“Rapha, remember what I told you before my spirit joined the ancestors. Until your twentieth winter, never reveal your true form, your power, or your scent.”

Rapha Okoye repeated his mother’s final words in his head as he stared at the cheap, mud-covered rags clinging to his body. For fifteen years, he had lived as an omega in the shadows of the pack house, pretending to be weak, broken, and completely scentless just to stay alive. But today, the twin moons marked his twentieth year. The curse of his hidden years was finally over, and he was ready to shred the fake persona and let the Okoye bloodline roar back to life.

He turned the heavy brass valves in the Hidden Chamber, watching hot water fill the stone basin as he reached for the special ash mixture meant to scrub away the foul-smelling grease he used to hide his silver fur's scent. Just as he unbuttoned his torn shirt to wash off the pathetic disguise, a heavy fist slammed against the wooden door, making the iron hinges rattle.

His jaw clenched as he threw a coarse dark robe over his shoulders and yanked the heavy door open.

Nia Bello, the pack maid, stood in the corridor with her snout practically turned to the ceiling in disgust. “Rapha, what are you sneaking around in the dark for? This is Beta Vivian’s binding ceremony. If you fail to show your face, the visiting packs will think the Mensah Clan breeds disobedient omegas. Move your useless paws to the Alpha Hall, right now!”

Rapha let out a low, mocking growl under his breath. This beta maid had treated him like dirt ever since the day his mother perished. The accusation of sneaking was laughable considering they had literally locked him away in the Shadow Den for over a decade. After his mother’s spirit left her vessel, his stepbrother, Vivian Mensah, along with the scheming Luna Kiara Mensah and her illegitimate son, Amara, had seized the pack’s territory and stripped Rapha of his birthright.

The absolute worst part of the betrayal? His own flesh and blood, Alpha Tade Mensah, treated him worse than a rogue wolf.

“I will change my garments,” Rapha said, keeping his voice dead calm despite the anger burning in his chest.

Nia scoffed, her eyes scanning his scrawny disguise. “Why bother? With that pathetic, sickly frame of yours, not even the finest silk can hide your weak lineage. Move it! The Adebayo Dominion arrived at dawn. The high elders are already inside the Alpha Hall to legally bind Seth Adebayo to Amara. The Luna wants every wolf present to witness the glory of our new alliance.”

Rapha’s lips peeled back into a razor-sharp smile.

The Adebayo Dominion ruled the entire underworld of Valoria Ridge with an iron fist, controlling every black-market territory from the shipping docks to the hidden valleys. Seth Adebayo, the heir to the throne, was a ruthless tactical genius, while Amara was the most coddled male omega in the region. Their arranged mating had been whispered about across every pack radio and secure channel for months. The elders called it a perfect alignment of blood and power. Every dominant alpha praised the match, and the modern werewolf mafia web was buzzing with anticipation for the grand ceremony.

Luna Kiara wanted him there to rub his face in Amara’s triumph, but Rapha knew the real game had just begun.

He quickly threw on a clean but plain tunic and followed Nia through the winding stone corridors toward the front of the estate.

The Mensah Moon Estate was massive, built like a fortified castle and dripping in modern mafia opulence, fully decorated with silver banners and fresh kills to celebrate Amara’s big day.

Every high-ranking wolf in the room wore expensive tailored suits and heavy gold chains, except for Rapha. He stood out like a dying rogue, dressed in an oversized shirt and frayed jeans, his face covered in dark ash to mimic a sickness. He didn’t just disrupt the elegant mafia gathering—he completely shattered the illusion.

Luna Kiara was laughing with Seth’s grandfather, Elder Jabari Adebayo, when Rapha walked into the room. Her fake smile faltered for a fraction of a second before she smoothed it over. “Rapha, I had a custom-tailored suit sent to your quarters. Why are you dressed like a common scavenger?”

Rapha didn’t even blink, refusing to give her the satisfaction of an answer. He used to play the fool to survive her deadly traps, but today, the masquerade was ending. He ignored her completely, stepped past her scent cloud, and gave a respectful nod to the old warlord. “Greetings, Elder Jabari.”

Elder Jabari let out a deep, booming laugh that rattled the glasses on the table. “Well, young Okoye, you certainly possess a bold spirit to dress like a rogue at a formal binding.”

Rapha ran a hand through his messy, uncombed hair, surprised by the old wolf's tolerance. At least the elder wasn't ordering his execution for disrespect.

His gaze instinctively shifted to the massive shadow looming beside Jabari. He had felt the crushing alpha aura the exact second he crossed the threshold. From the lethal posture and the raw, suffocating presence, there was no doubt this was Seth Adebayo, the brutal heir who rarely left the active war zones of their territory. Seeing him up close sent a violent jolt through Rapha’s veins. Tall, broad-shouldered, and fiercely handsome with eyes like molten amber, he looked like a god of war. Rapha found himself locked in place, staring directly into the eyes of the apex predator.

“Look at this creature,” Nia sneered, deliberately raising her voice so the entire council could hear. “An ugly, talentless omega, yet he dares to lay his filthy eyes on Amara’s future mate. What an absolute joke. For a weakling like him to even look at the future Alpha Leader is an insult to the pack.”

The maid was clearly barking on Kiara’s silent command.

Amara immediately stepped closer to Seth, wrapping his arms around the dominant alpha's broad shoulder as if marking his property before the whole room. “Let it go, Nia. Seth is a magnificent alpha. It is only natural that lower-ranking wolves stare at what they can never have.”

Amara didn't see Rapha as a threat at all. In his mind, Rapha’s pathetic appearance only served to make his own purity and beauty shine brighter to the Adebayo Dominion.

Alpha Tade’s face twisted into a snarl of pure rage as he glared at his biological son. “You are an embarrassment to my bloodline. Get out of my sight before I throw you to the border patrols!”

Instead of running, Rapha dragged a heavy iron chair across the stone floor and dropped into it with absolute defiance, sitting directly opposite Seth.

Seth didn't move a single muscle, his expression remaining completely unreadable, cold as a frozen tundra.

Elder Jabari cleared his throat, his deep voice cutting through the rising tension as he turned to the pack administration officials. “Let us finalize the registration documents and seal this blood treaty between our families.”

“Right away, Elder.” The officials opened their encrypted laptops, tapping into the central pack registry to finalize the legalities. A second later, the lead official froze, the color draining from his face as he stared at the screen and then back at Seth with absolute terror. “Elder Jabari… Mr. Adebayo… the system blocks the binding. Seth is already legally and spiritually married. His listed mate is Rapha Okoye.”

“What did you say?” Shocked growls and gasps erupted across the Alpha Hall.

Rapha’s eyes went wide as his heart pounded violently against his ribs. A sudden wave of heat washed over him. Married?

To the most feared alpha mafia leader in Valoria Ridge? He had absolutely no memory of how this could be possible.

Luna Kiara leapt to her feet, her claws bursting through her manicured nails. “How is this madness possible? Explain this instantly!”

Tade looked equally horrified, his alpha aura flaring in panic. “This is a system glitch! A technical error by the human servers!”

Years ago, the Mensah Clan had risen to power by exploiting the brilliance of Rapha’s late mother, using her secret wolf-serum formulas to dominate the territory. But since her death, their power had been rotting away. Allying with the Adebayo Dominion was their absolute last chance to avoid total destruction by rival factions. They needed this marriage to save their skin.

Rapha was technically Tade’s son, but he was treated as an outcast. Amara was the prized son they relied on to secure their future wealth and safety.

Amara tried to maintain his sweet, innocent mask, but his fingernails dug so deeply into his own palms that drops of blood hit the floor. Still, playing the victim, he forced his voice to tremble delicately. “This makes no sense. Someone has sabotaged our sacred union.”

“The pack registry does not lie,” the official insisted, turning the laptop around. “The digital signature and the blood-bond registry are fully verified.”

The entire council crowded around the screen. There it was in glowing white text Seth Adebayo and Rapha Okoye, legally bound as mates. The registration date was exactly two years ago, logged in the foreign territory of Podgend when Rapha was only eighteen.

Tade and Kiara stood frozen, their minds completely blank.

Amara’s perfect mask shattered instantly, his face twisting into a mask of pure, unbridled hatred as he stared at the digital proof.

The room fell dead silent as every eye turned to Seth. Elder Jabari narrowed his fierce eyes, his voice dropping to a dangerous rumble. “Care to explain this, Seth?”

Seth remained completely still, his voice flat. “I am discovering this at the exact same moment you are.”

“Discovering it?” Jabari growled, his thick chest expanding with fury as his inner wolf began to surface. “Are you telling this council that you signed a blood treaty and somehow forgot the omega you bound yourself to?”

Seth’s gaze slowly drifted across the table, locking onto Rapha with a intensity that felt like a physical weight. Rapha sat perfectly still, refusing to show the panic screaming inside his mind.

The deadly coldness in the alpha's eyes drew everyone's attention directly back to Rapha. He was now the center of a lethal storm he had never asked for.

Rapha blinked slowly, shrugged his shoulders with an innocent smirk, and said, “Don’t look at me. I’m just as clueless as the rest of you.”

No one in the room had any logical reason to suspect him. He had spent his entire life hidden in the dirt of the Shadow Den, barely surviving on scraps, mocked by every beta and omega in the territory. The idea that a discarded, scentless wolf could secretly travel to Podgend and capture the heart of the most ruthless alpha leader in the city was completely impossible.

“This is a fraud! Someone hacked the mainframe to destroy our alliance!” Kiara screamed, her voice cracking with desperation. “We will find the traitor later! For now, dissolve this fake bond immediately so Seth can claim Amara today!”

“Yes, the alliance must take priority over a technical error!” Tade barked in agreement.

“A pack bond cannot be discarded so easily,” Elder Jabari said, his deep voice heavy with ancient finality. “The Adebayo Dominion strictly follows the old laws. An alpha can only take a new mate if his first bond has crossed into the veil of death. Separation is forbidden by the ancestors. The one who must stand beside Seth today is Rapha.”

“No! This cannot be happening!” Amara lost all control, leaping up from his seat as tears of pure rage spilled down his cheeks. “Everyone in Valoria Ridge knows I am the rightful future Luna of the Dominion! Now you are throwing me away for this filthy gutter rat? How will I ever face the rival packs after this humiliation?”

Kiara abandoned all diplomatic sweetness, her snarl echoing through the hall. “Amara is the only one worthy of the Adebayo throne! That pathetic excuse of an omega doesn't deserve to breathe the same air as Seth!”

Watching his tormentors completely fall apart was pure ecstasy. Rapha bit the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing out loud this was a better revenge than he could have ever engineered himself. He had spent nights wishing he could ruin their precious alliance, but fate had handed him the ultimate weapon without him moving a single claw. True or fake, he was going to ride this wave straight out of his cage. With a sweet, mocking smile, Rapha looked across the table at the dangerous alpha and said, “My love, I am so sorry for all this chaotic drama on our special day.”

The words were a direct strike to Amara’s fragile ego. “You insolent snake! He belongs to me! I will rip your throat out!” Amara screamed, baring his fangs as he lunged across the table directly at Rapha.

Moving with the sharp instincts of a trained survivor, Rapha slid behind Seth’s massive frame, using the alpha’s broad shoulders as an unbreakable shield. Leaning his head out slightly, he gave a teasing smile and said, “Control your inner beast, Amara. Where did those perfect, refined manners you always brag about disappear to?”

Amara stumbled past them, his hands trembling with violent tremors as he prepared to strike again—until Rapha’s words struck him like a physical blow, freezing him in place.

Everything Amara had spent his life building his flawless reputation, his status as the crown jewel of the territory was vaporizing right before his eyes. He had climbed over Rapha’s bleeding back to reach the top, and now a single discovery was ruining his entire existence.

The council watched in silence as Amara, who had just been screaming like a feral rogue, suddenly forced his posture to soften, turning wide, tearful eyes toward the stoic heir. “Seth, please… you cannot let them do this to me…”

“Look at me. No wolf will ever loyalty serve you the way I do…”

Tade and Kiara turned their desperate gazes toward Seth, silently begging the young mafia lord to speak, to reject the bond, to say anything that could stop this absolute catastrophe. But Elder Jabari’s word was absolute law across the territories he never broke the ancient codes. If there was any escape from this trap, it had to come from Seth himself.

Standing dead center in the middle of the screaming wolves and suffocating tension, Seth looked like a statue carved from dark stone completely emotionless, entirely untouchable.

After casting a slow, calculating glance over his shoulder at Rapha, who was still lightly gripping the fabric of his tailored jacket, Seth turned his gaze back to the council. His voice cut through the shouting like a silver blade, steady, deep, and terrifyingly absolute. “As the future leader of the Adebayo Dominion, I am bound to honor the ancient traditions of our ancestors. I will not break the laws that built our empire.”

The declaration hit the room like a sonic boom. Both Kiara and Amara lost all the color in their faces, stepping back as if the solid stone floor had suddenly given way beneath their feet.

Tade’s eyes shifted to Jabari, absolute panic bleeding through his scent. “Jabari, surely we can find an exception”

Rapha’s ash-covered face gleamed in the light of the torches, but Elder Jabari’s focus remained locked onto Seth steady, unyielding, and completely solid. He let out a long, heavy breath that smelled of old tobacco and smoke. “This is an unexpected path for you, Seth. But our laws do not bow to convenience,” the old wolf muttered to the room.

Jabari fixed his lethal stare directly on Tade. “Tade, I gave my blood oath to your father before his passing, which is the sole reason I brought my family to this estate for an alliance. But our original treaty never specified which of your bloodline would be bound to my heir. Now that the pack registry shows Rapha is legally Seth’s mate, the contract is fulfilled. Do not force my wolves to enforce the ancient laws by blood!”

Though Tade’s chest heaved with unspoken fury, he did not dare utter a single protest, knowing that challenging the Adebayo Dominion meant total annihilation for his pack. Swallowing his rage, he gave a stiff, submissive nod.

And just like that, the trade of mates was locked in iron. Rapha stepped out from behind the shadow of his new alpha, walking forward without a single drop of fear as he prepared to take the place that belonged to him.
