Anyone who knew him probably thought that he answered to no one and a few month ago he had strongly believed that too. He was Alexander Rowanni afterall. Alpha leader of the Wan tribe, one of the largest tribes in Moonsville.
Up until this point, his life hadn't exactly been perfect but his life has been his to do whatever he so wished. Till he had been summoned by The council. No one really knew who the members of the council really were. They didn't show their identity to anyone. Not even the Alphas.
Alex younger self was on the calm side during his days in school, though he was popular but he was never the show off noisy kind of guy, his life in school went by fast, he had a lot to do when he took over from his father, he was too young when his parents died so he had to grow up fast for the sake of leadership and holding his family name up.
Presently, he is off age but without a mate, and he refuses to look for one with his many excuses that he makes up because he have never been the relationship kind of guy, he doesn't want to even imagine himself spending his entire live with a one, he doesn't know what it feels like that's why he was carefree about the idea, but his time of laying low is over as he had been called by the council.
The council were the oldest werewolves from several packs which together formed a judge and jury body to checkmate the activities of any werewolf who went out of check. Including an alpha like himself.
The day before, Alex woke up like every other day, it was as normal as ever, unknowingly to him that the day was going to be far than a normal one, he freshened up and went to his office.
"Alex the meeting with the council is today" his beta reminded him
"I almost forgot" he said "they are a pain in my ass lately"
"They just want was right for you" his beta replied
"They don't know what is better for me" Alex stated
"Well, you have no choice" his beta noted
"And that's the painful truth" Alex said
The day went on smoothly until it was time for his meeting, he went into the hall and took a seat to wait for the rest of the council members. When they were all gathered they started the meeting with some issues about other creatures and concluded the meeting with Alex mate's matter, he was reminded again that he wasn't going be able to keep being Alpha for his pack if he can't find his mate, in all of history an Alpha without his mate is not complete and an incomplete alpha is not suitable to be an Alpha, they rang it in his eyes ones again and ended the meeting.
Alex growled inwardly as he remembered his meeting with them. They had been upset that he had assumed his position as an alpha without performing the howl of the red moon ritual. It had been their tradition that before an alpha heir could be made an alpha, he had to be mated and perform this sacred ritual. It was a passage rite from a mere werewolf to a god.
The full moon appeared once every year and he hadn't partaken in any of such ritual due to the fact that he was yet to be mated. But now he had to.
The council had told him that the seat of Alpha would be taken from him and given to any relative of their choosing if he failed to partake in the next red moon howl. The seat had been in his family line for as long as he could remember, for century even. And even though he had no interest in finding a mate, he couldn’t be so selfish as to let go of century long heritage just because of his disinterest.
The meeting was unplanned for, he never wished for it and now he was put in a seat that he had no options to chose from but only the one the elder offered, he hated that he had to bend to their will.
He had Sophia, his girlfriend but the council refused to acknowledge her. To them, he must find his mate made for him by the moon goddess or lose his seat. Mating with who was not ordained by the moon goddess bring misfortune to the pack and only very few knew this, Alex didn't even know. As the world was modernizing, so was the werewolves, so Alex felt nonchalant about getting his mate when he can easily pick someone around.
Caleb and Brian, his cousins had agreed to help him search and somehow their search had led them to this small human town. They went to several packs previously but they never got a feeling of there Luna presence there, one thing about an Alpha and the Luna is that with or without them mating there people will always feel the authority and connection to them, that was what Caleb and Brian were looking for that connection and they found that in a small human town but it will be difficult to place who exactly is emitting that connection to them except the Alpha is present and his wolf will immediately detect the person that's why Alex had to come with them on their search.
They found the town and went back to report to Alex their discovery so that he would ride with them back and they could find their Luna. Although they knew Alex interest was not in it they talked him into joining them back to the town.
"Human. Town?!" Alex said in irritation on hearing what his cousins where explaining.
"It's only there we got a connection, we've gone go every other tribe but felt nothing, on our way back from one of the southern tribes we felt something and it was in that human town" Brain explained to Alex as he watched the disgust in Alex eyes
"There's no harm in checking, you just have to follow us to place the exert person" Caleb added
Alex shook his head in disagreement when Brian suggested they check there.
Later on Alex agreed to follow them to look around the tribes close to the human town, they had been on the road for over 3 days now from one tribe close to town to the other but they found nothing and he didn't want to waste anymore time on this fruitless search, so he decided to all of the search already when they drove abit inside the human town to refill their fuel
"Caleb, you should just drive us back home" Alex said irritated.
"We're almost at the point of finding her bro," Brian said in his southern like drawl.
"We might as well just check here and if still nothing then we head back" he suggested
They had parked at a fueling station just by the entrance of the town. They had stopped to refuel the car and refuel their bellies. They had bought snacks at the minimart in the fueling station but Alex wasn't hungry. Caleb hadn't said a word since they got there, just quietly drinking his soda. He was always like that. He didn't speak unless he was spoken to. Alex was a little like that too but as the Alpha he had to speak even when he didn't want to.
Brian turned to Caleb now. "Come on Caleb say something to him"
Caleb shrugged his shoulders and kept looking outside the car window, drinking his soda. Brian punched his shoulder but jokingly.
"Fine!" He said to Alex finally. "You don't have to go but we'll still go without you." Brian was already getting out of the car before he finished talking. Caleb followed suite, stretching once he got out of the car.
"Finding the Luna shouldn't be so hard, right?" Caleb asked flashing his trademark dimples at his companions. They knew he was being sarcastic. How exactly was searching for a pin in a hay sack supposed to be easy.
"Ha ha Caleb" Brian answered dryly "we'll meet you once we're done searching this town Alpha"
Alex only nodded once and with that his cousins left.
Caleb and Brian ran off into the town to look for a deep connection and the more the passed through the forest by the town the more the connection grew, they were very sure that their Luna is in the town by now, but what they were not sure of is why a human town?, They stopped at a house very close to the forest but the front of the house was a busy town road, while the back was the calm forest. The connection was on a high ground there.
Alex was bored out of his mind as he watched the minimart manager close for the day. It was already evening and the manager was definitely not expecting anymore customers bu this time. Alex thought about how the store sign read 24HRS but that was clearly not true.
He got down from the car. He doubted that there was any pure breed werewolf fit to be his Luna living in the human town. He scoffed to himself at the very idea but as soon as he walked into the town to the busy streets like the rest of the humans, they walked passed him ignorant of the fact the he was a werewolf, he felt irritated by them because they were to lowly and weak compare to his kind. Just as he walk on a bit further his wolf whispered "mate!"
“mummy!” Hugh cried, scared. His mother looked back at him with tears filled eyes. Loren carefully looked out the window and Hugh followed his mother's eyes. From where he stood he could see clearly the impending danger. He stared hopelessly at the pack of wolves approaching, accompanied by other werewolves who were still in their human form holding up torches and pitchforks. It looked exactly like a scene cut out of an old with hunting movie. This pack didn't give a damn that it was the twenty first century. They were out for blood and even him at his age knew it. Loren walked back to her son and crouched next to him so that they were eye to eye. She had a sad smile on her beautiful face. She was looking at him but her eyes seemed so far away. Her mind was probably on her husband _his father, who had gone out to defend them from the mob.“Listen to everything I’m going to say now darling." Loren said to a confused Hugh. Her voice was thick and sounded shaky like she was holding back
"Mira, you know nothing about being a mother! Why don't you want me to come over or why not come over? whichever one you decide." Loren whined over the phone for the umpteenth time. Loren had taken her time preparing a room for her grand child at her house, hoping Mira would spend the first few months after the baby is born with her, but Mira had continually declined her offer."No mom. I'm okay and besides, the baby is not out yet." Mira responded laughing. Mira turned to smile at Alex who looked completely lost while trying to couple the wooden cradle Alyssa had gotten for them. It was archaic and the instructions were in their mother's tongue but he insisted on fixing it without her help. She was in her ninth month and he didn't let her as much as lift a pencil on her own. Since she got back to the villa, things had changed. Alex was so different now, caring and always watching her every move like he was scared that she would vanish if he wasn't too careful. Her mother wasn't any d
A gentle ruffling sound coming from the bed, stirred him slowly to a numbing consciousness but it was her tired voice that woke him up completely. "My love" Mira whispered as she struggled to keep her eyes open to see more of Alex that was sitting beside her."How do you feel" Alex held her hand and rubbed it with his thumb "I just feel like living this place, it sickens me" Mira complained"Let me call your mum, she's out side talking to the doctor, she should know you've woken up" Alex said "Okay" Mira sighed Alex got up and gave her a warm kiss on her forehead head, he stood there longer than usual, he was very relieved that she had finally woken up. He finally withdraw from her and went to get her mum."She has woken up" Alex said on getting to were Loren stood"Really?" Loren eyes lightened up with a smile slowly forming on her face"Yea" Alex answered obviously Loren was beyond happy, she practically ran to the room where Mira was lying in "Mum" Mira called as she saw her
In the week that followed Alex stayed rooted to Mira's side, watching and patiently waiting for her to wake up.the doctor had given them the news that Mira was in a coma but it wasn't life threatening to her or the baby. He said that it may take days or years before she woke up. The duration wasn't certain. Alex sighed as he stared at Mira. His Mira. He felt a strong urge to go immediately and snap the neck of the culprit but for now they only had loose clues and he couldn't bring himself to leave his wife's side.James had arrived at the hospital that evening of the accident, after Alex had instructed him to meet Sophia for more details on how she knew about the bomb but James came to report that Sophia was missing. Their only solid source to what was going on, and she was missing. After that day James and Hugh went to look for more clues to find and take down the culprit. But after one week and no word from them, Alex was openly irritated. He was fuming now and didn't hear his ow
"So what did you do today at the villa" Mira asked just for the sake of bring up a conversationAlex thought of outing out the part were he met up with his ex but decided to be completely truthful since he didn't do anything bad, he is not meant to act guilty, he could only wish that Mira will not misunderstand it."I had a talk with Sophia" Alex said "Hmm, a talk?" Mira raised a brow"Yea, just to put things in order so that it won't creat any unnecessary enemity between us in the future" Alex explained"Okay, if you say so" Mira just shrugged, she didn't want anything to bother her, she has to trust Alex. When they got to the hospital they came down from the car an walked in to see her doctor, as they waited for their turn Mira relaxed back on the chair.Yes, she wanted her baby to enjoy the presence of a father figure in its life, especially since she did not get to enjoy much of that. Still, she was not sure if she wanted her child to be raised in a pack of werewolves. And she wa
When they got to the elegant restaurant, they sat down and ordered their preferred meal. Alex insisted on paying the bill but Loren refused, when they were done with their meal he quickly paid for it before she noticed."You're smart I'll give you that" Loren chuckled when she noticed what he did"I really enjoyed the dinner" lulu said smiling as they all walked out of the restaurant.Luke and Lucie waved them and took off to their house. Loren, Alex and Mira got into their car and went home.Mira just said a quick good night to Alex and Loren and went to her room, she was really tired and needed a good rest.Alex didn't bother disturbing her, he respected that she wasn't in the mood to talk and was tired. The next day Mira slept through the morning in her room, she didn't have the will power to stand up yet. When Alex came to check up on her she was half at sleep and half awake, he didn't wanted to disturb her but he needed to tell her that he would be leaving the house to the villa.
