AURORA

I woke up feeling groggy, my head heavy from the endless tears of the night before. My eyes stung. I blinked at the soft light filtering through the curtains.

I turned toward the other side of the bed; still empty. Damon was not yet back. I sighed and stood up from the bed.

My stomach growled. The pup growing inside me didn’t understand heartbreak. It demanded to be fed.

As I entered the bathroom, I padded into the shower. As warm water cascaded over my skin. I tried to push away what I saw in the harem from my thoughts.

I clenched my jaw. No, I wouldn’t cry again. I wouldn’t give Damon the satisfaction of seeing me break.

Suddenly, the soft creak of the bathroom door. My breath caught, I knew it was him. My heart beat quickened as the air shifted. I stood still beneath the water, my back turned.

His warm arms wrapped around my waist, drawing my naked body against his. His scent wrapped around me like a storm.

He kissed me on my neck; right on his bite mark. I stiffened, my l

AURORA MONTHS LATERDamon and I sat in the garden, the soft hum of nature surrounding us. Damon was by my side, his hand resting tenderly on my growing belly. He leaned down and pressed a kiss against my stomach, then trailed up to my lips.“I can’t wait to meet my pup,” he murmured, joy radiating from his voice.I watched him in awe. Eight years ago, this life with him had felt like a faraway dream. Damon had given me everything I never thought I could have.Love, safety, unwavering care… and now, a family. I smiled softly, rubbing my belly, the life inside moving beneath my palm. Our peaceful moment was shattered by the sound of someone clearing their throat. I looked up and instantly tensed; it was Gideon. His eyes were cold, his scowl barely hidden as they settled on me. That unsettling chill crept over my skin, as it always did in his presence. He didn’t like me; that was obvious but it wasn’t just dislike. There was something deeper, something I co

AURORAI walked toward the harem, each step heavier than the last, my heart clenching with every breath I took. The corridors felt longer tonight; as though the palace itself stretched in cruel anticipation.I moved slowly, deliberately, hoping Damon would appear… that he would stop me before I reached the door. When I finally stood before the heavy door, my hand trembled as it reached for the handle. I paused, taking a shaky breath, my chest tight with dread. Then I pushed the door open. The scent of roses and incense filled the air. My eyes darted around the room.Women lounged across the cushions, some reclining, others chatting in hushed tones. They barely spared me a glance; as though they had been expecting me. As though my presence here didn’t matter. My stomach twisted.I moved forward slowly, my steps uncertain. Curtains after curtains passed. My fingers shook as I reached the one I remembered too well; the largest bed. Where Damon and I once shared something intimate.I he

AURORAI stepped quietly into the room, the soft hiss of the shower echoing from behind the bathroom door. Damon was inside. For a moment, I considered joining him; to hold him, to feel his warmth but guilt weighed too heavily on me.I sat at the edge of the bed, my heart pounding in my chest, every second dragging like a lifeline. The door finally opened, steam billowed out, and Damon came out, wrapped in a robe. His damp hair falling loosely over his forehead, droplets of water sliding slowly down his bare chest.I swallowed hard, my throat tightening. I felt a flutter of heat stir low in between my legs. But it quickly drowned by the ache in my heart.Damon didn’t glance at my way. He walked into the closet, silent, distant; like I wasn’t even there.“D-Damon…” I said softly, rising to my feet. I walked over and slowly wrapped my arms around him from behind, resting my cheek against his back. His body tensed instantly.“I’m sorry…” I whispered, my voice barely audible. But his b

AURORAI saw the pain in Damon's eyes, but I stepped back, forcing myself to look away.Slowly, I walked towards my father, who was still kneeling on the floor, his shoulders hunched like a broken man. With trembling hands, I reached out and helped him up. Thomas smirked as he dusted off his palms, the darkness in his eyes unmistakable.“Thank you, Aurora… but you’re still as foolish as ever,” he sneered. Before I could react, he grabbed me, his hand locking around my neck, claws digging into my skin. I gasped as his grip tightened, my body frozen with shock and betrayal.“Aurora!” Damon shouted, surging to his feet as his guards moved swiftly into position.“If you come close, she dies!” Thomas snarled, dragging me back with him, away from the throne. Fear gripped me. My heart raced; not for myself, but for the child I carried.“Let her go now!” Damon growled, his voice feral, vibrating with power as he stepped forward slowly. But Thomas only laughed; cruel and guttural. “She will d

DAMONThe heavy doors of the throne room creaked open, echoing through the vast, silent hall.I sat high upon my dark stone throne. The flames of the torches lining the walls flickered violently, as if they too could sense the fury rolling off me in waves. My fingers gripped the ends of the throne’s armrests, my knuckles were white, my jaw locked in restrained rage. Two guards dragged the prisoner in by his arms, the man’s body limp and battered. Blood smeared the collar of his torn shirt, and his face swollen with bruises. My nostrils flared as I laid eyes on him; the bastard who had aimed for my heart but struck Aurora instead. My unborn pup; the thought made my rage boil hotter. I was ready to rip this man apart with my bare hands. As the guards shoved the man to his knees, he groaned but didn’t resist. His head hung low, his graying hair stringy and matted with blood.I leaned forward, instincts humming in my ears. Something was off. The man was older, a bit weaker but strangely
