Trixie POV
We followed Jerica down the block to the Great Wolf night club. All of us bouncing with excitement as to what we were going to get into tonight. We parked close enough I could of wore heels without a problem. I will keep that in mind for next time if we decide we like it here and want to come again. Laughing to myself I still cannot believe Jerica gave the parking garage guy her number! Her was hot! Muscular and tall. I can wait to see if he reaches out to her later! We finally made it to the club there were two lines. But no sign directing how you should go. One line was empty and the other had a long one going to the end of the club. “Don’t worry, we will not have to wait.” She threw a wink at us but without question we followed her in the empty row to the front and the bouncer much taller here and built looked at her and just shook his head, handing her back the fake ID she just used to get in and grunted out “Go on in ladies.” Not even bothering to look at the rest of our IDs. Jerica giggles but walked in like she owned the place. The other three of us following her right in not as confident. But the music was loud and a song that we liked. The whole club was more modern and up to date than the one we went to last night. It was dark with colored lights all around and tables along the walls and looks like a VIP section across the room. The bar more to across to our left and a huge dance floor only about halfway full right now considering that it was only 10 pm I thought that was a pretty good turnout. The later it gets the more crowded it is usually – or at least that’s what I had heard from Jerica’s cousins. We made our way to the bar where a slender but tone man probably about mid-30’s greeted us. “What are we drinking tonight ladies?” Looking mostly at Jerica not too happily I might add. Jerica just giggled and turned to us. Abby being the boldest of us “4 shots of tequila and 4 beers please” With a soft smile at him. He simply nodded and started pouring the shots and grabbing our beers. We paid and found a couple bar stools and sat down. “Cheers! To a night we will never forget!” I said and our shots went bottoms up! Then placed the shot glasses on the bar behind us for the bar tender to grab. Then took a sip of my beer. It wasn’t long before the placed started getting more and more crowded. We were on our third round of beers when we were feeling brave enough to make it to the dance floor to dance to one of the hip hop songs playing. We made a square all facing each other as we began to dance and shake our hips and put our arms above our heads and cutting up with each other. Abby seeing that we had caught some guys attention only made her shake her butt more and shimmy more and giggle to herself. The song changed and I wanted another beer. “Do you want another beer?” I mouthed to the girls as they continued to dance around me. They all nodded in agreement looking to each other than back to me. I cut my way through the crowd making my way back to the bar that we came from when I felt the strong urge to piss. I had to stop right there and turn around looking for a restroom sign, only not to see one. Being on the outside of the dance floor seeing a waitress walking by I tapped her on the shoulder, turning around she asked, “What can I get ya?” “I don’t see any restroom signs, where is it?” I managed to get out while slightly doing a I got to pee dance. She pointed to the furthest corner from where I was – Of course. I nodded to say thank you and immediately started walking in that direction but not too fast to draw attention. I could see the VIP booths from here. There were 4 men in the one I passed, All very built and tan and handsome. The one in the middle looked right at me. He had dark brown hair just a long enough to lay over and a sharp jaw line covered in some stubble; His lips were plump like they were looking for someone to kiss. When I met his green eyes, they were staring fiercely through me. He must have caught me checking him out. I quickly chuckled and looked straight to the restroom. The faster the better. I couldn’t embarrass myself more and I didn’t think I could make it much longer without my bladder bursting. Once I was done using the restroom, I felt much better. Exiting the bathroom, I made sure not to look over at the VIP booth where dark & handsome sat so I wouldn’t further embarrass myself. Making it to the bar in a hurry. I asked Skylar – the bartender – we had learned his name after our second round, for 4 more beers. Glancing at my phone I see its about midnight and Skylar came back with 4 beers in his hands for me and I paid and headed back to the floor to the girls. Handing everyone their own beer and chugging half mine down, I hear a newer pop song come on that I recently liked! It made me start dancing again and jumping up and down when the bass dropped, and we all sung the words at each other. About halfway through the song the lyrics talk about going in circles, which queued me to start spinning in a circle; hearing the laughter it caused my friends I decided to continue and throw my head into it so now my hair is also flying around me. Feeling like I was in a music video I keep sing and spin around again only to lose my balance and trip on my own sandal and I can feel myself falling to the floor. Muttering “oh shit “ Only to feel myself be grabbed from behind only inches from the floor a hand went under one arm and an arm wrap around my back, abruptly stopping my fall but also successfully sloshing my beer all over me and whoever was kind enough to catch me. That’s when Jerica stopped dance and immediately stood frozen looking afraid behind me. The other two girl, Abby and Janet, just giggle and keep dancing. I feel the hands behind me stand me up straight and I turn around only to be met by some furious green eyes looking down at me. Well wasn’t dark and handsome also about a foot taller than me as well. And now also covered in half my beer. “Look, I am so sorry I didn’t mean to spill my beer on you. Let me make it up to you and buy you a drink for saving me from busting my ass and spilling this one on you!” I rush out hoping that it will smooth it over as well as make him look something other than annoyed and pissed off. So then I do the biggest smile up and bat my eye lashes “Please” I state and I can visible see his eyes soften looking at me. Jerica now turning her neck to him. “She is so sorry. We can leave and head home.” she interjects. “No.” He states just barely making eye contact with her and looking back to me. “She needs another drink.” Looking directly into my soul it felt like. Jerica nods at him and turns to the other girls looking almost sober now. I shake my head looking back at her, knowing I just embarrassed her; I would make it up to her later. Turning back to Tall, dark and handsome, he held his hand out toward the bar for me to lead the way. I smiled and lead him to the bar. “Hey Skylar, Can I get 2 beers please?” He turned around to me only to look at the man beside me and also to bare his neck to him. “Anything else Alpha?” he stated. “No, that would be all skylar.” Alpha, what a weird name? “ Is that your name?” I ask him, my face clearly scrunched at the idea. He laughed and shook his head. “You may call me Trevor” He looked down at me with a million dollar smile and I swear my heart skipped a beat. I couldn’t help but smile back up at him. “In that case you can call me Trixie.” He place his hand on the small of my lower back and I felt tingles where his hand was when he leaned in close to my ear and said “It is my pleasure to finally meet you.” Grinning back down at me. Finally? That made no sense but maybe Jerica knew him? Maybe she had mentioned me before? Skylar then sat the two beers down in front of us causing me to jump a little. I reached down into my purse to pay when I heard Trevor speak up “ Put it on my tab Skylar” Skylar nodded and walked away. I looked back up at him “I was suppose to get that, ya know? To thank you from keeping me from falling and your now wet shirt.” Trevor nodded “I got it.” Taking a swig of his beer and I did mine. “What pack are you apart of?” his questioned confused me. “Pack? I mean I came with a couple of my girl friends, I don’t know if you would call us a pack? But Jerica, Abby and Janet are who I am here with.” I looked at him, his face turning into confusion. “What? Are you from the city?” he asked. “No, I am from the town over.” His line of questioning starting to make me nervous. He took a deep breath looking right at me. I swear I saw his eyes flash golden and then just like that back to green. “How old are you really?” He was looking right through me. I coughed caught off Gard by his questions when Jerica joined us. “Trixie, I think its time we head back, don’t you?” I nodded quickly. Not knowing what Trevor was going to do next – maybe get us kicked out because we are all 17 using fake IDs. Did he know? Janet and Abby right behind her, I turned to him and saw he is burning holes into the side of Jerica’s head. “We weren’t done talking.” Jerica flinches as his words. Noticing her strange behavior and him asserting himself like that made me uncomfortable. “Actually, she is right we should head back. We have a little bit of a drive to where we are going for the night. It was nice to met you and again thanks for earlier and the beer.” I walked off with Janet and Abby on our heels. Only to get to the door to notice that Jerica was still standing there talking to Trevor. What the hell?By the end of the week, the pack finally felt like it was breathing again. Jerica was released from the hospital Saturday morning, her color restored, her strength returning in small but steady waves. She was still walking with caution, her ribs not yet fully mended, but the doctors agreed she was strong enough to recover at home. Physical therapy would begin on Monday, and though she pretended to dread it, Jake swore he saw a spark of determination in her eyes when she signed her release papers.Trixie had been her shadow all week, never missing a night at the hospital. Between classes and assignments, she’d made a point to sit beside Jerica’s bed, reviewing her own homework while explaining lessons to her friend. Jerica had laughed at one point, saying it felt like she had her own personal tutor. “You just don’t want me falling behind you,” she teased. But Trixie knew the truth — it wasn’t about school. It was about making sure Jerica knew she wasn’t alone.By Tuesday, Joe delivered
The sterile hospital smell hit me the second I pushed through the swinging doors, but it didn’t matter — I hardly noticed. My heart pounded in my ears, my footsteps echoing down the hall as I practically sprinted past the nurses’ station. I must’ve looked frantic, because one of them glanced up from her clipboard with wide eyes, but I didn’t stop. All I could think about was Jerica. Room 214.I nearly skidded around the corner, my hair slipping from its tie and bouncing against my shoulders. When I reached the doorway, I didn’t bother knocking. I burst in. Everyone’s heads snapped toward me — Jake, perched carefully on the edge of Jerica’s bed with a steaming bowl in his hand; Eric, leaning casually against the window frame; Melissa sitting in the visitor’s chair. And Jerica — my best friend — awake, upright, her hair a little mussed, a sling supporting her arm. She looked pale but alive. They all stared at me like I had grown two heads. “Where’s the fire?” Jerica asked, her lips curv
Jake’s POVSunday night had fallen, the room bathed in soft golden light from the lamp in the corner. The hospital always smelled faintly of antiseptic and herbs, but tonight it was almost comforting. Jerica was still asleep, though they’d finally unhooked the herbal drip earlier in the evening. It was progress, the kind that made everyone breathe a little easier — but she still hadn’t opened her eyes.I sat beside her, her delicate hand resting in mine. My thumb traced slow circles across the back of it, the pattern familiar, soothing to both of us. I hummed the lullaby I always did when it was just us now, only this time Melissa was in the room too. She insisted on staying the night, and said she wanted to be here when her baby woke up. I didn’t mind. Jerica deserved all the love in the world, and if Melissa could give her another piece of it, all the better.Laying my head on the mattress, I turned to look at Jerica’s face. The worst of the bruises had faded now. The lighter ones w
Trixie’s POVWhen I woke up that morning, the first thing I noticed was the single rose lying delicately on the pillow beside me. A folded note rested underneath it, Trevor’s familiar, precise handwriting scrawled across the paper.Had to leave early. Meeting with Alpha Sam today. Thomas will be downstairs at 7 a.m. to take you to school. Love you. –TI smiled faintly, picking up the rose and bringing it to my nose. It smelled fresh, sweet — just like him. It was a thoughtful gesture, sure, but part of me couldn’t help the sigh that slipped out. A flower was nice… but a good morning kiss would’ve been better. Still, it was Trevor. His world was full of responsibilities, threats, and constant strategy. And even when he couldn’t be here, he still tried to leave me with a piece of himself. That thought softened the disappointment, at least a little.I slipped out of bed, went through my routine, and dressed for school. Jeans, a cozy sweater, hair pulled into a loose braid. Normal. I want
Trixie’s POVThe soft hum of the truck’s engine filled the space around us as Trevor drove us down the winding road toward my parents’ house. The sky outside was streaked with shades of lavender and gold, the last light of the evening sun giving way to the approaching night. I sat with my elbow propped against the window, absently tracing the fog of my breath on the glass, while the radio played a sad, soulful song I couldn’t resist singing along to.Trevor’s hand rested casually on the steering wheel, his other hand relaxed against his thigh. To anyone else, he probably looked calm and collected, but I knew him better than that. His jaw was set, his eyes focused straight ahead, and though he gave a little smile when I sang too loudly at the chorus, I could tell his thoughts were miles away. I softened my voice, watching him out of the corner of my eye. “You’re thinking too hard again,” I teased lightly. His gaze flicked to me for just a second before returning to the road. “Maybe,” h
Jake’s POVThe steady rhythm of the monitor was the only thing reminding me that Jerica was still here. Still breathing. Still fighting.I sat beside her hospital bed, my chair pulled as close as it could get without climbing in next to her. I hadn’t left her side since the moment we got her here. Not really. Even when Melissa and Eric forced me to step away for a shower or a meal, my mind stayed here. Always here. They’d been taking shifts — Melissa and Eric — so they didn’t burn out completely. They were better at reminding each other of that balance, better at stepping back for a few hours. But not me, my wolf scratched at me, restless, desperate to stay next to her. Leaving her felt wrong, like abandoning her when she needed me most. Laura had turned into a sweet, selfless Laura. She had been keeping us all afloat. She hated being left alone at the house, I could feel that even when she didn’t say it, but she was the kind of person who turned her worry into action. She cooked and
