PENIEL

Preya led me down a quiet hallway I hadn’t walked through before. The walls were cleaner here, the air smelled faintly of lavender. I didn’t say anything, just followed her until she stopped in front of a tall wooden door with gold handles.

She opened it slowly, and I stepped inside.

I blinked, surprised.

The room was nothing like the one I’d been staying in. It was bigger, cleaner, and far more elegant. The bed was wide with clean white sheets and soft pillows stacked neatly. There was a small fireplace in the corner, already lit, casting a warm glow across the room. And a tray of fruits and wine sat on a table near the window.

I turned to Preya, confused. “Are you sure this is my room?”

She nodded without hesitation. “Alpha Luciano told me to bring you here. This is your new room.”

I scoffed, more irritated than impressed. “Of course he did,” I muttered, walking further into the room. I didn’t care for his gestures. They always came with strings attached, and I wondered what

  • The Alpha’s Treaty, Now His Luna   Heart pounding

PENIELI didn’t get much sleep. Not that I'd expected to anyway. That's what you get when you love someone.I lay on the guest bed, staring at the ceiling long after midnight, when everyone except the warriors on nightshift had gone to bed. Every time I closed my eyes, Luciano’s face appeared, tight with restraint, closed off in a way that made my chest ache.‘Silas would have helped.’The words replayed again and again.I turned onto my side, dragging the pillow closer and pressing it to my chest. It smelled faintly of him, which only made everything worse.Anger simmered just beneath my skin.I didn't want Silas’s help. I wanted his! Was that too much too ask? I just wanted him to talk to me. To let me in the way I let him in. But instead, he’d decided to shut me out. Even after all we've been through. When I went back to the room the next morning, he was already gone. The rumpled sheets and the faint scent of cedar, the only sign he spent in here. I stared at the bed, my heart slo

  • The Alpha’s Treaty, Now His Luna   Silas is my mate

PENIELI'm sitting in the dark, in our bedroom when the door swings open and Luciano steps in.He pauses at the doorway, tilting his head to the side. He heaves a defeated sigh, hunching his shoulders, “Why aren't you asleep yet?”“You really expect to me to be sleep peacefully, while you're still out there? Doing God knows what.” I ask.“Peniel,” he sighs my name tiredly.“No, don't do that. I thought we were past…” I wave my hands around, “All this. This game of us pretending we don't care about each other.”He keeps quiet for a few moments, his head hung, before turning to me, “Can you at least switch on the lights?”I click on the switch, light immediately flooding the room. From my position beside the door, I take a good look at him.His face looks ragged, like he's been put through the ringer. His jeans are scuffed with dirt marks and aren't even zipped up all the way. His shirt is gone and his chest is decorated with little scratches. His hair is messed up and when I look clo

PENIEL“Okay, I think it's time you to go play with pups your own age. Don't you think?” I squat, dropping the cute little girl on the ground.“No! I don't wanna.” She pouts, big fat watery tears already filling her eyes. I can't lie, the sight of those sad big blue eyes is enough for anyone to give into her demands. But I remember that she also needs to learn to be confident.Grabbing her gently by the shoulders, I pull her until she's almost in my arms. I stroke her hair and tilt her chin up so she sees my sincerity. “I promise you, that doing something new only seems scary if you never try.”“But…”“I'm not done.” I give her a pointed look, and she mimes dragging a zipper over her lips, dragging a chuckle out of me. “I promise by the time you go over there…” I nod to the group of pups in a corner, “And show everyone how amazing you are by just being yourself, you won't even remember ever being scared.”“Promise?”“I promise.” I reply. “I'll even pinky swear.” I lock fingers with

LUCIANO“Where is she?”“Where’s who?”I side-eyed my Beta, a low snarl already forming in my chest, until I caught the glint of amusement in his eyes. I sighed, exasperated. Pinching the bridge of my nose, I managed to grind out, “Don't play games, Silas. Just tell me where she is.”He clasped a hand on my shoulder, grinning. “Don't get mad. You know as well as I do that you have to give her space to grow. And hovering isn’t going to do her any good.”I opened my mouth to defend myself, but he cut in immediately. “The pack needs to see that she’s capable.”I exhaled heavily, running a hand through my hair. I was already tired of hearing that phrase repeated over and over, like some damned mantra. Casting him a tired glance, I muttered, “You think I’m not aware of that? I promise I’m not going to hover or try to butt in. She’s not even going to know I’m there.”He still seemed unconvinced, so I pressed on. “Why do you think I haven’t mind-linked her yet? It would be so easy to find

  • The Alpha’s Treaty, Now His Luna   A tutoring program

PENIEL“Really?” He asked, a bit of doubt still in his eyes. “You're sure you feel comfortable starting today?”I paused and he took that to mean no, because he steamrolled into panic mode, “Because if you don't, I can always postpone it to next week or you know… never.”I shot him an amused glance, “Luciano,” I said, exasperated, “You can't keep me hidden from the pack forever, you know.” He huffed, rolling his eyes. “I could try.”I laughed at him, “What would you say, when they ask for their Luna.”“They wouldn't ask, because their heads would've already been cut off!” He snarled.“Luciano!” I shrieked, hitting him in the shoulder, “You can't kill your pack members.” I laughed, turned on by his words, despite the fact I should have been terrified that he literally threatened to kill the people he was sworn to protect because of me.“No?” His nostrils flared and I could tell when he caught my scent in my air, running his tongue over one sharp canine, he eyed me, something dangerous

  • The Alpha’s Treaty, Now His Luna   I promise you

PENIELI groaned, turning away from the sunlight streaming in through the windows and into my eyes. We had forgotten to close the curtains last night. Let's just say, we had been more focused on… other things.Stretching slowly under the soft sheets, I sighed, my body aching in that pleasant, familiar way. I rolled onto my back, and stretched my hand to reach for presence that usually stayed behind me, only to come up empty. My eyes flew open.I sat up quickly, dragging the blankets over my chest. The space beside me was empty and judging by the cold sheets, Luciano must have been up for a while. Where could he have gone? I wondered.I didn't have to wonder long. Because as I made to get up, the bathroom door swung open and Luciano stepped out. Water dripped from his dark hair, trailing down his sculpted chest, before disappearing into the flimsy towel wrapped low around his waist, the only thing preserving his modesty from view.I could tell that it wasn’t doing a very good job.He
