Chapter 4

‘That was too close! It was dangerous!’ Camron thought as he scrambled to collect his things from the floor.

Lucas was being pushed away as Camron got onto his feet and started dashing away, looking like he was almost attacked by Lucas.

Lucas could only stare with widened eyes when Camron sent him a glare earlier.

Camron was long gone, but Lucas was on the ground absent-mindedly staring at the direction where Camron ran off to.

His foggy mind started to clear off, that was when he realized, something popped up in his head out of nowhere.

‘Does our campus have someone so strikingly beautiful? Like an angel sent down from heaven…’

‘Wait… what on earth am I thinking?’

‘But, he really looked like a delicate flower.’

All sorts of thoughts ran through Lucas’s mind and it all came down to Camron.

He got a small frame, slim but tall. His skin was so smooth under the touch of his palm that Lucas’s thought he might be stroking silk. And, he had such beautiful and clear eyes that dazzled under the sunlight.

Still, on the ground, Lucas’s hand clutched onto his chest.

‘What is this feeling?’ Lucas thought, feeling his heart pounding in his chest.

At first, when Camron bumped into him. The first thought that came into his mind was ‘not again…’ and ‘seriously?’ because that was not something new, it was the same old tricks over and over again.

People crashing onto him, pretending to fall on a flat floor, pretending to drop their drinks…

He knew that people were trying everything they can to catch his attention because he is an elite alpha.

Lucas thought that Camron is the same as them until he, himself was also drawn to Camron for some unknown reason. He wasn’t like that at all, even with omega pheromones, he can bear and control himself really well.

This was the first time something like that happened to him.

Seeing how Camron reacted moments ago, Lucas couldn’t help, but wonder if he was wrong about him?

Lucas did not know that he will see Camron very soon, especially a drunk one.

In the end, Camron was also late to class.

Luckily with his good reputation as a model student, the professor gave him one chance since Camron’s face was red and looked like he had a fever.

The professor thought that he was sick and even ask if he is well.

Heaving out a huge sigh, Camron plopped down to the table with his face facing down.

Camron clutches onto his chest, his face still red. He could still feel his heart racing.

“Camron, are you okay?” Eric asked, worried.

Camron smiled reassuringly, “Yes, I’m fine.”

“Then, are you coming to the drinking party later?” Kyle said, looking excited.

“Ah…I’ll pa-” Camron wanted to reject apologetically when Kyle whined.

“Come on~ You never come to the drinking party,” Kyle pouted, “just this once, please!”

Looking at Kyle’s sparkling and pleading eyes, Camron sighed, “Fine…”

Kyle turned towards the rest of the group, pumping his fist up into the air, “guys! Camron is joining!”

The whole group cheered, surprising Camron. Does his participation excite his coursemates that much?

Seeing Camron’s surprised face amused Eric as he said: “Didn’t you know that you are the medical course angel? You’re as popular as the business course prince-Lucas.”

Camron's face turned red again when he heard Lucas’s name which made him recall the scene back then.

With a brow raised, Eric asked: “Are you sure you’re not sick? You look really red.”

Camron shook his head profusely, assuring his friend that he is fine.

When Petal reached Midnight Emporium, the bar her best friend-Ariana opened, a staff who recognized her instantly led her in.

“Petal, over here.” Ariana saw Petal walk in and blow her a kiss.

Ariana, a beta fox. She is one of Petal’s customers after they got to know each other better, they became best friends quickly.

“So, how’s the doctor’s appointment?” Ariana said, sipping her alcoholic beverage.

Petal sighed, “I’m the usual, but Camron needs new suppressants.”

Seeing Petal’s expression, Ariana raised a brow, “let me guess, the insurance did not cover for it.”

Petal lunged at Ariana, wrapping her arms around Ariana's slim waist looking at Ariana with wide, teary eyes, “Yeah…Please do something to comfort me…”

Ariana looked towards the bartender, “get some cheesy fries over here for this whiny brat, Henry.”

With her face on the counter, Petal mumbled, “and some nuggets too.”

“You heard our baby, Henry,” Ariana chuckled, twirling her luscious locks with a finger.

When Henry came back with the food, Petal cheered and the charming bartender patted Petal on the head with a gentle smile before he went back to work.

That was what Ace saw when he stepped into Midnight Emporium, initially, he was surprised to see the innocent and bubbly florist here.

He didn’t even realize that his eyes soften when he saw Petal, but when Henry patted Petal on the head and she returned the gesture with her signature bright smile. Ace’s eyes turned cold.

After swallowing a mouthful of fries and nuggets, Petal felt a strong gaze that almost pierced through her back. Looking over her shoulder, she saw Ace sitting a few feet away from her with two ladies gluing to his side.

Flashing a wide grin, Petal waved at him. Ace smirked, pointing to the corner of his lips. Petal blinked, realizing what he meant, she grabbed a napkin and wipe herself.

She mouthed a ‘thank you’ before turning back because that two ladies had been sending her death glare.

“How do you know Ace Hudson?” Ariana who witnessed the whole thing asked with a raised brow.

“Hm?” Petal briefly glanced at Ace and back at Ariana, “he’s a regular customer at the flower shop.”

“He didn’t flirt with you right?” Ariana said, gripping Petal on the shoulders, looking at her protectively.

“Pfft, no. You know, I’m not interested in getting into a relationship anytime soon,” Petal said.

Ariana stared into Petal’s eyes trying to see if she is serious about what she just said and heaving out a huge sigh a second later.

“Why? What’s wrong with that guy?” Petal couldn’t help but ask out of curiosity.

“He’s from the Silver Shadow pack,” Ariana said, scooting closer to Petal.

Silver Shadow pack, werewolves. Petal heard from Ariana before that they’re one of the mafias. Ariana’s fox tribe is also one of the mafias.

Petal stole a glance at Ace, then back at Ariana again, “wait… is his gang also one your rival?”

Ace raised a brow seeing Petal mumbling stuff with Ariana while stealing glances at him, they are obviously talking about him. Petal made it look so obvious.

“Yes…uh…technically, not anymore. They were, but the new leader of their pack is changing the future direction of their business,” Ariana said, cupping Petal’s face to stop her from making an obvious gaze at Ace.

“I heard that not everyone is agreeing to that decision, so I think that things might get hectic from there,” Ariana leaned in to whisper in Petal’s ear.

Petal nodded. She is surprised that Ace is…well…former mafia, but she had nothing to do with that world anyway. After all, she is a normal citizen.

“What?” Ace was just starting to relax when his cellphone rang, his eyes widened when he heard what the person said.

What do you mean that he is gone?!
