Chapter 0004

|Every|

Walking around the packhouse always felt like walking in a labyrinth with so many traps. You never know when, where, or who was going to attack you, which way... especially in a pack like in which I lived.

I slowly made my way to the ground floor, deliberately taking my time. My bare legs touched the cold tiles giving me a line of shiver on each step I kept.

It was around 10 pm, the usual time I finished my work every day. I had no idea why I had to go upstairs to the room where alpha Ren was...

I came to a halt looking around at the hallways, and it was empty... no one was there.

I recalled the time alpha Ren told me to come that night. He didn't sound threatening; it sounded more like an order.

I took a step back, breathing heavily.

'Shall I go back?' I asked Sparkle in my mind.

'I have no idea... But I feel like it's okay to leave. No one's around.. no one will know you disobeyed him, right?' he ranted.

Without replying, I took another step back.

'Yeah... I hope it will be okay-'

"What time is it again?" a familiar voice asked from behind.

I silently gasped and turned to face the devil, alpha Ren. I made out his dark silhouette under the dim lights. But I couldn't see his expressions, if he was mad at me or not.

I slowly shrugged, expecting him to let go of the question.

"What time?" he asked again, walking towards me. I cringed and took a glance at the old grandfather clock next to us.

Then I quickly showed him ten fingers.

"Right. Why are you so late?" he asked again.

I moved my hands to the floor and showed him around the hallways, telling him that I was working till then.

He sighed.

"When I ask you to come. You have to come one way or another," he said, his voice lacing impatience.

I nodded.

Then he started walking up the stairs in which he signalled me to follow him. I started following him behind, and I fiddled with my fingers nervously. It was the first floor, where I had rarely been. I watched with wide eyes as we walked past the large room of the pack's alpha and luna.

Ahead of us, I saw the door to his room.

I remembered when alpha Ren told everyone that no one could come into his room without reason, and no one knew what lay in there. Maybe a monster just like him?

He opened the doors and signalled me again to come inside. I hesitantly looked around. Did I suspect maybe it was a prank? Yes, I did.

I stood outside his room, rooted to the floor, but I quickly stepped in when I saw his impatient expression. But before I could step inside, I felt some pain around my lower abdomen.

Ignoring the pain, I meekly watched around his room because 'pain' was usual for me. I didn't know if I should call it my fortunate or unfortunate to be in his room.

He was a dangerous person, after all.

The room was large, nearly as large as where eight of the omegas of my age stayed, with eight beds. The large room we stayed in was crumpled and packed. But alpha Ren's room was much spacier.

"Do you like it?" Ren asked when he caught me looking around his room in awe, and I didn't nod or shake my head.

His room was different from the whole packhouse. Packhouse had all the vintage-looking furniture and designs, and it sometimes even looked rusty, but his room.. looked modern. He had many new things we weren't allowed to touch, and I've only seen some of those things in magazines and newspapers.

The home theatre system was what caught my attention the most. It had a large television, about a 50-inch one which was slightly curved, and it lay between a set of prominent speakers.

The other thing that caught my eyes was a large projector attached to the ceiling.

I wondered how big it could project.

"You can look around if you want to." alpha Ren said again when I didn't respond to the question he asked before.

I nodded, actually forgetting why I was even in his room.

My eyes caught some DVDs on his table, and I slowly ghosted my fingers on one of the DVDs, reading the titles. Most of them were horror and thriller. Next to that pile was a PS5 game, which I assumed was some zombie apocalypse game.

It wasn't a surprise; I found all those things amusing. I had a liking for the horror and thriller genre.

Because I was preoccupied with Ren's other games, I didn't hear the door opening and closing. Only when I heard unfamiliar voices did I turn around. It wasn't only us, Ren and I in the room. But there were two more guys inside.

I was left puzzled when they shared a few words and looked at me at the same time. Feeling uncomfortable under their gazes, I slowly kept the DVDs I was examining on the table.

"Don't you have a scent omega?" one of the guy's asked.

My question was, why was he asking me that question??? It wasn't any of his business. Moreover, I assumed those were friends of alpha Ren, and also, why were they in our packhouse when it was curfew time??? But anyway, I nodded as if accepting what he asked.

"Anyway, a soundless person is good to have fun." the other guy said with a menacing smirk playing on their lips.

And before I knew that same person came to me and grabbed me from the front of my shirt. My fingers wrapped around his large hand to fight him back for a release, but it was no use.

"Hey, don't fight him." I heard Ren's words faintly from my right saying to me, and his hand, for some reason, was on my waist, and a small siren started at the back of my mind when the dreaded feeling of being harrassed rang in my head.

I wasn't ready for any of those.

It was my birthday.

I just turned eighteen, and I had no freaking idea what they were planning to do with me. But it was evident that their intentions weren't innocent.

But when one of the guy's hands started pulling at my shirt buttons, I knew I couldn't let this go further. So I bent down and bit his hand with my bare teeth.

He shrieked in pain and went back. I quickly wriggled out of Ren's hands and ran to the door. I started pulling at the doorknob, but it was tightly locked. I could hear curses flying from the mouth of the guy whom I bit.

I couldn't care less. When I realised I wouldn't get a chance to escape the room using the door, I ran to the other end of the room and started shaking the locked windows. The room was tightly locked. And I was sweating all over, and my throat was dry from the bitter feeling I felt. My hands started turning red by pulling hard at the locks.

I wanted to get out of the room.

Tears threatened to come out of my eyes, but I tried my best not to spill them and to let them see I was weak. I was about to shake another window when two hands grabbed me from behind.

And I screamed.

..but no one heard.

It was only a silent scream.
