Then he spoke.

“No.”…. He answered without feeling remorseful.

My smile fell apart before I even understood why.

“I will not claim Lyra Ashwood.” His expression stayed perfectly cold, like he’d rehearsed this. “I need a mate strong enough to stand beside me. I cannot build my future with a wolfless Omega.”

Every word landed like a stone dropped straight through my chest.

He turned his head, slow and deliberate. “My choice is Selene Ashwood.”

Gasps broke out across the crowd. Somewhere inside me, something that had been holding on for a very long time simply let go.

Selene came toward me wearing a look of sympathy that didn’t fit right on her face. She touched my arm gently, as if she cared. “I’m sorry, Lyra.” Her smile never once reached her eyes. “But you heard him. I didn’t choose him. He chose me.”

Behind her, Luna Seraphina was smiling like a woman watching a plan come together exactly as she’d designed it. Because she had. She’d wanted this all along.

My father rose from his throne. “Enough.” The word alone was enough to silence the whole mountain.

“Alpha Cassian has made his decision.” He looked at me then the way you’d look at something you’d already thrown away. “As for you — you’ve wasted enough of everyone’s time. Floors are waiting to be scrubbed. Return to your duties, Omega.”

No one looked back at me twice after that. They celebrated. They laughed. They gathered around Cassian and Selene to offer their congratulations, and within minutes it was as if I had never stood on that platform at all.

The betrayal, the rejection, the humiliation — all of it would have hurt regardless. But it hurt worse because every soul in the pack had been there to watch it happen.

The one person who had promised he would never leave me had abandoned me the moment it mattered most. By the time night fell, the weight in my chest had grown too heavy to carry through another hour inside that house.

I slipped away from the packhouse and made my way toward the one place that had never once made me feel unwanted — a hot spring hidden deep in the forest, ringed by ancient trees, fragrant flowers, and vines heavy with fruit. Crystal-clear water fed gently into the pool, catching the silver light of the full moon on its surface like something deliberate.

It had always been my sanctuary. Whenever the world grew too heavy to hold, I came here to set it down for a while.

Usually I visit at sunrise. Tonight I wanted the opposite — I wanted the dark, and whatever privacy it could still offer someone who had just been humiliated in front of an entire pack.

I undressed slowly, folded my clothes on a nearby rock, and stepped into the water. The heat wrapped around my aching body like something that had been waiting for me.

I closed my eyes and let a handful of water run over my shoulders, and for the first time all day, I felt something close to peace.

Then — A hand closed around my wrist, firm and sudden.

I gasped, my eyes flying open.

A deep, masculine voice spoke from behind me.

“Goddess!” I shriek, scrambling desperately to climb out of the tub, water sloshing violently around me.

Before I can escape, his merciless hand clamps over my naked breast, fingers digging possessively into soft flesh. Another powerful hand wraps around my throat from behind, yanking me back down hard against a solid, unyielding chest. His body is like heated steel beneath me—every inch carved muscle and raw dominance.

“Are you lost, little flower?” Prince Jai’s voice is a deep, velvet-smooth whisper against my ear, dark and dangerously seductive. The low timbre sends a traitorous shiver racing down my spine. “Or did you come here to offer this sweet body to me?”

I freeze, heart hammering wildly as I feel the thick, hard length of his cock pressing insistently between my thighs, hot and pulsing against my most intimate place……

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The beast final strike

Lyra’s POVThe moment the bell rang, the three-headed creature lunged straight at me. I barely twisted out of its path in time. Its enormous claws struck the ground where I’d been standing a heartbeat earlier, sending stone chips flying in every direction. I stumbled back, my heart slamming violently against my ribs.I didn’t attack. I couldn’t. All I could do was run.The creature swung all three heads toward me and roared before charging again. I moved as fast as my legs would carry me, weaving side to side, desperate to stay alive. Another claw swept toward me, i ducked. Its tail whipped around I jumped clear as it crashed into the ground behind me hard enough to shake the entire arena. Dust exploded into the air, and I coughed, covering my mouth against it.“Move, Lyra!” someone screamed from the crowd. I didn’t know who. I didn’t have time to look. The beast came again, and everywhere I turned, it followed, as though it had been built for one purpose alone .. to end me. The crowd

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The trial of the three headed beast

Lyra’s POVI got dressed in the fighting clothes Silver Moon Academy had provided for the students participating in programs like this. The outfit was simple but strong enough to withstand the intensity of the battle. I tightened the straps around my wrists and took a deep breath, trying to calm the nervousness building inside me.Today was not an ordinary day at the academy. It was the day that would determine whether I was strong enough to move to the next class. At Silver Moon Academy, advancement was not decided by written examinations alone. For students like us, strength was part of our education, and every student had to prove that they were capable of surviving the dangers that came with being a Lycan. The promotional examination was held at the top of the mountain. One after another, students would climb the mountain, face the creature assigned to them, and fight for their place in the next class. But there was one important condition.Every student had to awaken their wolf.

Lyra’s POVWe were still talking when the door suddenly opened, and the sight of the person standing there made me immediately straighten my posture. It was Prince Luca’s father. The Alpha King.I quickly bowed my head in greeting.“Good morning, Your Majesty.”He looked at me for a few seconds, and then a strange, almost mischievous smile appeared on his face. I couldn’t understand why he was looking at me that way, and the smile made me feel slightly uncomfortable. He shifted his attention to Luca.“I don’t understand what is going on with you, son.”Luca’s expression changed immediately.“Dad, you……”His father raised his hand, cutting him off before he could finish.“But you must remember something, Luca.”His voice became more serious.“No Lycan has the ability to marry a wolfless girl.”My heart sank the moment those words left his mouth.I lowered my gaze. “A wolfless girl”.That was what I had always been called.A girl without a wolf.A girl who was never supposed to be impor

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The name I never spoke

Lyra’s POVI got out of bed early that morning, still a little worn from everything that had happened over the past few days. For a moment I simply sat on the edge of the mattress, staring at the floor, trying to gather my thoughts before facing another day inside the palace. So much had happened in so little time that I sometimes wondered whether my life had always been this complicated, or whether everything had only unraveled once I arrived here.I pushed the thought aside and got dressed. Once ready, I stepped out into the hallway, where the palace was already stirring, guards moving quietly through the corridors, servants hurrying past with trays and morning errands. As I turned a corner, I spotted Princess Elara and Rowan standing together. The moment they noticed me, they both looked my way, and Rowan raised his hand in a thumbs-up. Elara did the same. I couldn’t help but smile, returning the gesture before continuing down the hall. For a few seconds, everything felt ordinary

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The official rejection

Prince Kai’s POVI stared at Wendy for several seconds after her confession. So many pieces were finally sliding into place, and yet I felt more drained than relieved. Before I could say anything more, my father’s voice carried across the hall from the council chamber, still deep in talk of the glorious future he believed awaited our kingdom. I turned my head slightly toward the sound. He was consumed, as always, with power and stability, with everything he believed would make our kingdom stronger. But listening to him now felt different than it ever had. I remembered how he chased more, always more, even when he already held enough to make an entire kingdom tremble at his feet. And beside me stood Wendy, who had just admitted to planting a false letter through Lyra’s best friend ivy, just to keep me away from Lyra.I looked at her again. “So,” I said slowly, “you believe everything you did was justified?”She nodded quickly, wiping the tears from her face. “Yes. It was defense. Prot

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The truth behind the letter

Prince Kai’s POVI walked out of the room without looking back. I didn’t know where I was going. For the first time in my life, I felt completely lost. Blood from the broken glass still trickled down my palm, tracing a thin red line along my wrist, but I barely noticed it. The pain in my hand was nothing against the strange, heavy ache sitting in my chest.I needed a hug. Not from just anyone. From Lyra. The thought stopped me mid-step. How could she reject me? That small, stubborn girl had looked me straight in the eye and told me she would never marry me. No one had ever done that. Every girl who’d come near me wanted something. My title, my power, the crown. But Lyra wanted nothing. Not even me.I clenched my injured hand. If Rowan had stood in front of her instead, would she have rejected him too? I didn’t think so. I was almost certain she’d have said yes without hesitation, and the thought irritated me more than I wanted to admit. Why did she believe we were two worlds apart? Di
