Trixie POV
It was just another day of Summer break for me. I was serving today at the local diner, and it was slow for a Thursday afternoon. I was ready to go home, shower and go out with some of my friends. We had managed to get some fake IDs from one of the techy guys at our high school and we haven’t gotten to make use of them yet and our plans tonight were to try them on a local watering hole here before going to the city about 20 mins away and actually getting into some night clubs and bars. Lost in my thoughts about what tonight might hold and wiping down the tables in my section I felt a tap on my shoulder. Slightly startled I jump and look to see its just Sam. “Hey, you alright? I called your name a couple times.” She asked me. “Of course. Sorry, I was just hoping to get my section clean and side work done so I could get out of here kind of early tonight since it’s been so slow.”Sam is short for Samantha, She was just a bit older than me around 23 or so but she was already a server manager here, her family also owned it. She was sweet, like a big sister figure always watching and looking out for me over the last couple years since I started working here and giving sisterly advice. She was also very beautiful too. Tall for a woman about 5’9 with long wavy red hair and a pale completion and green eyes. She wouldn’t ever have trouble finding a date but preferred to remain single for some reason. “Okay, yeah I was just coming to tell you that I was cutting you for the night. Your section already looks great if you just want to roll about 25 silverware and load the dishwasher once for me; I’ll cover the rest of your side work so you can get out of here.” Sam just made my night. Smiling I run to the back and load the dish washer and get ready to roll those silverware and stop just a minute to send a text out in our group chat. Should be leaving the diner in 15 mins. Then head home to get ready for tonight. We still on?My group chat consists of just 4 of us all been friends since day 1 of freshman year: Jerica, Abby, Janet and myself. Its only 730pm so it was still early, and we had plenty of time still. Jumping in the shower now – JericaYou bet your sweet ass – Janet I’ll finish getting ready and come swoop everyone up - Abby Excitement filled me as I thought of all the fun we were going to have tonight! I finished rolling my silverware. Waved to Sam as she was refilling an older man’s coffee at the bar and took off out the side door. The diner was only a 10 min walk from my house, so I walked to and from work when scheduled and since I didn’t have my own car yet, it made the diner the easiest place to work even if it was only part time, I liked having my own bit of cash and not having to ask my parents for money to do everything all the time. I made it home about 8 pm and my parents were all cuddled up on the couch together under a blanket eating popcorn watching one of my mom’s favorite movies: Pride and Prejudice. Dad just peaked his head over the couch looking back. “where you off to in such a hurry?” raising just one eyebrow at me. “To shower dad; then Abby is going to come pick me up for a girl’s night out if that’s okay? We kind of had one planned for tonight and tomorrow?” I tell him looking down the stairs and giving him the best puppy dog eyes, I can manage. He pauses and looks at his phone for the time. My mom softly laughing knowing that I had my father wrapped around my finger and would get my way.“Tomorrow we all planned to sleep over at Abby’s house too!” I interjected so I would get a curfew for tomorrow night. If our IDs worked tonight, we had plan to go to a night club Jerica had found out about in the city and didn’t want to be worried about getting back here. My dad side eyed me and sighed. “Be home by midnight tonight. You can have your sleep over there but remember school is going to start back in about 3 weeks and you will need to work on getting on a school schedule at least a week ahead.” Smiling I yelled, “Thank you! Thank you!” I finish running upstairs to my bathroom and hop in and begin washing. My dad was right school would start in 3 weeks and I would go through my senior year with my 3 best friends and graduate and all that comes along with that. I’m not sure what comes after that but my dad was sure a planner and like his routine so I knew if I didn’t get myself on a schedule, he would put me on one in the coming weeks. I hoped out of the shower and scurried over to my room closing and locking the door to get ready. I throw my hair over towel drying my hair and looking in my closet to find a tight blue jean skirt that came about mid-thigh and a cute flowy blouse with spaghetti string straps with a strapless bra underneath. I figure brushed my hair and blew dried it some so my long blonde hair was wavy down to the middle of my back with my side part. I loved wearing my hair down and wavy; it made me feel like a mermaid or princess or something. I was doing some basic makeup and throwing on some lip gloss when I heard a small tap at my door. “Yes” I called. “Hey hun, mom fell asleep on me, so I just put her to bed and was going to lay down with her. I am not going to wait up tonight. I have work in the morning. I will be watching the doorbell in the morning, so you better be back on time. Good night I love you sweetie.” My dad whispered through the closed-door knowing mom was sleeping in the other room. “You knew she would do that.” I chuckle knowing my mom loved to watch movies but almost always fell asleep on dad watching them. “I will make sure I say I am home on the doorbell dad. Good night, love you.” I say softly back through the door. I heard him chuckle at my words and then his steps down the hall to their bedroom and the tv click on. Ding. My phone sounded off.In your driveway. All the lights are out so I didn’t want to honk. – AbbyI took one last look at myself in the full-length mirror in my room. The pink flowy blouse and the jean skirt hugged my curves in the right places and I knew I looked amazing with barely any make up and some wedges in my hands I went down stairs to met the girls in Abby’s car. I just knew this weekend was going to be great!Trixie’s POVThe thud of the punching bag echoed off the walls of the Blood Moon gym, followed by the rhythmic slap of gloves against pads. Sweat slicked Trixie’s forehead, stinging her eyes. Her arms felt like rubber, her legs heavy as stone. Trevor said nothing as he held the mitts steady, letting her pound out her exhaustion and rage in silence. They had been at it for hours now.Neither of them spoke. Words wouldn’t help.Trixie’s body gave out before her will did. She collapsed to her knees on the mat, panting hard, her knuckles aching. Trevor stayed still, watching, his chest rising and falling with the same fatigue she felt. Without a word, she got up and stumbled to the corner, grabbing a water bottle and chugging it down. She wandered toward the double doors of the gym, squinting into the hallway. Pale gold light spilled across the tiles.Sunrise.It was morning already. Her heart clenched painfully in her chest. Where are you, Jerica? And Janet? Trevor appeared beside her, s
Jerica’s POVMy head was pounding, and before I even opened my eyes, I knew my wrists were in cuffs. Cold metal bit into my skin with every twitch of my fingers. I kept my breathing steady, refusing to give whoever took me the satisfaction of panic. I focused on listening — was anyone in the room? Any movement? Breathing?I tried to reach my wolf, to sharpen my senses, but she was silent. I couldn’t even feel the distant hum of her presence. A cold realization settled over me. They’d injected me with wolfsbane. “Fucking great,” I muttered under my breath. The room was quiet. I didn’t think anyone was there, but I wasn’t letting my guard down. Slowly, I opened my eyes. It was dark, but not pitch black. There was a sliver of light cutting in through the top of the curtains, highlighting the dust in the air. Daylight. Morning, maybe? That meant I’d been out since at least 1:30 a.m.—and that was if it hadn’t been more than one night. I had no idea how long I’d been unconscious. No way to
Janet’s POVI pulled my go bag from under the seat and yanked out the makeup remover. The glitter from the fake lashes and shimmer eyeshadow smeared across my cheeks as I wiped my face clean. I reached up and tugged the ridiculous pigtails loose, silver tinsel falling like confetti to the floor of the car. "See if I ever volunteer for undercover again," I muttered, rolling my eyes.Every few minutes I turned in my seat to glance at Jerica’s unconscious form, still slumped awkwardly in the back seat. And of course he would be driving — Brad, Brody’s idiot younger brother, who was clearly one bad idea away from getting us all caught. He whistled tunelessly while tapping the steering wheel, like we weren’t hauling a kidnapped werewolf in a tutu and fishnets across state lines in the next couple of hours.Ten minutes later, we pulled into a long-abandoned warehouse lot. The building was unmarked and weather-beaten, but it had one key feature: a private garage with a hidden studio apartmen
Trixie’s heart pounded like a war drum as she stood in Trevor’s office. Her fingers trembled, clutching her phone even though she hadn’t received a single new message. Jerica wasn’t answering. Janet wasn’t answering. Her thoughts raced, dizzying and heavy with panic. “She wouldn’t just leave,” Trixie whispered, more to herself than to Trevor. “She would’ve told me. Told someone.”Trevor paced behind his desk, already issuing orders over the pack mind-link. The tone in his voice was deadly calm, but the tension in his jaw betrayed him. “Jake’s out tracking. Security is sweeping the club perimeter again. We’ve got people moving to the road checkpoints. A kitchen worker saw them leave through the kitchen.”Trixie pressed her palms to the cool wood of his desk and tried to steady her breathing. “We have to tell Eric and Melissa. Jerica’s parents need to know. What if it’s the hunters? What if they’re back?” Trevor nodded grimly. “It’s either them… or rogues. But this feels organized. Clea
The club was already pulsing with music and lights, the music was loud and bass heavy, and the dance floor was already packed. But Trevor waved over a bouncer, and they were escorted past the line and into the roped-off VIP section on the second level. From up there, they had a perfect view of the whole club dancers, costumes, lights spinning like a kaleidoscope. Moments later, a server approached dressed as a sexy nurse, complete with a short red-and-white dress, thigh-high stockings, and a clipboard for their orders. “Shots or cocktails to start?” she asked with a wink. The girls ordered fruity mixed drinks while the guys opted for bourbon or beer. As the server sauntered away, the group settled into plush lounge seating."Okay, everyone photos before we get sweaty!" Abby declared, already pulling out her phone. The girls grouped together with huge smiles, arms around each other. Jerica snagged Jake for a sweet couples shot, and then Abby handed the phone off to Joe to take one of
Alice ducked under a low-hanging branch, her boots crunching over fallen leaves as she led the group deeper into the forest. The dense woods were quiet aside from the sounds of nature: birds chirping in the trees, the occasional scurrying of small animals through the underbrush, and the steady rhythm of their footsteps. Tyler’s family followed closely behind, backpacks snug, eyes sharp."Where exactly are we going again?" Tyler asked, readjusting his pack. Alice glanced back at him. “We’re tracking a healer I once knew. Her name’s Malina. She was a little older than me when we met, but if she’s still alive, she might be living in a safe zone a few miles from here.” “Why do they live this way?” he asked, brushing a spiderweb from his sleeve. “Out here? Hiding?”Alice sighed, stepping over a fallen log. “Because they were hunted, Tyler. For decades. People feared what they didn’t understand. Gifted wolves were kidnapped, tested on, even killed. Some had their children taken from them. F
