The weight of the pregnancy was settling in, and I wasn't sure I was ready.

My back ached, my ankles were swollen, and the morning sickness was a constant companion.

I'd catch myself clutching the armrest of the chair, trying to ride out the waves of nausea.

Preya would bring me something the pack healer had recommended and I’ll take but I wasn't so sure that it was working or maybe it was taking its time.

The pack was a mixed bag of emotions. Some of the members were kind, bringing me tea and offering to help with chores.

Others whispered behind my back, their voices hushed as I passed by. I tried to ignore them, but it was hard not to let their words sting.

Julie was the worst, her mind games a constant drip, drip of poison.

She'd make snarky comments about my appearance, or accidentally bump into me in the hallways.

Alpha Luciano seemed oblivious to it all, his cold mask firmly in place.
