The Accident

“Hello,” Esther greeted. Then, releasing a sheepish giggle, she responded, “I wanted to give you space, but then I got greedy. That’s why, I called you.”

For someone who had a hard time holding up a conversation in the beginning, Esther really spoke well. She maintained a careful attitude, and her tone was soft and loving, which tickled one’s heart.

“There might be a storm tonight.”

“Really? It shouldn’t get that bad,” Esther expressed.

Asher remained silent. He wanted to badly scold her for her reckless behavior. The man wasn’t dense. He could see her reasoning for doing so. But it was as though something was stuck in his throat. No words left his mouth.

Funnily enough, he felt overwhelmed.
