerful packs and strong alphas. My reputation precedes me all over the world. But these dumb councilmen only had one criterion that could disqualify me, and that was my inability to find a mate. They decided on choosing one of their daughters as my bride but I knew what the outcome would be, and I was not going to let that happen. I knew they wanted control over my throne but I will make sure they do not have that.

So, I made a pact with a struggling pack called the Crystal-Cloud pack. They were to offer me their most worthy female werewolf as my chosen bride And in return, I would provide them with all they needed which is protection from rogues, and enough resources to build their economy.

More than anything, I hate being lied to. My parents did it to me my entire life, and so have my friends in the past, and now, this girl dared to do the same. Never! I only agreed to take her with me because of the meeting with the council, they had given me plenty of chances to bring them my bride and today was my last chance. She came at the perfect time, but she wasn't the perfect one.

I despise her for what she did but I cannot deny the fact that I felt a connection with her. Why is there a tingling feeling I get when I touch her? I was told by their parents that Catherine would not be suitable to be my Luna because she is wolf-less and weak, but the way she handled Councilman Thomas made me doubt that she is weak. I think she is more powerful than she knows, but she lied to me, and I will never forgive that.

I am not proud of my action but it was the beast in me coming to the surface. And no matter how much I hate Catherine Bernard, I will never let her go... she is MINE!

CATHERINE'S POV As I entered the community meeting area, where pack members gathered for talks and declarations, I could feel a sense of anxiety in the air. As soon as I walked in, whispers and whispered talks stopped, and interested eyes looked at me. Skepticism and uncertainty weighed heavily on the air, like an unsaid query demanding a response.I felt the wave of unease that went through the group, a sign of their misgivings about my abrupt promotion to a leadership role. Many were confused by the swift change from a Luna behind confinement to a leader guiding the pack's future, and the doubt that pervaded the atmosphere was reflected in their gazes. The scrutiny became more intense as I got closer to the temporary platform where pack leaders normally addressed the members. The looks on the sea on faces ranged from mistrust to flat-out incredulity. As we sat opposite from one another, the weight of duty falling on our heads like a thick blanket, the environment crackled with a feeling of purpose."I had not signed in for this one," Lizzie said, her resolve and doubt visible in her eyes. I sympathized with her; the unanticipated course of events had thrown us into unanticipated roles."Not a single of us did," I said, looking her in the eye. However, we have been given the responsibility of keeping this pack together. We must figure out how to make it function."The stone walls of the study, covered in the understand

What had previously felt like a golden prison had become a painful expanse of loneliness over two weeks. Furnished with opulent furniture, the room had turned into a haven and a jail. With Ana, my darling little daughter curled up in my arms, there was only one thing to feel better in this stuffy environment.
