Rejection

I'm amazed when I see the guy. I expected him to be really ugly based on what people said about him, but I was totally wrong. He's actually super good-looking. He walks gracefully and takes a seat reserved for him.

Even his clothes look good on him, and he has this strong, manly vibe that even my dad couldn't hide his surprise about.

His chiseled face makes his blue eyes stand out, and it made my heart skip a beat. His eyes are the coolest part about him, like the ocean. If it weren't for all the rumors about how mean he is, I might have totally fallen for him. But I managed to keep my cool and not show how impressed I was by his looks.

Suddenly, he glanced my way as if he knew I was watching. But then, his good-looking face turned into an angry frown.

I wondered if he didn't know about our arranged marriage or if he just doesn't like me. I couldn't figure out why his expression changed so fast.

Perhaps he didn't like me staring at him, but who can blame him? He's so good-looking that he naturally catches people's eyes, including mine.

Well who cares anyway?

As I sat in the pack gathering with my father and the other pack leaders who were seated at the other end, I couldn't shake off the feeling that something big was about to happen.

A powerful force pulsed through the air.

In the midst of the crowd, I found myself  scanning through the crowd.

Suddenly, an unseen force drew me toward a figure, and my eyes landed on Alpha Asher.

So It was him. The one destined to be my mate.

Our eyes locked, and a surge of recognition passed between us. The mate pull intensified, binding us in an invisible way.

I knew he sensed the pull too but to my surprise, he looked away as I watched him walk away into the pack house in a fast pace.

I became worried because I thought he would be excited that we were actually mates but I guess I was wrong.

After waiting for only god knows when, he still didn't come out from the pack house.

By now, the festival was almost ending.

My father couldn't stop sending me a death stare so I was forced to go find my mate, Alpha Asher.

Perhaps it was even best we get to know each other, and discuss one or two before proceeding for our marriage.

As soon as I stepped on the pack stairs, I felt a strong pull guiding me to one of the pack's rooms, Rita's room, to be exact.

It felt odd because I questioned why my spirit directed me there. Before I could even knock, a strange feeling crept over me. My instincts warned me that something was off, and sure enough, when I attempted to knock, I discovered the door was slightly open.

Peeking inside, I saw Alpha Asher engaged in intimate activities with Rita, the pack's cook.

"What the hell is going on here?!"

I screamed at the top of my voice because this time, I couldn't control how I feel.

I was mad.

I was going insane.

Just when I thought I have found a mate it turned out he is betrayal. And Rita who I thought had her own mate was busy sleeping with another person's mate and that's my mate she's having sex with.

Knowing I had caught them, Rita tried to lie.

"Oh Sarah, I'm sorry it's not what you think, you know? He tried to grab me".

She started crying and I knew immediately that they were fake tears. She wasn't happy that I was going to be married off to an Alpha so she did this to hurt me.

I am trying to accept the fact that I would be send off to be with Alpha Asher who turned out to be my mate, I only wanted to manage being with him to get away from my pack members but seeing him having sex with another made my heart changed towards him.

How could she?

She's been eyeing him even before I knew he was my mate today. I remember how they looked at each other through the crowd.

"Come on, stop screaming. Do you want your father to see you like this?" Rita whispered, knowing I didn't believe her.

"I won't stop, Rita. You have your own mate, so why are you doing this to me? Sleeping with my mate, and I won't stay quiet," I said loudly. My voice reached others in the pack, and a crowd gathered behind me to see what was happening.

In front of everyone, Alpha Asher coldly looked into my eyes, and he didn't seem sorry for what just happened.

I wanted an explanation!

I just wanted a simple reason why he would do something so hurtful, especially with our pack's cook.

But his next words cut through me like a sword.

"You're not my mate, and I'll never accept you as one," he declared, his gaze fixed on Rita as if she were his soulmate.

My heart sank as he hugged her and she kissed him, leaving me at a loss for words.

The pack stood in shocked silence as the person I just found out was my mate turned to someone else in public. Tension filled the air, and I felt my cheeks burn with embarrassment.

He didn't even look my way, and the weight of his rejection weighed heavily on me. Whispers among the pack members only added to the humiliation. I tried not to show my weakness by holding back tears, but the pain in my chest was undeniable.

As he walked away with Rita, leaving me behind, it felt like my world shattered into a million pieces.

I only agreed to marry him to escape the humiliation from the pack and my father's anger, but catching him with someone else hurts.

"What's the point of the marriage?"

I whispered to myself. I think he heard me, possibly because of wolves' keen hearing, as he suddenly stopped and looked my way.

"It's just politics, my dear. Don't overthink our marriage. You're not important to me, and I don't see you being useful even for pleasure. Decide if you want to be my wife, but remember, we're not mates," he said.

My head was burning, and it felt like it might explode.

I couldn't bear the humiliation anymore, so I did something unexpected.

"I, the daughter of Alpha Adams Charles, accept your rejection. I renounce you as my mate, and our paths shall never cross."

I could hear murmurs in the crowd, mocking me, but at this point, I don't care anymore.

My heart broke into pieces as he turned away without a second look. I couldn't figure out why fate was so cruel to me at this time. I felt lost and confused, wondering what I did to deserve this rejection.

Oh, right, it's because I didn't have a wolf.

Being an Omega is a curse. A wolf less one at that. I was constantly reminded of how useless I was, and that's why.

"Well, I can't just stand here and wallow in self-pity" I said to myself.

I decided I had to leave. To leave this pack and get away from my father and my pack members. After all, no one cares if I live or survive.

I'll take this chance to find myself peace but away from this pack and this misery.
