A week. Seven full days since I'd last seen Aubrey, and she'd taken full advantage of the paid leave I'd offered. Worse still, she only bothered to report her condition once every two days. Brief, clinical updates that told me nothing.

She'd be back soon enough. And when she returned, I'd push until she finally confessed the truth.

That had been my intention when I'd mentioned smelling blood in her dorm. I'd known she was on her period the moment she opened the door. The scent had been unmistakable. I wondered what her roommates thought was happening behind that closed door.

Which brought me to another problem: I needed to get her out of that four-person dorm. The thought of her sharing space with three men made my wolf restless in ways I didn't want to examine too closely.

But personal matters would have to wait. The rogues were escalating their attacks on neighboring packs, and the lead alpha of the entire werewolf association had died last week. A new leader had to be chosen.

Why did he say okay if he was going to show up at my door unannounced? The sharp knock sent panic shooting through my veins. I bolted to the bathroom, fumbling with the bandage as I wrapped my chest tight enough to hurt. Baggy top. Contact lenses. Wig. My hands shook as I checked my reflection one last time.I forced myself to breathe before opening the door."Hello, alpha," I said, hoping my voice sounded steadier than I felt.Logan leaned against the wall beside the doorframe, and for a moment, something flickered across his face; relief mixed with concern, maybe. Or perhaps that was just wishful thinking on my part."You don't look so good," he said, pushing off the wall.I managed a weak smile. "Just woke up. Still a little groggy.""Can I come in?"I hesitated. Being alone with him in this small room felt dangerous. But I stepped aside anyway. "Yes."Logan moved past me, and I caught the scent of cedar and something darker, earthier. He surveyed the room slowly, his expression un

Annonymous“Did you speak with Max?” I asked my secretary. She looked better than the previous day. Yet, when I approached her, she acted like she wasn’t all dressed up to seduce me. I had no plans to push her; she’d succumb when she was ready. I was a patient man, you'd see. She placed a file before me. “Yes, he said you should wait for a week.”“A week?” I didn’t know at that point. It wasn’t as if waiting for one more week would jeopardize my plans, but I also wanted to get things done as quickly as possible. “Whatever.”“Are you sure we’d be able to penetrate the Silvermoon pack, though?” Linda, my secretary, asked, her voice skeptical and full of worry. I dropped the pen in my hand. “What are your concerns?”“I heard Logan is more deadly than his father,” she stated, an obvious fact. “And?” “I’m just saying…” she paused. “What if things go wrong? He wouldn’t spare us and our pack.” “You’ve been working with me for over two years. You still think I’m not as deadly as Logan?”

LoganI was thinking of confronting Aub after I left Jeremy in the elevator, but I didn’t know if that was the right approach. After pondering on it for almost twenty minutes, I decided against it, but somehow, my legs still found their way around his dormitory. I was only a few steps away from knocking on his door when I saw him come out of his room. He was holding a grocery bag. I hid behind a wall so that he wouldn’t see me. It was actually dark, so I doubted whether he would see me regardless of where I was standing. Aub kept looking around. He was checking to see if he was being watched. Why? He kept walking until he was close to one of the garbage cans we left on the streets for general use. Why would he leave the cans in his room to use the one on the street? Then, he slowly lowered the bag in his hand and began to remove its contents. I couldn’t see the contents from where I was standing, but I could see he was removing the package and discarding the outer wrapper. Wheneve

JeremyI had always been the clumsiest among the three of us. Logan always said I wasn’t capable of committing a crime, because I’d easily be figured out. It was a miracle that I hadn’t done anything to give away Aubrey yet. Maybe because I knew her life was involved. I joined Aubrey as she picked up the pads and put them back in the bag. After we were done, she handed the bag back to me. It was hers. I looked at her, confused at what she was doing. Why would she hand me the bag, knowing Nathan would question me? Nathan narrowed his eyes at both of us. Then he folded his arms over his chest. “I ask what you are doing?”“We are getting groceries,” Aub responded, raising her hand to show the grocery bag. I raised mine too, but I eventually figured it was a bad move. “And why does yours contain sanitary pads?” Nathan finally asked what I was dreading. I cast a glance towards Aubrey. She placed me in that situation, so she should handle it. But the look she gave me showed she had no

I kept my eyes on Jeremy throughout the dinner. I didn’t want to lose him, because he was the only one who could help me at that moment. Because I knew my bags would be checked at the border, I didn’t bring any feminine products. Even the skincare products I brought were unisex. But I couldn’t bring sanitary pads. It would be even worse than being found with female-oriented skin care products.I needed to ask Jeremy to get me pads. There are different convenience stores in the pack; it wouldn’t be hard to get me one. I hope that by that time, the following month, I’d be out of the pack already.“Hey,” I waved at Jeremy the moment I saw him about to get into the elevator. He was with Logan and Nathan, so they halted, turning to face me.I scratched my neck nervously. “Can I speak to Jeremy for a few minutes?”Jeremy pointed a finger at himself, and a questioning look appeared on his face. “Me?”Did I stutter? I nodded, shining my eyes brightly at him.I saw the same look Logan had back
