Lyra's POV

For a long, terrible moment, nobody moved.

The stranger stood tall among the soldiers bearing Villeron's crest, his features sharp and unmistakably familiar despite belonging to a face I had never once seen before tonight. His eyes were my exact shade of blue. His jaw carried the same stubborn set I'd caught in my own reflection a thousand times.

"That's impossible," I whispered. "My father is Alpha Ashwood."

"Alpha Ashwood raised you," the man said, stepping forward with unhurried c

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The only honest face

Lyra’s POVThe figure stepped out from behind the lantern’s glow, and the moment I saw his face clearly, every bit of tension in my shoulders loosened at once.“Uncle Beta Rowan ashwood”.He crossed the courtyard in a few quick strides and pulled me into a hug so warm, so unguarded, that for a moment I forgot entirely about the false smiles and cold whispers that had greeted me since I first stepped through the gate. “Lyra,” he said against my hair, his voice thick with genuine feeling. “I’ve missed you. You have no idea how much.”I clung to him a moment longer than I meant to, my eyes burning with tears I hadn’t expected to cry tonight, not after everything, not in front of this many watching faces. But Uncle Dariel had always been different from the rest of this family. He was my father’s younger brother, the one who had slipped me extra bread when no one else was looking, who had once stood between me and my stepmother’s raised hand when I was barely old enough to understand why s

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The feast of false smile

Lyra’s POVMy father cut my stepmother off before she could say anything further, his voice smooth and quick as he stepped down from the porch to meet me. “I heard about the smoke disturbance and attack at Silver Moon Academy,” he said, “and we’ve been expecting you ever since. We’ve prepared a small feast with the people of the pack to welcome you home properly.” He spread his hands, almost proud. “I’m glad you made us proud, daughter. We’ve heard good news about what you did there.”I stared at him, trying to find the lie buried somewhere beneath the warmth in his voice, because I knew, with absolute certainty, that this man had never once called me daughter with that particular softness before. Not in all the years I’d lived beneath his roof. Not once.“Who told you about the academy?” I asked carefully.“Word travels,” he said, waving the question away as though it were nothing. “You know how these things are. News flies easily enough between packs, especially news involving royal

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The family that never changed

Lyra’s POV Selene’s smile stretched wider, slow and deliberate, like she was savoring the moment she’d been waiting years to finally deliver. “You know I always get what I want,” she said, showing every one of her teeth now. “I no longer want Cassian. The person I want is the Lycans, and Prince Luca, to be precise.” Something inside me boiled over, hot and immediate, but beneath the anger there was something steadier too, something that hadn’t been there before I’d ever set foot inside Silver Moon Academy. I had faced a three-headed beast on a mountain. I had healed a dying prince with my own bare hands. I had survived poison, fire, betrayal, a stolen wolf, and a king who wore another man’s face. I was no longer the girl who had scrubbed these floors and flinched at every raised voice in this house. They simply didn’t know that yet. “What are you trying to do?” Selene asked, her eyes narrowing as she studied whatever had shifted in my expression. Then her mouth curled into some

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    My sister who smiled like a blade

Lyra’s POV I stared at the house for a long moment before I let myself walk any closer to it, the pale new timber frames rising over scorched foundations catching the last of the evening light. Even now, with everything else that had happened, the old memories surfaced without permission years of scrubbing floors on my hands and knees until my knuckles split, punishments handed down for things I had never done, meals eaten alone in a corner while the rest of the family gathered warm and laughing just out of reach. I had buried all of it beneath weeks of fire and prophecy and stolen crowns, and yet here it was again, rising to meet me the moment I stepped back through the gate. My step brother - Kieran shifted beside me, watering can still dangling forgotten from one hand, watching my face with the kind of careful attention that told me he remembered those years too, even if he’d never once stood up against them. If I could survive Prince Luca’s harshness, I thought, straightening

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    Finally home

Lyra’s POV“It’s not proper,” I told Rowan, forcing a steadiness into my voice that I didn’t entirely feel. “If I stayed with you, it might cause more harm than good, especially for me.” I managed a small smile. “Besides, family is always family, isn’t it? I’ll go home. Don’t worry about me.”He studied me a moment longer, clearly unconvinced, but before he could argue further, something tickled me sharply from behind. I jerked around with a startled yelp, and found Princess Elara grinning at me, already reaching to pull me into her arms.“I’ll miss you, my love,” she said, and before I could respond, she lifted me clean off the ground and spun me around, laughing, until the empty hall blurred into gold and shadow around us and I couldn’t help but laugh along with her despite everything still weighing on my chest.“I’ll miss you too,” I managed once she finally set me back down, breathless. “Can’t wait for all of you to be back.”“Especially you,” she said, pressing a hand dramaticall

  • The Alpha’s forgotten daughter    The goodbye i didn’t want to say

Lyra’s POVI was still standing in the empty hall, lost somewhere between the echo of King Lucian’s threat and the ache still throbbing dully in my shoulder, when a hand tapped my shoulder gently from behind.“I’ll miss you so much, Lyra.”I turned to find Hikky standing there, her eyes already glassy, and I couldn’t manage a single word in response. My throat closed around everything I wanted to say, and before I could even try, tears spilled hot and sudden down my cheeks, and I pulled her into a hug so fierce it startled us both.“Don’t worry,” I finally managed, my voice thick and unsteady against her shoulder. “Before we can even count down the days, the holiday will be over, and we’ll both be right back here again.”“I know.” She squeezed me tighter. “I just hate goodbyes. Even the ones that aren’t really goodbyes at all.”We stood there a moment longer, holding each other in the fading afternoon light, until a quiet presence shifted at the edge of my vision, and I turned to find
